Restoring one now, what type of paint and brush was used for the letters?

The two-tone looks great! I love the hand-painting on the raised letters and numbers. Could you have done this on site and achieved the same results? Let's say a small town wanted you to repaint all its hydrants. Also, what would such a job cost?

Your right. I do want one and have no use for it but its cool. You should have put some big flakes on it.
