Love this song! Chino’s vocals from this era are probably some of the best vocal performances in metal history, and he sounds great on this one. It’s a fairly deep cut on White Pony and I don’t see it talked about a lot. I also love the lyrics. Abusive relationships are an important topic to discuss, and Deftones always handles it in a way that’s sophisticated and poignant. The symbolism this song uses paired with the creepy atmosphere makes it very emotional and interesting to dissect.

It's about a toxic girlfriend that keeps giving her boyfriend a bunch of drugs to control him. Definitely an abusive relationship. I love dissecting lyrics of my favorite bands when their lyrics actually have deep meanings.

Years ago there was an interview, where he talked about RX Queen and how he used a 7 string at the end of the song. He got his first 7 string in late 1999 and this is the only occasion where it was used on White Pony. It's amazing that he actually gave a fuck to do those strums on it at the end, it couldn't be more accurate!

Didn’t Stef play it live one time in A# standard on his 7 string and later on dropped tune it to Drop F# for the outro by a drop pedal?

Still one of the most unique sounding and cathartic bands I know . Deftones is it’s own lane and I’ve been blessed for over a decade with their music!🙏🙇🏻♂️
I'll never forget I discovered these guys right after they came out with Adrenaline and I've been hooked ever since. 39 years old and these guys are definitely one of my top three favorite bands of all time.
When you see the drumkit and instantly assume Abe would be playing through too 💁 please make it happen for at least one clip 🙌🏼
Best thing about this song is that it's chill and you can play it at a bar and not have people be like what the fuk .....peace to Scott Weiland...who sings harmony in this track

It's kind of crazy how Scott Weiland ended up doing the background vocals in this song. Chino met him in Burbank one day and showed him this track and Scott busted out his microphone and started doing his thing. Chino loved it so much they had to use it as a little Easter egg in the song. Pretty crazy this song is about a toxic girlfriend that keeps giving her boyfriend a copious amount of drugs to keep him under her control.
