You could fashion a base in oak and perhaps the first step of the spiral stair as it's such a good price and style.

Over the boarder in Spain there a many forges that could replicate a few more stairs very cheaply, I had a cast iron staircase made for me to my design here in Spain

That mannequin is a friend of Alexander's. You could tell by not a hair out of place although his wardrobe needs Alexander's touch. Gorgeous staircase. It is a shame you couldn't put the staircase on a pedestal. You need the cog lamp for your desk in the convent,it would go great with the brick wallpaper.

You could always do a stone base then it looks like you could add a few steps at the top and also extend the main pole.

Remember the spiral staircase has to be big enough for all the people of the gallery to exit the building in case of fire. I am sure your local fire dept. will let you know that there are regulations that have to be kept for the fire code. Best of luck finding one that big!

I always love seeing entire bits of buildings in an antique shop. About 25 years ago, my mom and I were looking through a store in rural Illinois when I saw a church pulpit, complete with the staircase leading up to it. I forget what type of wood was used, but the detail in the carving and construction was terrific. The same store also had two gorgeous armchairs in dark walnut and dark green upholstery suitable for a Victorian library or men’s smoking lounge on the Titanic. I loved those chairs-too bad I was flat broke at the time. Also, moving them to my later apartments would have been a pain.

Hi Ryan! Love the antiques! Please tell Billy if the spiral staircase is to short, maybe he can built a small platform with a few steps and attach it to the base of the staircase, just a thought! Hate for you to miss out on that great staircase just because it's too short! All the best with it! 😁

Billy and Ryan: There are foundries that will make cast iron or even wrought iron spiral staircases, like Sean was talking about.
They sell them by the section, so you buy what you need, if the purpose is the function, not necessarily the antique age of the pieces.
I also bet a foundry would know where you can get an antique staircase of the *type that you are looking for, since that’s a specialized market.

I'm always amazed at what you find in a French store for used things and what you find here in America. No comparison. Even a basic thing there in France is a piece of history, an object of art. Here there's plastic and old is maybe 100 years. I can't imagine even in France, that finding a spiral staircase is that easy, but there it is, right where Billy needs to find one. Amazing! I wonder if you could build a platform on the floor in the room you need it it, which has a couple of steps and then have the stair case on top of that. I love seeing all the old suitcases. I've seen people use them for their storage. You either stack them up from large to small or I've seen shelving made to hold the suitcases like drawers in a dresser, you just pull them out and open them.

If I had that chapel I would rebuild the altar space with antique furniture and a nice altar table. That winged phoenix book holder was amazing, but too pricey I agree. Some nice chairs to either side for the celebrant and the reader, so forth and so on. (I used to be a seminarian - So I can see things like that). Happy Monday from Montreal.

I seem to have the same idea as several other viewers. An oak bass at the bottom would be lovely.

I loved so many antique things in that shop, you also pan slowly enough for us to get a good look at everything. Shame about the bell and the spiral staircase, but it wasn't ment to be this time around. I enjoyed that very much 💕🇦🇺

The 'Lectern' with the Bible on it would be out of place in the chapel. The Eagle is the national bird of the USA. Not French at all. Mind you, it would be quirky. Depends what you want the chapel to be. If it were me, the lectern would be a baroque carved "pulpit" made from a solid tree trunk or a simple Shaker style pulpit. The latter would fit the chapel's simple beauty.
At 12: 56, for those curious enough to wonder what those 2 strange looking canisters are: I have one in my garage and my grandfather used to own one too. Back in the early 40's & 50's, these were used as sprayers for pesticides or herbicides in the home garden. The canister has a screw on neck, where you added the chemical. Once the cap screwed back on, you pumped the handle in the tube and the sprayer shot the chemical (either dry or liquid) through the small opening. Thing was, it was extremely difficult to clean the canister and was pretty potent at times. Having worked with chemicals like herbicides and pesticides for years, it comes with a cost to your lung health. Those contraptions were effective if you used good PPE, except most home gardeners never did.
