The desk top is about a dollar per running inch just for the gold border liner. IF....unlimited budget..... Empire light.... oh la la! As soon as I saw the Louvre cabinet, I thought of the convent kitchen for fine china. When stationed in France in 1964, during a visit to Chartres, France, I purchased two cups and saucers, Limoge China, for my mother's collection here in the USA. Royal Purple, gold trimmed. One cup was broken, but the two saucers and a cup survived. My younger brother has them. End of May 2023 on way back to Oregon, found in an antique shop....a creamer, also Limoge, Royal Purple...wow how fortunate is that! Now I will always be on lookout for the sugar bowl!
Don't be sad about that desk, Ryan it would be nearly impossible to repair that Moroccan leather top. You will find one that doesn't need repairs, I am confident!
