    Compare this bike to its own class (retro) and tell me its expensive? (USD)
    R9T - $15,495 - same power - more money
    Thruxton R - $15,000 - same power - more money
    T120 - $11,800 - less power - more money
    V7 stone - $9,190 - less power - less money
    Z900RS - $10,999 - same power - less money.

    Bit of history for context. In the past I have owned three Velocetts including my first love a 67' Thruxton which I road raced. By 1976 the writing was on the wall and I was hooked on the sound of a screaming KZ900. Then a 79' KZ1000. Then 82' GPz1100 my nephew is rebuilding as an ELR. The KZ1000 was the best and the GPz handled like Mike Hailwood's proverbial three legged camel. Replacing just about everything in the suspension that moved didn't help. Not a good thing for Malibu Canyon. Reading the Z900RS reviews I am in love! I am definitely selling my 914 Porsche. 72 and never too old to rock and roll. Cheers

    You can tune the suspension so maybe you can make the ride a bit sportier.

    I took one for a test ride last Saturday and this is my next bike! They are $18,000 ($13,450 USD) here in Australia, but for the quality of the bike I think it’s a reasonable enough price.
    It’s intended for those who used to own the original Z1, or those who were too young or couldn’t afford one at the time. I owned a Z1 when they first came out and so did all of my friends. A lot of us are still riding and this bike is going to appeal to them. It ticks all the boxes for me.

      Wow I think is still a good deal, it just came to México and I really want it but is $ 297,028 MXN (15,892 USD) so I feel like is a total scam, it is a great bike but not for that price, is the same price as the Triumph Speed Triple R 2016 and that has electronic accel, brembo brakes, öhlins forks and shoks plus quick shifter.

      Sure, but the Z900RS is mostly for older riders who remember the original Z1 and really liked it. I read somewhere that Kawasaki designed it for the 35 to 55 age bracket. I like Triumphs and I’ve owned a couple, but this Kawasaki is for me.

      @JoIs033 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      gm16v149 well I am in the middle of both I am 27 and the reason is hard to decide for me is because triumph is so much adrenaline and gives you a lot for your money (here compared to the z) but I have owned a Cm400 t and a cbx 500 and I know the style of the Z900RS is perfect for every use, Kawasaki is really hurting me with so much overprice in my country.

      Yeah, the engines were great but the rest of the bike...That’s why guys used to buy the English Rickman rolling chassis, at least you could get it to brake and handle. You wouldn’t have to do that with the new Z. How do you rate the new Z?

      To be fair I pick it up next week, although I had a decent test ride on it - I'm getting some things added to it, including braided lines, just didn't quite have the feedback I wanted. I'll probably put an Ohlins adjust on the fly rear unit on it, around $1800 here in Oz.

    What brand and size protective jeans are you wearing? I like the fit (looseness) that you're wearing at 6:09 minutes in. I'm 6'0", 175lbs (slender build) and normally wear jeans with 34" waist, 32" inseam.

    This bike identifies with a era and specifically the Z1, arguably the fastest bike of the time. To that class of riders those days were golden to them. I think that's where Kawasaki are capitalizing with the price. This bike's a winner only apart from the price

    If I add a second bike its going to be a neo-retro and the z900RS is tops on my list. As Adam said, its MSRP is too much for what the bike is....Since I'm in no hurry, I can always wait to find a clean used one.

    Good reivew. But about the suspension, its actually upgraded Z900 suspension, and the Z900 has very positive feedback on its suspension the RS is better and has more adjustments ability's than z900.

      for 99% STREET RIDING YOU WILL NEVER overcome limitation of suspension.There is no point of having top notch suspension for street riding when very little of it matters.Most people lack skills to test outer reaches of bik's abilities.I ride 1992 CB750 and I push hard in corners with crappy suspension and yet never felt it limited my riding.I am talking about shit 1992 parts bin stock suspension.Bike is fine buy it and don't change a thing.

    i so want this bike. one thing i hate is the front brake oil reservoir, i mean c'mon it's like a new car with a big scratch on the hood. you look at the bike front view and all i see is this plastic cup. i know it's they want the bike to look like the original but in my opinion they should have done something different with this.

      Close, but they both need FOUR proper chrome pipes out back 2B Retro-correct. This four in2 two pipes stuff is unacceptable.

      I thought that's what thst said about ther z900, not the rs model, where they are saying its smooth roll on power at lower to mid range.

    I was considering this bike, then I saw the price and comparison shopped. Then I bought a Yamaha XSR900.

    • @RidersDomain
      @RidersDomain  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We're pretty big fans of the XSR. A lot of performance hidden under a character-driven aesthetic. To be fair though, the Z900RS is a very niche bike. All else aside, I can understand why you went with the Yamaha in this case.

    • @mcdick
      @mcdick 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you test driven these? I've only tested the XSR700 and Z900RS (went actually to test the XSR900, but it wasn't available) and they are quite different sort of bikes. Fortunately it was on same session and back-to-back. The Kawa is gentleman where as even the baby XSR is quite a hooligan. The 700 has short wheelbase and likes to wheelie and have fun. The Kawa on the other hand is fast, but longer wheelbase makes it much less nimble and more civilized. The fit and finish is much nicer in the Z900 RS. The RS would be very nice tourer (if you keep it max 120km/h).
      I'm thinking about gettin another bike next spring and the XSR900 is my top canditate. I'll have to test it also, but if it's just 700 unplugged, i think it's a winner.

    This bike whilst it looks great it is very much undersized compared to the old Z1. A very short bike in fact, just look how big the seat is on the classic footage of the old bike in this video. Not really big enough for a passenger but great bike for a solo rider.

    • @jazzysaravana
      @jazzysaravana 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Macushla Marsh Don't let the videos deceive you. The new Z900RS is substantially large motorcycle. You must check it at a dealership to see how big it really is.

    I appreciate how hard they worked to "tune" the exhaust sound to retro specs. I wish however, they would've stayed true to the FOUR chrome pipes theme. They could have done it. Why wait until the aftermarket comes out with it?
