    I loved this man’s honesty when he said that tiny houses are not for everyone and not for them at this point and that they are looking to move into a normal sized house.

    • @lorrainedinsmore1307
      @lorrainedinsmore1307 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Yes, agree. My reason for loving the idea is that I want less housework, but what if I'm untidy? The tiny house forces you to be more organised...

    • @MrOrcshaman
      @MrOrcshaman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      I'm glad he said it too. Tiny house living is fine if its just yourself and maybe your partner/spouse you enjoy being around all the time, but these things are not suited for a growing family, since the children will need their own private space as they grow up.

    • @CianMcsweeney
      @CianMcsweeney 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yeah i don't think tiny houses on wheels work for families, mainly due to the size restrictions, especially height. A stationary tiny house with a foundation could definitely do work as you could scale it up just that little extra bit to give everyone their own space while still having a small (relative to traditional homes) square footage

    • @mmariemarkel7482
      @mmariemarkel7482 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CianMcsweeney I agree. It's amazing how much extra space you gain by making it 40 ft long x 15 ft wide by 17ft tall. No bumping heads in the loft space, and plenty of room to not feel walls closing in on you. In addition, plenty of storage/prep space even with full size appliances. I know I would do fine in a tiny house of that size. I don't think I would want or need it on wheels, especially if built on land I owned. I would get enough land to rent the land out to others to help finance my own build and get it paid off quicker. Once my build was complete, I could start putting some aside for taxes and emergencies, but the rest of the rent I would apply directly to the principle. One extra payment a year on principle only takes a thirty yr mortgage down to 15 yrs. Imagine how much quicker it's paid off if doing that monthly.

    It is surprising how people can come up with such different ideas in a standard tiny house! I mean, every time I feel like how different this house is going to be, I get surprised.
    Their bathroom and the idea of keeping the bath space behind sink, and its unique geometry/shape made it so spacious. Their bathroom was quite user friendly. I loved their loft space! The baby crib, positioning of the ladder behind their sofa (in most tiny homes it is either in front or side of it), their mattress being less thick, the closet space.
    To sum up, I felt they intelligently made space for themselves.

    Their little boy is SO cherubic!! He popped his little head up in the loft looking like a tiny inmate 😂 And I loved how he was sat in his chair on the counter top when his mummy was preparing dinner. What a beautiful home and lovely family....I can totally understand though how they need a home where they don't have to tiptoe around to get ready for work, especially as the lady works as a nurse and has to rise so early. I wish them a very happy life. 💜

      Derek Holcomb - The timing was perfect the way they cut that vid in while dad was talking about "it's chaos" LOL. It's so true. And the chaos will continue for years to come. My son, .. smh.. my son. LOL. when he was a toddler he would undo the locks. I mean , take the locks apart in a hot second.
      He's still bad about throwing his clothes around. I have beautiful lament wood floors in my place. I love them. But, he's doing a good job of ruining them. Lots of spills. He takes off his t-shirt throws it on the floor. I've broken 2 ribs over it. One rib .. one year, while coming around the corner and slipping on his shirt. The next year after finally healing up ... it happened again on the other side. Cracked that rib. I got pretty upset with him that time. He's killing me. lol. It's funny but not funny.
      Kids are tough. And every child is different. They don't realize what they do. They really don't.

      Hey there! I think so many are making the "apartment mistake" and we even fell for the lure once ourselves. It's like the old V8 commercial...."Wow...we could have had a tiny house!" Our so- called tiny house is a 5th wheel camper with 4 slide outs. We lived in it for 5 years and paid it off right at the end. It was $30k total. Now that we have lived in a full size house for 2 years, we realize the taxes are way too high and we may never actually own the home. Looking into building a tiny den/mbr to mate up to our camper. Camper hid behind tiny house. Tiny house roof juts up and over rv. Have you ever seen this type of tiny house combo?

    I really appreciate you having chosen a family who is moving on to a more traditional home - it makes your content balanced and credible. You can see that this type of living can be a part of a person's housing, just as an apartment or a house-share can be, until you need more space. Or the inverse is also true, like when you showed that lovely widow in Van who downsized after having done the traditional thing. I think you are opening such an important dialogue in housing flexibility and variety: we are rarely one thing for our whole lives, so why would we live in one type of space?
    Thanks for another great vid, Bryce and Rasa!

    They packed a lot into only 24 feet. I love the well planned "form follows function" of most tiny houses. What you end up with is personalized yet adaptable for others. The storage under the raised floor is fantastic while keeping the kitchen highly functional (a deep freezer!). The shower behind the sink is another winner for me. There's enough room for a small tub, if desired. The crib is brilliant along with the area locked off and baby proof. If stars were given out I'd give this couple 5 out of 5 for their home.

    I'm really happy this couple included some of the downsides of living in a tiny house. I think it puts a more balanced perspective on tiny house living into the world. It can be great, but it's not for everyone. But, I LOVE the wood this couple used in their home and I've never seen such an interesting shower before!! :) Beautiful!

    When he started walking it was chaos, I live in a normal house and can testify its kinda the same here too! Also about him waking up for every noise, did you ever try using a noise maker? They are fabulous for blocking out small noise! Love your house and it was good to hear your honest opinion about living in one with a child!

    Definately one of the most smartly designed tiny houses. I love the storage idea and the unique shower area. The owners have both ingenuity and wonderful carpentry skill. I hope they don't just move to a normal house but build a bigger version of a "tiny house" to accommodate their growing need.

    Best one yet. A realistic assessment of pros and cons of living in 200 sq ft.
    For those of us who build our own homes, the interesting questions aren't addressed:
    -Water. Well, tank, what?
    -Grey water system?
    -Power?
    For those of us with children: where do you store the dirty diapers?

    No wonder the house looks like this, he has a background in carpentry. He is quite talented. I love the wood throughout the home, especially in the kitchen, the bathroom door. The baby crib is a wonderful ideal how it slides. Just good ideals throughout the home. You got a lot done for the amount spent, good planning. This is a fabulous, wise investment.
    The kitchen and bathroom are gorgeous. The frig does looks like a dishwasher, it's unique. I love the shower.

    This Tiny House is amazing!! So much detail & planning to make it comfortable and functional with the extra storage (brilliant). Interior design elements are top notch.
    You both should be proud of yourselves. And, you should think about putting it up on VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) site. We list our vacation home there & it’s a good company they just changed hands a few years ago, so they are working out the kinks but all & all they are very good and you get good quality renters, it’s also a world wide site. Your Tiny home could easily get at least $100 per night plus...more if you are in a touristy area with lots to do...or if you make a hiking trail around your 5 acres/10 acres. Very nice. Love the loft ladder location makes so much more sense with floor room down stairs and love the loft, deck, KITCHEN layout...kitchen reminds me of a boat galley trying to capitalize on all the needed space. Well done. Bravo!!! 👏💜🌷🏠
