    Hey, nice job on the glass ! Wd 40 works to get glue off skin , before it cures. Try masking tape around the glass and body when you use the sealer, makes nice clean straight edge .

    Ingenuity is key to building a hot rod. Glass looks great!

    I would have the join of the rubber at the top of the glass. That way it would be harder for water to seep through into the car. If the join is at the bottom, the water from all the glass surface will pool at the bottom and find any gap to seep through.

      Not really trying to make a watertight seal with the channel, it's more for cushioning. The sealant stuff should take care of water tightness.....hopefully.

    Amazing how expensive the rubber for doors and windows is. Looks nice with glass in it! Well done!

    Dave, the glass turn out great! Those are the good kind of pains to have . I'm can't wait to see how you finish the inside of the doors and install the windows. I really am enjoying your openers.

    the tabs you bent over the glass have holes in them for the screws that go through the inside glass moldings that finish and allow the headliner to have a finish around the glass.....all of the interior of the windows has a molding that goes around them

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I know, but I don't have them and would also require building the inner body out about 4 inches.

      @@ScottRods that was the G M problem they used wood for longer than any other of the manufactures...could use steel tube instead of wood...seen some people use 2x4 lumber for that also...your gonna need something to take up the space so you can install the headliner....just tryin to help make life easier...

    Good morning Dave. I know all about window and door rubber mouldings. I paid almost $1,000.00 for the proper window and door rubber, felts and channels for just 2 doors plus my floor matt to fit in the 54 Fargo. It's a shame for sure. The glass really turned out nice Dave. The gray looks very nice, but you should have sprayed RUST CHECK on it first. You may end up with rust bleeding through the paint down the road. Just saying. Rubber gloves would really be good as well. WHO WEARS THE PANTS IN THE HARTMAN HOUSEHOLD 🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing.

    Was suprised that you didn't use the butyl rubber that's used to install windshields. I believe it's available in 1/4 & 5/16s diameter would be a press and hold application. Gd job anyways getting closer.

    If you decide to use garnish trim, those tabs are used to hold them, glass and your headliner

    Dave,where did you get your glass rubber kit from, Amazon? Did you make a template for you glass and have it cut out at Glass Shop ? Thanks

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Amazon for the rubber seal. I was lucky that I only needed a U Channel seal that goes round the glass. The windows are installed from inside the car and rest against a metal lip, then interior trim pushes against the glass to hold it in place. I then used a tube of rubber sealant on the outside to finish it off.
      I made the template out of cardboard and got a local glass guy to cut it. Flat glass panels are easy.

    What size is the U channel?

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The size you need is totally dependent of the thickness of your glass, and how much overlap you want for your application. I think for me, I got 4mm inside U Channel, with about 15mm wall. But as I say, depends what you are fitting.
