    Great video - super helpful. It might be worth noting that on Android phones the battery first setting is actually labelled 'TOU-Charging'...but works exactly as you have shown. Looking forward to more Growatt related videos!

    I wish all TH-cam videos explaining what to do to those with little knowledge of technical applications like myself were as simply explained. Every step to undertake was clear, and your presentation style is excellent,not rushed through with what are often key bits missing as others do. This is so helpful, if Growatt made lagers you would be head brewer.

    Hi, I just wanted to add my thanks for your video which was very easy to follow. I'm on a new EDF tariff for EV charging between midnight and 5am which costs 8p/kWhr. However, when I charge my EV it takes all of the power out of the battery first, so by 1 am the battery is flat, until it gets recharged by the panels. Consequently, I'm using expensive grid power for half of the day. Now I'll be able to charge the EV from the grid between midnight and 4pm and then recharge the battery to about 60% from 4pm to 5pm. I love optimisations like this and in the winter it'll even more effective.

    Hiya Deege, great video. We learnt so much from just this one video that I have subscribed to your channel. We had our system fitted last October with little or no information from the supplier/ installers. We knew NOTHING about forced charge or discharge of the batter. We are on Octopus Agile Outgoing for export and Octopus Flexible for import. I think we have to be on Agile Outgoing for a year before we can change. We both have EV’s but luckily we can charge these at work for free. Once again thank you and we look forward to watching more videos from you

    Great, informative video!
    Here's one for you...
    Can I reduce the battery charge rate from solar?
    After the house load, excess is being rushed into the batteries at 100% (up to 3kw/h) I can then be full (20kw) by the afternoon which can result in a restriction in generation. Is there a way to reduce priority charge to say 80% (max 2.4kwh) and exporting a larger amount to the grid earlier in the day?

    ADD OPTIMIZER VIDEO - I can see on the Growatt (Shine) desktop portal there's the option to ADD OPTIMIZER to gain visibility of the Tigo Optimisers.
    It would be great if you did a video on this as the "Select Inverter" option doesn't allow you to proceed (not sure if this is an individual issue)?
    I currently have low solar performance (which I'd expect with a winter install) but I do not have any Tigo visibility on the few sunny days we did have to see why the panel performance was still poor?

    Hi Tim,
    Not sure if you're still answering questions but here's mine.
    I have a Growatt battery & inverter. While I'm away on holiday, I set my battery to force discharge between 4pm & 7pm when my Octopus Flex export prices are highest. When you're away for a month at a time, this can be quite lucrative.
    The thing is, when I go into ShinePhone, if I set the discharge rate to 50%, it simply resets the number to 100%. Why???

    I guess you have fixed rates for specific times like 01:00 am to 04:00 am.
    But how can you control the growatt inverter based on tarifs cause we have dynamic tarifs from the german power exchange.
    I would need a rule based charging like if before 6 am and price below 0,3 € then charge
    Any ideas how to get access ?
    I get the tarifs for the next 24 hours each evening so I do know in advance the prices of tomorrow. Each hour has its own tarif and the price right now goes usually from 25 Cent to over 45 Cent.
    I do use the home assistand system so I would prefer to get any control from there over this behaviour.

    I charge my battery to force charge for winter and summer settings. However this coming summer I plan to move onto the agile export tariff So how can I set the battery to utilise agile export to export above a certain price point and a maximum discharge percentage. Keep plugging into the sun guys

    • @deegesolar
      @deegesolar  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately, Growatt doesn't automatically work with Octopus agile like some other brands. You will still have to manually set the time when you wish to force charge your battery, and on Octopus agile you will have to do this daily to accommodate the plunge prices.

    I have two GrowattGBLI6532 and the SPH5000 inverter but my battery charge rate seems to be limited to 2.99kW - is that correct or is there a setting to raise the charge rate. Otherwise on a sunny day power is going to the grid before the battery is at 100% - thanks.

      Hiya Deege, really informative video mate. We had our system put in last October and got next to no information from the supplier/ installers whatsoever. I have subscribed to your channel and wish you lots of success mate. We have learnt so much just from this one video. We are currently on Octopus Agile Outgoing for export and Octopus Flexible for import. I believe we have to have Agile Outgoing for a year before we can change but to learn about the force charging and discharging has been an eye opener. thanks pal.

  • @julianbashford
    @julianbashford ปีที่แล้ว

    It's extremely dull having to do this every single day to get maximum use of Octopus Agile. There should be an integration layer, or someone running a service that allows you to link multiple systems together to actively manage things (without having to locally host equipment) - much like IFTTT.

    • @deegesolar
      @deegesolar  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are very few systems that work hand-in-hand with Octopus Agile. We understand the frustration and hopefully @Growatt can come up with a solution soon!

    • @julianbashford
      @julianbashford ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deegesolar I was looking at Octopus Go today - which would be an excellent solution for some, with 10p per unit costs to charge your car, except it doesn't support Zappi chargers at this point. Everywhere you turn, there's a "the market is still very young, we are early adopters" feeling out there. If you had Zappi integrated into Octopus (they have other chargers supported), you could charge a family EV car for £6.

    • @deegesolar
      @deegesolar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@julianbashford Great insight there Julian! I am sure Octopus Energy will be adding more EV Chargers soon, however it is all based on partnerships, the industry as a whole is very fast paced, which is great because there is a lot of innovation but it also means there is a lot of adapting to be done.

    • @julianbashford
      @julianbashford ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MS-watch-YT You had to adjust the charging times according to Octopus's notices each day. I've ended up moving to Octopus Go which gives you 4 hours of cheap charging for car and house - only restricted by the fact that the solar system put in by Deege is restricted to 2.87kw charging rates, which means we only get about half a day's charge into batteries. Which is gutting.
