      Hi William, I like the Abu 704 to, I was using the Diawa 125m in this film though which I think has better pick up and winds in quicker. Best wishes and thank you for watching.

    17:46 Re line - do you use 75 handle turns (approx 50mts) on your closed face like the old ABU's?
    I'm still a big fan of Silstar Match. It's not as robust as some but low dia. 4.6lb @ 0.14mm - Float rigs on 4lb Maxima, so you can move the shot, down to a Silstar 3.3lb @ 0.12mm hooklength. I like the stretch in the Silstar - it's like pole elastic👌
    Have you tried balling some heavy crushed hemp groundbait upstream?

      I have never counted the turns but yes groundbait works well. I generaly go for clear coloured line for float fishing although the maxima is very robust.

    Thx Kev 👍
    Still too much hustle n bustle to persuade me to go river fishing (or canals for that matter) 🥴

    Some cracking roach there kev, are you going to continue fishing the Trent through the winter ,it would be interesting if the fish stop there as other stretches seem barren of fish .🎣🐟

      Hi David, have to fit fishing in arround work, family and if the river is in the right condition to but hopefully will get a few more winter sessions in before March.

    My old stomping ground, this stretch has always been free to fish. The steps are in a right state. Lovely racket around you, but, a decent catch. It can be tough along those stretches, might see you there! Can you still park along there?

    • @nottsfishingkbtv402
      @nottsfishingkbtv402  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, you can park. It is free at weekends to park on the embankment to and walk over the bridge

      @nottsfishingkbtv402 brill, those steps and graffiti need sorting out. I went to wilford meadows in the 1980's and it's sad to see the place like that.

      You can use a plumet but for Roach fishing I chose to vary my dept according to if the float starts to drag on and also where the fish is hooked in the mouth, the Roach should be hooked centre of the top lip, if your hook them in the bottom lip you are too deep

    Fished the other side where they are building the new pool a couple of weeks ago and caught absolutely nothing over about three hours. haven't got the years of experience that you have Kev and I'm probably doing everything wrong. I was using completely different gear, a twelve foot rod, an open reel (never tried a closed one, is there an advantage?) The current was running very fast and I found it really tricky to plumb the depth. I didn't see you plumbing the depth in this video, where you placing your bait on the river bed, or was it raised above the bottom, if so by how much? will probably bump into you one of these fine days. I've recently bought some polaris floats, would you recommend them on the trent, not tried them yet.

    • @nottsfishingkbtv402
      @nottsfishingkbtv402  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Keith, see last weeks video where I fished near the front of the pool location. It is shallower there and if the river was chocolate coloured and running through you would have struggled to get bites. I don't always use a plumet, I usually alter the depth from dragging on the bottom to just off bottom to find bites and adjust by where the fish are hooked. Ideally the fish should be hooked in the top lip and the bites should be slow. If you are getting fast bites and missing them you are fishing too shallow. Never use a polarus float. Best wishes

    i watched Dave Harrel fishing those steps 25 years ago on video. Looks like the council have given up keeping the place weed free
