This is a great video. I have studied Hebrew verbs before but your books explain it so easily. This video perfectly explained the irregular verbs introduction of your book.
What if you need to go the other way? For example, if I see the infinitive "lagaat," how do I know the first person present tense should have a "nun" and it becomes "ani nogea"?
Hello Orso, thank you for writing. This is a very good question. Thank you for brining it up. The video I made is a general run-down of what a gizrah is and what it means. The verb you mention is very irregular, even the root is not what you thought it was. For years I have been telling my students that you MUST have the book by Shmuel Bolozky, "501 Hebrew Verbs" (a link can be found in all video descriptions), where he lists all infinitives and roots. So, if you look up לגעת , you will see that it says "root נגע". Another example is ללכת , whose root is הלכ.
Good point. Has been on my list for long time. Maybe I can sneak it in these days, before I keep making new versions of the binyanim. I think I will still organize it by binyan... Okay, I will see what I can do to make it happen soon.
Thank you for this video! Question: what about the root for “sleep“ which is ישן ? The infinitive of this one is לִישון . Could you explain this, please?
This verb is a very special one. The gizrah is called "נחי פ״י + ל״נ" it is the only one in the whole binyan of paal. I recommend you simply learn it as it is :-)
Actually, this was just an overview what gizrot are about. I will go into depth when I come across a gizra in one of my conjugation videos. Like the latest one on אמר
So,will one only have to drop the vav to make an infinitve and leave the ל in front of the root and ת at the end only with verbs which don't end with ה and the ones which do end with ה will be לות right?
HI Rut, I'll gladly order your 2 books but I'm not ready to pay AMAZON 10$ + for shipping 9 to 14 business days for delivery. What's happening? Thanks,
Hello, first of all, thank you for your interest and also for writing to me. You can also get the from any other bookstore. Every bookstore can order from Amazon for their clients and as far as I know the conditions are different for them. I have no influence on what Amazon is charging to what country. If I had a solution for selling the pdf version without the chance of getting my work freely circulated, copied and shared, I would offer a digital version. I am considering Amazon Kindle, but the challenge is the Hebrew font. If you have some suggestions on that matter, I am happy to hear. How about buying a second-hand book?

Hello Marciel, thank you for writing. I am sorry, but I am not teaching biblical Hebrew. I am sure, you can still benefit from my courses, but bear in mind that this is Modern Hebrew :-)
I want to correct you: The plural of גּזְרָה is גְּזָרוֹת. In Hebrew we use the word גִּזְרוֹת only when it is followed by another noun in the form of נסמך

Rut, have you done any videos which explain how to make Gerunds?
Not specifically. Do you mean the gerund as used for nouns? Can you give me an example of a sentece you might want to get explanations for?

irregular forms are just two kinds of פ"י and ל"ה ?
Those 2 are just 2 of all irregular verbs that exist. Does that answer your question?
בדיוק 😊👍
