I feel a bit like a boy in a sweet shop learning about all these marvels. Some of them look delightful. I've played and thoroughly enjoyed Hamsterrolle and am looking for a reasonably priced copy. Love the look of Tobago and Strand Unter too. I enjoy Mangrovia a lot.
I think the tier system is great - much more sensible than a Top 50.

This was wonderful. I love that you make content for similar fans of this style of card/oddities. Keep them coming! I found Auf Teufel Komm Raus after your top 100 and will be looking into several of the card games you've mentioned, like Jackal. Gloria Picktoria and Scharfe Schoten have become impossible to find in the US, unfortunately.

Yes, sadly the older games do take a bit of hunting down. I’ve no idea how I’m going to find a copy of Gulo Gulo or Chateau Roquefort!!

Thank you for this excellent overview of the Zoch games! Hope to meet you in Essen at early October.

Thanks Oliver - sadly, I won’t be able to make Essen again this year. Hopefully in 2023!!!

There's a great playthrough of Go Gecko gecko by Boardgamegeek's game night crew

Thanks for this, Adam! It would be interesting to see you do something similar for the Drei Magier game line, as I know you collect those as well!

I’d really like to - but I don’t have all that many Drei Magier compared to Zoch. I guess I have 10-15 Drei Magier games, and I haven’t played them all that much. I mainly love Cockroach Poker & Grasshopper Poker - most of the speed reaction titles are enjoyable, but blend into one in my mind!

Really enjoyed Kilt Castle. Certainly a brain burner, but rewarding of good play, and great fun. Not remotely Scottish though!

Auf Teufel komm Raus! is so hard to find at a reasonable price.

Ah shame! I haven’t checked so I didn’t know this. Lots of older Zoch games floating around in the second hand stalls at Essen Spiel. But that’s not an option for most.

What rules/variants do you use for Bausack?

    • @AdaminWales
      @AdaminWales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I use a very simple ruleset.
On your turn, you choose one piece per player. The player to your left chooses a piece from the selection you offered and adds it to their tower. Each player in clockwise order does the same - so on your turn, you are the last to add a piece to your tower (and you generally get the worst piece from your selection!)
The next player takes their turn and does the same (selects a bunch of pieces and offers them to other players).
When a tower collapses, the owner is eliminated and their pieces are returned to the central pool.
      Last tower standing wins.
I think I read it originally on the BGG variants forum. I’ve always played this way. Very simple and satisfying.

Auf Teufel Komm Raus is $280 on amazon. Only one left. Better get on it people! Lol

Hmm. As much as I love it, $280 is a bit steep… 😂

There's plenty of them available on the BGG marketplace for cheaper, although I think that's shutting down in September.
