I've been applying to teaching positions for a month or two now and I am relieved to hear that the extended waiting to hear back is a universal experience. Thank you for all your tips!
This series could not have come at a better time. I have been a teacher in the same school for twenty-four years. I decided last summer it was time to move on, of course not anticipating the current state of events. This video and the resume one are really helping me narrow down what I want to present to the schools I am applying to. Thank you!
Looking forward to being in this profession. I was determined to be a US History teacher back when I was junior in High School. Watching these video's helps prepare me for that first year starting out as a teacher that constantly worries me. Still have a couple years left of college, I can't wait to send my applications.
HI!! Thank you so much for your insightful content. Would you please be able to do a "first day of school" video where you talk about what activities you do with the students and how you get to know them/how they get to know you? I think you went over a first day activity in a first day of school vlog, but I would love to see an in-depth, talk-through video. You're such an amazing teacher!!
Excellent advice Marie. The principal at the high school I work at gave me very similar advice. I've known her since I was 12 years old and she's like a second mom to me so I kinda have inside info :) I will definitely keep all of this in mind when I step up from sub to real teacher!
Can you make a video on how you chose the books that are included in your classroom library and how you get students to utilize it? I will be a first-year high school English teacher and I have no clue where to start!
This reminds me of one of my former interviews where I found myself sweating as if I had ran a marathon right before the interview. My neck and back were wet and I was hoping the panel didn't notice. I had on a blue polyester dress and a black kimono style thingy over the dress. To top it off, I had to "teach" for 15 minutes as part of the interview to real students!!!
I’m in an alternative certificate program right now and am already preparing ! I’ve been the one conducting interviews the last few years at my job but now I’ll be on the other side soon! I have no teaching experience besides being an SM so I know the real life experience I have is beneficial.
I'm so nervous to interview for positions because I don't have an education degree :/ and bc of budget cuts from coronavirus but my district has a teacher shortage so I will just keep trying! thanks for this
Thank you for your video! I have to say I absolute love your channel. I will be graduating in two weeks for music education, and by the grace of the world I have managed to land a job as a general music and band teacher in the Boston Public Schools district! I am so beyond grateful, I had applied to about 20 schools and was planning on applying to more when this school contacted, interviewed, and hired me within a week. The crazy part is, I haven't gotten as much as an email from any other school I applied to! I feel so lucky so have been hired and there's no way I'll give another school an interview, but I have to wonder if any others will contact me...
I just got contacted for an interview but it’s happening tomorrow! I feel like I have no time to prepare! PLUS + I’m teaching online summer school at the moment... so this sucks!
Thank you for this wonderful video! I'd love to send a thank you note immediately following the interview, but if everyone is currently working from home how do you approach this?

YES! All of these are so important! I feel like truly dressing the part and doing your research on the school and district is most important. So huge.
I have an interview on Tuesday. This video is perfect timing. Thank you!

I have a teacher interview tomorrow at 9 am at an American international school
and it's going to be my first experience in such an environment
I'm here to watch and support. I don't live in the US. But as a teacher, these are good tips.
