Bernie Mac has a studio apartment in my head that is rent-free. The man was a legend.
Also RIP Michael Clarke Duncan (one of the guys that was shooting dice with Deebo and Smokey)
@@binkle76 the bestbout the kings of comedy
R.I.P Reynaldo Ray(Redd father in the movie).
So many greats 😢 a lot of them were my childhood that's why I think this movie is extremely nostalgic for me
a lot of people like to clown on Ice Cube for starting off as a hood rapper and now he's making family-friendly disney movies as though he sold out or something, but the people that do that don't seem to respect that he SURVIVED the hood to get the chance to be able to get that career...he deserves it.
"I love the hood, but I wouldn't raise my kids there" - Ice Cube
Debo and my grandfather died within hours of each other and it really makes me laugh thinking of them in line for the pearly gates together
Mr Parker finally got his revenge in bad santa
I always believed Bad Santa was an unofficial sequel. I wish there was a cameo of Craig and Day Day as mall security
Mr Parker had it coming.
Stealing Charlie's wife in Rhode Island, causing him to get schizophrenia 😂😂
He also stole Charles wife in Me Myself and Irene
Naa thats wild 😂😂
hahahahahaha!!!!!
I had the honor of making dinner for John Witherspoon once. Super nice dude. He was on a stand up tour, must've been '08 or so in Seattle. I was working at a bar next to the club he headlined, and he came by after and asked if the kitchen was still open. It ABSOLUTELY was. Comedy legend and a gentleman. 💯🐈
He is one of my favorite comedians. Super cool you got to meet him.
All my old school fav movies got John in em. Jealous like a mf lol. Was watching house party back the other week with my 10 year old son. Told him to keep an eye out for John... you will see him a lot in the movies we watch lol. We got this thing of watchin movies i used to watch growing up together :)
Pops was watching "Man's Best Friend " while recovering from his dog bite.
Underrated movie....we went to see that in 93 when it came out in the theatre
Smokey & Deebo would reunite in 300 years w/ Bruce Willis 😆
Damn it's that far in the future???
As a random aside Angela Means, the actress who played Felicia, just opened a vegan restaurant out here in rural west Texas.
At 4:58 It took me literally DECADES before I noticed there was another dude in her bed when she's chewing out Craig. This movie is a level of brilliance we rarely see.
Man, I've never noticed that cat back there either until you pointed it out! What a revelation lol.
Lol well don’t worry it is not the Mandela effect, he was always there.
This may be one of the most realistic "hood" settings I've seen. As someone who grew up in a similar area, not all low income housing neighborhoods are East Baltimore.
The realism is a big reason the other movies don't live up to this one. There are no real stakes in the sequels, and no sense of danger or tension.
@@mage1439 yep they wasn’t authentic as this one
Another factoid: The actress who played Felicia has a son who played QB and was drafted by my Detroit Lions. His name is Brad Kaaya.
From what I understand, she also moved to Tahoka, TX and is opening a vegan restaurant.
@@Grovester77 Yea she is a pro chef who had a ghost kitchen in LA
And she was fine in real life!
@@Jerzeejaylive She was a model before this movie.
I largely avoid people’s reactions to Friday just cuz I don’t think most can really get and appreciate the humor and story but glad I tapped in for this video. I’m so glad you enjoyed it too. Made the reaction that much funnier
The sudden look of recognition on your face after, "Bye Felicia", was priceless!
- 2:06 LaWanda Page. Played Aunt Esther on Sanford and Son
- 3:39 Regina King. Played Cubes "girl" in Boyz in the Hood
- 4:54 Most people don't realize or SEE the guy lying on the bed next to her 🤣
- 7:46 That's DJ Pooh, he's the on that wrote the movie with Cube.
- 9:18 The guy who told Ezell to get up off the floor was the director, F. Gary Gray
-
She a whole vibe, she valid, The black delegation would like to invite this woman to the cookout
"Cultural landmark" really is the best description of Friday...it carries itself well on so many levels...great cast, great writing, quotable lines, memorable moments, great comedy, serious issues and an absolutely magnificent soundtrack!!!
