A viewer with the PM23 Signature remote said it too will give the notification it isn't compatible. That's unfortunate and I will reach out to LG to see if that can be fixed in a firmware update.
If this does get a firmware to make it work please pin a comment or perhaps even make a short video showing the alternative premium remote and showing us where you managed to buy one. I’ve been looking at alternative universals and am not too impressed by what’s available but this PM23 looks fantastic. Looking forward to the review.
You can't find the remote controller not premium, that's really not true. The LG controller has fallen off the couch onto laminate a few times and it still works perfectly. The LG controller is certainly solid. @@vaiotuber

The g4 is stunning. Got mine yesterday. Very crisp, sharp, detailed images. Better blacks. Qdoled has slightly better color, but since samsung are incapable of making a flagship s95 that doesn't have faults, im stoked with the g4
Do you find the silver bezel distracting or noticeable while watching in a dark room? I’ve heard others say it’s fairly reflective from the tv content. Not sure why LG went with Silver 🙄🤦♂️🤷♂️. Also, for $6500, you’d think they’d have a Backlit remote!!

Last year we upgraded from a 65” A95J to the QD-OLED A95L and I was blown away by the improvement in color brightness and vibrancy. I’m very curious to hear how you convinced yourself to go back to WOLED even with MLA? I’m sure the brightness is great but won’t you be sorely missing the color volume and vibrancy of QD-OLED?
LG C4 is just as good, i have LG C4 83 inch. Dont have MLA, but when you look at them side by side, their aint much difference. Price difference is huge though. IMO, save you money and buy C4. Ratings will also tell U the small difference.
Can you tell me the distance from the bottom of the Sanus Elite Model BLFS420-B1mount to the bottom of the LG83G4? Want to mount the TV as low as possible and still clear the stereo cabinet and center speaker on top. Thanks for the video. Very helpful. I plan on buying both the LG83G4 TV and the Sanus Elite Model BLFS420-B1 TV mount. Also, do you have a favorite recessed outlet with cable slots? @@exhibitD79 Very well, my g4 65 strikes me every time I watch it, I don't miss my s95c, in the bedroom I have a95k from 55 and the g4 in my main room where I play and watch movies, s95c had signal abandonments in game mode plus a bt2020 to calibrate, tone mapping we are not there yet, the g4 as image processing and electronics has now approached Sony
@@Thegame-nt2pe Thanks for the feedback! I also spents weeks getting the S95C looking good in game mode using BT2020. It did get pretty good but I never got the blacks right and there was no way to adjust. I am really looking forward to have more granualar image controls for game mode. Lots of games need fixing for best display with broken HDR etc. Can't get the black floor lower on the Samsung. My only area of concern is if bright colourful lights in games and movies get washed out on the G4 compared to QD-oled.
@@exhibitD79 I haven't noticed that much difference, to be honest. The G4 is one hell of a TV, would highly recommend it no doubt, plus it is really bright. Colours are fantastic, I know people make a big deal about colour but I haven't seen much difference between them. I will definitely have the G4 over the S95C.
Any settings you recommend for the A95L for SDR brightness? My A95L is darker for some reason. My LG G2 is brighter in every picture mode. Even game mode, the LG 2 is brighter. On previous Sony OLED I watched SDR in custom but professional is too dark.
I have 55G4, everything is better with G4 but I dont like panel, uniformity is not the best, too many vertical bars on gray scale, pink tinting on white images, and when you play RDR2 open map and try panning camera left to right and backwards, I see bars and tinting awful... Only I like qd oled is uniformity almost perfect, I wish LG make tvs with qd oled panels, that would be perfect combination

Does your 83G4 have a dark thin band in the middle of the tv? A lot of users on avs have noticed them on the 77 and 83G4. Mostly can see it during panning shots and in blue sky’s while gaming.

Great review, as always...especially liked the install portion of the review. I have the G2 and did opt for the mounting bracket that comes with the TV. However, I was not able to get a flush mount...I thought that maybe the installers didn't do a good job...But after seeing the installation portion of your review it appears that you will allows have a problem with the Gallery mount. Still like my G2....but I must say the G4 does look awesome and have some significant upgrades.

It's actually a lot cheaper in the U.S. Here in the UK, the 83" is currently £7,000 which is standard for LG launch prices. $6,500 coverts to about £5130, so that's a huge discount you're getting.

It’s funny you talked about the mount because I had that exact situation with my G4. Studs weren’t perfectly centered and wall isn’t totally flat. I opted for a Sanus mount also. Works out well and I can pull it to the front of my media cabinet for movies.
It's a small complaint, but a legitimate one for those that want a premium remote with their premium TV. It doesn't make sense when they have a much better remote already.
I would be curious to hear what you prefer for motion settings for movie watching. I ended up going with user settings of de-judder 5. De-Blur set to zero. The cinematic movement preset was not cutting it for me.
De-Blur is for high frame rate content like sports. De-Judder is for lower frame rate movies and TV shows. I personally do not like any interpolation smoothing affect look, and I'm only using De-Judder at 1.

Classy can you check G4 for grid pattern, pink tint, DSE? I returned mine 55G4, pink in the middle, bluish sides, and some DSE.

Did your screen have a protective film on it? I just got my 83" G4 and it doesn't have the pull tabs or appear to have the film.

That 83" is awesome, I personally wouldn't use the lg mount. I prefer a more sturdy articulating mount like you used.

There have been reports of screen tearing at 120 hz with vrr enabled. Can you please test it?
