Thank you so much for this video, I have a ‘42 5 passenger coupe that desperately needs new vent window seals. I have been apprehensive about tackling this project since I couldn’t find a clear, straight to the point video on how to do it, better yet to my exact application. Thanks again!!
Sorry no video about that on the horizon. I always strongly suggest getting a shop manual, not a Haynes or a Chilton either. Thanks so much for watching.
I typically start on ebay, but you can buy them from any parts supplier such as chevsofthe40s.com or fillingstation.com. Also from reprinters such as faxon.
You don`t need a special tool for that spring retainer, just get a shop red rag under the open side of the spring and use the edge of the rag to push up the spring, no chance of damage.
Sad they no longer male the vents. When we were growing up on my dad but light a cigarette in the car the event would suck that smoke out so we didn't have to smell it

Is more of a question Jay, how do you remove the stainless around the door glass?
You mentioned manuals a couple of times, which manuals would be best, and where would I find them? Thanks.