This is just a classic. You can’t go wrong with Friday. I tried to rewatch this every few years or so and it never fails to crack me up.
Pops is a legend!!!! ❤❤❤ He will be missed.
I was about to point out the high pitched sound, but then I heard Chris Tucker's voice, and he instantly got even funnier.
*John Coffey rollin dice with Deebo😆
He wanted a line or a speaking role. The director said he regrets not being able to give him some lines but they had limited funding
You know its a good reaction when the laughs come with a side of the snorts. So many quotable lines too. Big Worm's "The fuck THAT gotta do with me?" will never not make me laugh.
I love how every single character in this is like a cartoon character. Everyone is quirky and has a distinctive look that makes them memorable and recognizable. Like in The Simpsons.
I never put the Clerks thing together till you said it. Now I see it.
I’ve always thought that
Fun fact the director of the movie F Gary Gray is the store owner
He worked there, but the owner of the "Black Owned Business" was the Asian guy behind the counter. Lol
It took me 20 years to notice that when Craig's girlfriend is accusing him of cheating on the phone in the beginning there's a guy sleeping next to her on the bed .
Same 😂
Epic reaction to this great movie. As I was watching you watch this I was struck by the pace and tone feeling like Clerks and then, BAM, Matthew's notes. Never felt so proud to spot a film's influence. And I think this has weathered the years better than Clerks.
Best reaction Ever to this movie! I couldn’t stop laughing 😂
Uncle johnny aka john Witherspoon is a longtime family friend RIP uncle johnny miss you
We're watching 'Friday' on a Wednesday.... Smash the system!
Another fact: The Soundtrack had alot of good artist but there was some beef between ice cube stealing a song from Cypress hill and ice cube making money off them without there permission. Its on the soundtrack still lol.
I got to meet Tommy 'Tiny' Lister a few years before he died in a sports bar in Orange County CA. Him and former 70's Oakland Raider Otis Sistrunk were guests of a former USC football player that day. Tommy actually did grow up in Compton.
Smokey somehow forgot that he already had $100
Lmao Thats What Smoking Lots of Weed Would Do to some people Heads 😂😂 Have Amnesia Or He Probably Spent Dat 100$
After watching Boyz N The Hood and Friday it’s a must to watch Straight Outta Compton. The Biopic about Ice Cube and his group NWA. Ice Cube’s real son plays him in the movie and there’s a scene in there with him writing the Friday script.
An absolute classic of the 90s. I won't fail to watch. I am glad u reacted. You crack me up. Your laugh is contagious
A lot of people don't notice it, but when the girlfriend first calls and talks to Craig on the phone, there's a guy in bed behind her sleeping lol
I had seen this sooo many times back in the day, but it wasn't until people started doing reactions to it, that I realised that there's a guy there 😂
@freemansteinslab same here. The more I watched it, the more I noticed. Lol
At least 20 times before I noticed
I never saw that. Now I have to rewatch!
I'm old. I worked at a theater when this came out, so I saw this movie a lot, and I always wondered why no one caught that joke. It's literally RIGHT THERE IN YOUR FACE! Yet no one caught it until TH-cam.
But I'm glad it's getting it's due. Just makes a re-watch that much better!
Rip to pops👃
I was watching another TH-cam video and immediately put it on pause as soon as I got the notification about you reacting to this movie. This channel is easily in my top 5. Your laughter and giggles are infectious. Hope Next Friday gets a reaction too. Peace and love!
My boss said he'd never fire someone on their day off after seeing this movie
My sister & I quote this movie ALL THE TIME. 😂I’m dying just thinkin’ ab Smokey shitting in the bushes
The neighborhood in which Friday was set is the same South Central Los Angeles area in which director F. Gary Gray spent his childhood. Principal houses that were used for filming were houses of old friends of Gray. The scene where Deebo (Tommy Lister Jr.) punches Red (DJ Pooh) causing him to fly through the air is Gray's childhood home.
