I am way older than sundai, and I'm ashamed to say I gave up on my dreams to live in Japan. I took 4 years of Japanese in school because I KNEW I was going to live there. Do life kicking my back side I gave up and focused on my everyday struggles. I'm so happy I came across her videos, she gave me hope again.

Reno is expensive!! Amd you need permission and permits for everything ! Even for any garbage before and after construction begins. I really like this house too
yes and pretty affordable, roughly $15-16k for the property. I also don't know how much for the repairs but I'm sure a lot of it she can do with the help of Ash and other friends, such as flooring and replacing the bathroom/kitchen appliances. The roof and the wiring is a little off putting but I'm sure it would be worth it to invest into. 😊
If renovations in Japan are expensive, then just prioritize the roof leaks. For plumbing and electricity, she can probably close the valve / breakers on most and just focus on making liveable just one room / hallway at a time for a slow piecemeal renovation process. That's option one. But in my experience a repaired / renovated house will always manifest a leak or some other problem all the time. So the second option is to just tear down everything but recycle the materials -- I'm assuming the price of 2M yen is mostly for the land. She doesn't really need a big traditional Japanese house per se... she just wants the classic architecture and enough space as not to notice the neighbors. Thus...build a "junior" tiny house version that captures the essentials of the original house -- the engawa, maybe 1 or two traditional tatami rooms, a kitchenette and a bathroom. If I were to price it all... 2M for the land, 2M to dismantle, 6M for tinified new version... 10M yen total, while no longer a bargain, up to that amount will still be worth it to have a nice place with a nice view.
Sundai PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET MOLD TESTING DONE before you buy, mold will make you so sick, especially immune compromised. Whatever your final choice is, have mold testing done! 💗

In 2020 I was meant to move to Japan and my goal was to buy a traditional house with an engawa with a small land for a vegetable garden. 2020 was tough year for almost everyone and I lived my Japan vicariously through your channel, thank you. Every now and again that dream of mine occupies prime real estate in my head and truthfully I don't know if I will be able to fulfil it. I know a lot of us a rooting for you from wherever we are watching from and we are all inspired ❤

Sundai, when I say you are a vibe, you are a VIBE! I saw this on my homepage and instantly clicked. I didn't grow up well off, struggled my way through uni with the grace of God, and have just adored Asian culture for the longest. I initially got into the K hype, and with your videos and research and just the wonders of Japan, I've switched my desire to move to Korea and instead Japan. I live on an island halfway across the world, with no ability to speak Japanese, and with no desire to go into the teaching sphere, but I'm not losing hope. Even if I don't permanently move there (because I'm also hyped about Europe), definitely want to live there for at least a year or two. I literally just started my mid-twenties, and I've just stopped worrying about marriage and children and more so my life, and being content and not feel like I'm behind. I don't have to wait until marriage to buy a house, and if I do get married, well we'll just have two LOL, I don't have to rush to do everything in my 20s, I don't have to feel pressured, but I do want to work hard. Thank you for all your videos. I'm so proud of all your hard work. I was so happy for your Korean videos, because as a little black girl myself, I was glad to see someone like me doing what I wanted. I fell off your journey along the way, but I'm glad you're well and are doing things that make you happy. Your videos are funny, and I adore your editing, and you're just an inspo to lil black girls everywhere. ALSO: GURLLLLLL, Japanese currency is relatively the same dollar for dollar for my currency, and when you said 2 mil, I was like, I can't even buy land for two mil near a major city here! You're such an inspiration Sundai and also as a fellow sis with a chronic condition-and yes I know how difficult that can be while achieving your dreams, I wish you so many more blessings! I think bringing a realtor is smart move. They have a lot of experience when looking at all the malfunctions of a house, especially a very old abandoned one. Like some roofs/foundations/insulation or houses in a whole are beyond saving, if you don't know that however it'll be a waste actually driving all the way to houses you can't save. Don't get me wrong I love the video! Love your dream too, wish I could do the same. Renovating a house tho you should think about every little aspect. Things break when renovating or you may find the house is full of water damage or mold when renovating and is basically.. a goner.

I think bringing a realtor is smart move. They have a lot of experience when looking at all the malfunctions of a house, especially a very old abandoned one. Like some roofs/foundations/insulation or houses in a whole are beyond saving, if you don't know that however it'll be a waste actually driving all the way to houses you can't save. Don't get me wrong I love the video! Love your dream too, wish I could do the same. Renovating a house tho you should think about every little aspect. Things break when renovating or you may find the house is full of water damage or mold when renovating and is basically.. a goner.
