    Quite often you'll see these things dug in because they have a built in self-entrenching blade. Sure, it's not quite as good as getting your support crew to dig you a trench, but they can self-entrench in the space of something like 5 minutes, far quicker than getting the lads to shovel you a defensive berm.

      You welcome. I find it very clever since such smart arty munition in the west costs 15-20 thousends per round while this is just small rocket-scramjet unit installed on top of ordinary old round instead of original contact igniter. In combination with UAV equiped with laser marker, it very effectively and for fraction of price, supplying smart aviation bombs.

      Every Russian gun starting from 152 mm calibre can shoot tactical nuclear rounds. By default.

    • @BillPurkayastha
      @BillPurkayastha 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Even American artillery of the 1950s-60s could fire tactical nukes. It's not that unusual. In fact I'll bet you that for all the ballistic missiles that it tests for media attention, North Korea has mounted at least some of its nuclear arsenal on its (extremely formidable) artillery.

      It's just a mech decal on the back of the bleachers. The photo is likely from a tank proving ground display similar to Bovington (while not currently in progress so it is empty), and to break up the uniform black of the bleacher stand, they just slapped a photo of a mech onto it.
      Looks like the real thing, but since it appears to be located near one of the underside entrances for the seating, I would guess its also used as an indicator for location.

    Hey Matt! I've always understood that the US and Soviets had differing Armored/Maneuver Warfare doctrines, but the specifics of them escape me, are there any good and comprehensive videos you'd recommend that illustrate these differences? Thanks if you read this, cheers from the US 1st Infantry Division!

      6 important differences:
      1. US doctrine depends on air control before anything else, Russian doctrine does not presume friendly air cover.
      2. US doctrine believes in using heavy fire power to support struggling maneuvers, Russian doctrine favors falling back if maneuver is not successful and only reinforcing successful pushes.
      3. US doctrine places heavy emphasis on single shot marksmanship with rifles, Russian doctrine emphasizes automatic fire.
      4. The primary firepower in the US squad comes from the machine gun, the primary firepower in the Russian squad comes from the rifleman.
      5. The primary method of fire support in the US is airstrikes, the primary method of fire support for Russians is artillery.
      6. US leaders task mission orders, Russian leaders task objective orders.

    Seeing you've joined the RCA (see? I was nice and didn't say Herbies but I do love Herbieburgers) what's the general feeling about our "new" towed guns rather then the SP? Really felt retiring the M109 was a mistake..

    The MLRS was envisaged as the answer to these things, offering devastating counter battery fire from a single launcher asset. Shoot and bloody scoot, being most important. Before they can retaliate.

    I heard that in Poland Chuikov was low on fuel after kicking German ass out of the Ukriane. Anyway he supposedly ordered all vodka available to be added to the remaining fuel reserves for his tanks and other mechanized vehicles. It turned out a T-34 can run on a diesel/vodka mix of about 12 to 15 percent vodka. If not more.