I took an unplanned detour down the street where they filmed this and it took me a minute to realize why it all seemed so familiar. The convenience store is only a couple minutes away as well.
So before this movie Deebo was known by all of us as Zeus. Hulk Hogan's enemy in wrestling and main bad guy in Hulk Hogan's first movie No Holds Barred. Back then the guy wasn't just big he was also ripped, like bodybuilder ripped.
I really really really hope you continue this series ! ! !
I am loving the hell out of this ! ! !
I just have to thank you two. I really enjoyed your reactions this month. The laughter was infectious and movies were "right on"
The Movie Craig's father watches is called Man's Best Friend, it's a great B-Grade movie about a killer genetically modified and part robot Dog starring Ally Sheedy and Lance Henriksen (the scene where it kills the Cat is stuff of Legend).
Straight Outta Compton covers most of the basic stuff you would need to know about NWA and the aftermath of everything. It is mostly serious with a few humorous moments.
F Gary Gray makes cameos in his films. Another classic of his is the movie 'Set It Off' with 4 female leads. Two of which are Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith. That one won't disappoint!
This movie's a MASTERPIECE!!!!!
A COMEDIC GEM!!!!!🤣
25:29 that "get knocked out like your father used to" line always confused me. Originally in the script Mr.Jones was an amateur boxer in the past who never made it to professional.
I figured his dad use to get into fights
Considering how everybody knows everybody on that street, he probably knows that Mr. Jones always lost and never made it.
Also the outfit he wears thru out the movie is the same outfit he wears in the 'Today Was A Good Day' video.
Mrs.Parker funny as hell watering some dirt
19:55 he so scary because he use to be a pro wrestler back in the 80s in the WWF as Zeus
I like how Mrs. Parker was just watering dirt, lol.
Another movie Ice Cube wrote is Players Club, which I think you would enjoy as well
The director also did The Negotiator and the Italian Job remake.
I LOVE The Negotiator, I wish more people would react to it.
@@taneshah.1260u ain't lying!!!
@@taneshah.1260 The Negotiator is so underrated. I'm surprised there aren't many channels reacting to it
In the exstended version, you see Izael running with the boxes Craig got fired for 😂😂😂😂
In the background of one of the shots, two guys were sitting on the corner drinking and refused to move so they could shoot that part. So they did it quickly with them there
Needed a laugh today, just lost my job today, ❤ the reactions 👍
Was it your day off?
You're not alone.my friend.
Classic film and Great Reaction by you !
If you like the father's routine, I highly recommed Boomerang makes his scenes here seem like an audition. He clowns Eddie Murphys character hard, by far one of his best movie roles ever. "Bang, bang, bang" came from that movie.
I think you'll like Eddie Murphy Harlem Nights
Absolutely! That movie is hilarious!
You gotta watch the director's cut with extended scenes.
Love to see you drinking Parish Ghost In the Machine! One of the best IPA in the world!
I’ve seen a lot of people react to this movie…. This was one of my favorite reactions. And I’ve seen this movie over 50 times….. I recommend “The Wood” with your husband. lol. Also when he gets home tell ‘em you’ve been deemed Julia Jackson, Janet Jackson’s cousin.
Fun fact Michael Clarke Duncan (The Big dude who was shooting dice with Deebo and Smokey) and Meagan Good (the little girl in the baseball cap) were in this movie too
Emily, you're such a kind soul, and a genuine, kindred spirit. I love seeing your reactions to movies that have brought a smile to my face for so long. Friday is now somewhat of a "classic" for so many of us...which is crazy... and makes me feel a bit old...but oh well. lol I saw the thumbnail for this video and immediately thought "awww!!" :)
I can’t wait for the Next Friday & Friday After Next reaction for a fact your gonna be on the floor laughing 😂😂
"Come on, I already dropped. If you don't drop too I'll be the only one tripping." School bus on the way to school, freshman year of HS. Ended up sneaking off campus and taking a cab to see Highlander 2. (yes, I am old). But that was pressure to do drugs again. There was never any pressure to do them for a first time. Just once you'd done them it was assumed you'd always be down to do them again so come on and hit/drop/snort whatever it is so it doesn't have to be done alone.
