    In this weeks episode we visit Nicola and Arron, a dynamic young couple who have some big dreams for the future, that have been made possible thanks to a tiny house.
    So many young people have given up on the idea that they will ever be able to own their own home. In cities like Auckland, where the average house price is over 1 million dollars and climbing fast, many see their dreams of home ownership moving further from reality.
    Thankfully, with a little creative thinking, there are still ways to get started on the housing ladder and this innovative young couple decided to get out of the rent trap by purchasing a pre-loved tiny house so they could start paying off their own home and begin saving money to purchase land.
    Their tiny home is incredibly clever in its design. It’s spacious, with more than enough room for the couple and with an abundance of storage. Throughout the home there are super clever design features, such as the innovative office loft, and ultra clever pull-out stairs. The entire centre floor of this home opens up into an abundance of additional storage space, and dual french doors ensure the home has an abundance of light and connection to the outdoors.
    Nicola and Arron have big dreams for their future and plan on one day living on a stunning sustainable property surrounded by fruit trees. Every month they purchase a new fruit tree together a a reminder of the dreams they share and the goals they are working towards. This tiny house is an essential part of that, as they are now able to live in their own home which will soon be paid off and enable them to begin saving for land.

    This is a fantastic design, I love the raised floor with storage! The hidden staircase, the huge kitchen, the double doors! This young couple are doing everything right, buying a home they can afford, living in the parents yard, (something that was common amongst my friends in the 1980s), paying off their mortgage then saving for their land. I had trees in pots too, waiting for our own land to plant them in. When we moved, I took cuttings and seedlings of my trees to my current home.

Had to replace some of the old mouldy floor and in-built cabinets, but all up it was $20,000 for a 48 square metre home for us plus our friends when they visit. We’re renting cheap on the property of my partner’s parents while we save up for our own property.

      @@ninetyminutestd I have no problem with the bare feet; I wish I were more comfortable myself without shoes. • @hiimfeenix
    @hiimfeenix 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I love absolutely everything about this Tiny House. So many windows, big kitchen with a clever layout, the bathroom is very spacious (would swap the toilet for a composting one), the stair is incredibly smart, the workspace with the feet dropping down into the kitchen area is a bit unhygenic, but one could solve that by putting a bit of an obstacle behind the feet(so that the dust and dirt can't fall into the kitchen). Personally I would add a skylight and a seethrough separation for the sleeping loft, so that the smells from cooking can't penetrate the sheets. I don't know how well the floor is insulated bcs of the storage in the floor. BUT never the less I'm in love with this design.

    It has possibilities, but is far from being finished. They actually have to climb up from the outside into their living room. And the living room is actually just a big floor-closet, which they can't access if they ever want a couch or other seriously comfortable lounge area. Never mind that they can't sit comfortably at home, but what of their guests? Do they just stand around or sit on the tiny floor cushions? Considering the price of this beautiful home, I would certainly want a more inviting living room area. Everything else is great, especially the kitchen. And now it's time to build a wrap-around deck.

    • @jemma50
      @jemma50 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I totally agree! I'm not much of a cook, so I would sacrifice some kitchen space to have a cozy lounging area. To me, that's pretty important.

    • @Schuttberg
      @Schuttberg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@laraffinee Yes, and I've seen the shot where the little pillows are out on the floor. But the word lounge describes comfort and ease. Even teenagers would like to plop themselves on a soft, cushiony couch. I can't envision any guest over 30 being happy with this arrangement. True, there is a lounge area outside, but that only works when the weather cooperates. And, by the way, I don't remember seeing a heat source inside. I better watch the whole thing again in case I missed that vital piece of information.
