I start my first year as a 7th grade English teacher in August, and I SWEAR the personalized cover letter was so helpful when it came to setting myself apart. It also helped during the interview process because I had researched and knew a bit about the school already! Such a fantastic video!

YES!!! Love this! Especially what you said about the embellishment trap- so important to remember. Cater yourself towards a job that really fits YOU at that time where your strong suits are! loved it as always :)

    Great tips, Marie! Thank you.
-It is important to focus on accomplishments and results. Tailor and target your resume to the position. Be aware of industry keywords and phrases related to the specific position.
-Always personalize your cover letter indeed. Illustrate what skills you are offering the potential employer. I professionally coach clients on how to create a T-style cover letter.
-Build an organized online portfolio to showcase your skills.

I was updating my resume last night. I am not applying for a job but want to add new information. I am glad you shared this. I need to declutter my resume, too much info. LOL

This is great! I'm currently an education student who will be student teaching and applying for jobs within the next year and seeing actual examples of resumes from teachers is SUPER helpful!

Good video with helpful info. As a hiring manager outside the education field, I think there’s lots of good advice in this video that applies to applying for jobs in general. 😀
Thanks for the time you invest in making your videos, Marie.

Thanks! This is really helpful for me. I'm doing my observation hours right and hopefully *crosses fingers* will be student teaching and graduating in the Fall 2020 term. The reminder of how important transferable skills are to put on was most helpful. I subscribed awhile back because when I graduate I'll have a kindergartener as a first year teacher so I always appreciate your teacher mom videos and stuff like this. Last Friday's webinar was great! It was really cool to get to interact with teachers outside of being a quiet observer. :)

Thank you so much! This video was super helpful! One question, how far back should one go when including information on their resume?

I went as far back as high school because the school I work at now is in the district I graduated from... I would say go back as long as it makes sense - probably college...

Hey girl! Just wanted to warn you so please delete this comment after you see it! I was trying to use your formatting from your resume so I copied and pasted it into another docs page, and all of the redacted info became viewable. So I would take that down and maybe Find a better way to redact that info! Thanks so much though!!! This video was awesome!!!

I've been looking through a lot of teacher channels on YT for useful and practical information/tips. You're one of the very few channels I've found without unnecessary fluff. Thank you so much for the useful knowledge and information! I loved the other video you have on SEL for distance learning. Many of the SEL videos on YT are just recycled info or don't excite me. Def my favorite teacher TH-camr! If you're in need of laughs from all the stress this year, follow my teacher meme page on insta LOL. @teacherbreakroom