Your constant laughing was awesome.
At school we endlessly quoted this movie, Ace Ventura, and the Mask lol.
Felicia is also in House Party 3.
F Gary Gray has some great movies (like Set it Off). Check him out.
You and your husband are always welcome at the cookout. You're a light-skinned cousin. On another note, I met Tiny Lister (Deebo) in Chicago. He was a very sweet, humble man. We were at the Boys and Girls Club and the kids were all over him.
So many classic lines 😂
I just realized I still use the "for my cataracts" line today from this movie 😂😂😂 RIP Bernie Mac 🙌🏾
Thee absolute BEST reaction hands down! EVER!!!!
Great reaction Emily, Friday is a classic stoner/ hangout flick, I'll recommend the sequels Next Friday and Friday after next.
Both funny but not as good as the OG but Worth watching.
Yes! Highly recommended Straight Outta Compton
DJ Pooh was a writer of this film, as well. He also wrote the screenplay for The Wash, which o think you would like
My stoner friends and I used to hang out and say ' What's up m- WELL FK YOU THEN!" before anyone got a chance to respond.
I'd like to see you do a solo screening of the 1980 movie "My Bodyguard." It is a comedy/drama movie about high school bullies.
I never got peer pressured into doing drugs, either lol...one guy--ONE GUY--tried when I was a freshman in high school and it lasted about 5 seconds before he gave up and left.
Him: "You do pot?"
Me: "No."
Him: "Why not?"
Me: "Why should I?"
Him: (stares blankly and pauses) "....but why not?"
Me: "Why should I?"
Him: "Because it makes you feel good."
Me: "I already feel good."
That's when he gave up and left.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!
I could watch her watch every movie ever made. I can't get enough.
The Front Page is an hilarious movie.
17:55
The girl wearing the blue hat is Meagan Goode.
Oh, how I've been waiting for this one.
When the ms parker reveal came up,i had the same look
Now you have to watch the 1996 Hilarious spoof of Hood movies called "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" ... And YES.. That is the actual name of the movie!! LMFAO!! You would LOVE IT!
You’re a hoot😂. Love your sense of humor. I’d recommend reacting to the Scary Movies comedy. 1 & 2 were produced by the Wayans brothers and are hilarious. The rest of them were good also, except for #5.
You did a great job reacting to Friday with the perfect amount of comments. I'm so glad you all chose Friday. It's just such a cult project in our community. peace. 😊
You really do have to watch boomerang! With Eddie Murphy, Martin, Lawrence, and David Allen, Greer. It’s hilarious.
This aught to be a giggle-fest.
How about "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka!" (1998) - it's a blaxpoitation parody directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans.
@Just Sum, sad the hubby wasn't there but you got all the best lines and were a treat to see fall in love with it
17:56 The little girl in the denim cap that said she hates Big Worm is Meagan Good
Regina King has, among other many other roles, voiced both Huey and Riley in the adult cartoon The Boondocks. And John Witherspoon was the voice of their grandfather
Check the rest of the 'Friday' trilogy. And then check out the 'Barbershop' trilogy also starring Ice Cube.
Omg... I've seen this move sooo many times and just noticed the guy in the bed when Craig's girlfriend was on the phone lol
As a former smoker, Emily, as Boy Scouts, always be prepared! lol Word of the day is "Dry Mouth" think......lol
R.I.P To Some Of The Actor's Who We're In This Movie, Still Miss You All, Always 😢😢😢😢
The Jehovah witness was a famous comedienne Lawanda Page. U may remember as aunt Ester from Sanford and Son.
Mrs Parker was so fine ain't nobody notice she was watering dirt & one lonely flower lol😅
Friday was always so hilarious!🤣
DJ Pooh's 3 strikes is a fantastic movie (good luck finding it). Gta V pooh was in that too
