A really cool thing about this movie is how the whole cast was from actually tribes found around the US and that this was the first movie to have full Comanche language dub. It was first made with English and then had them speak Comonche. Really want to watch it with that dub.
The thought that I constantly had going through my head, much the same as you've commented so far (I'm about 13 minutes in at the moment), is how beautiful so many of the shots are. This movie was filmed extremely well and overall was way better than I ever expected it would be. I'd say this is right up there with the first and second movies, although firmly my third favorite of the bunch.
This film is a good reminder that Nature is beautiful and savage -- even without the Predator. I hate seeing the animals get killed, but there is nothing warm and fuzzy about a Predator film. Gorgeous camera work, the Predator design is terrifying, and it's so awesome that this is a Native American cast. Thanks for the awesome reaction
I'm not a fan of seeing animals killed either but that Predator versus the bear rumble was awesome to see. It's cool to see Predators fighting things other than humans similar to some the fights from the AVP movies.

This movie had no right to be as good as it is. I mean, I hate when people say that shit for movies or games etc. - but the care and love that went into making this from the director to the actors is just incredible. The cinematography alone is top tier, the audio mixing (and music) is amazing. Dan Trachtenberg directed this, he also directed 10 Cloverfield Lane which was his first director's job for a film and is another banger of a movie. I know this comment is 10 months old (still going through older videos lol) but I'd highly recommend 10 Cloverfield Lane as well. Though the Cloverfield Paradox not so much.....

The Revenant is another one to check out for its beautiful natural scenery, it was shot entirely in natural light (Though it is an incredibly brutal movie) I really enjoyed Prey as well. I absolutely love the setting and narrative backdrop. It was also somewhat shocking how well made it was considering The Predator was so terrible What foreign invaders and poachers did to native lands and peoples is one of the worst acts of genocide in human history (out of far, far, too many)

Well he didn’t know she set up his helmet to use against him. He’s so advanced than humans how would he know the intelligence of a human since this is the first time a predator came to earth. Had a blast rewatching the film with the commentary on Patreon and the re-edit onto TH-cam was perfectly done. It's absolutely wild that after thirty five years we get a proper follow-up to Predator (that in many ways rivals the original). I have nostalgic affection for Predator 2 but Prey is just a beautifully-crafted film from script to execution. IMO Predator finally has a fitting companion piece for future rewatches, similar to Alien/Aliens and Blade Runner/BR2049. And Naru joins the pantheon of badass women protagonists in genre films alongside Ripley, Sarah Connor, and Sidney Prescott. I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did (especially Naru's character journey and the stunning cinematography; rarely are even big budget Hollywood movies this well-shot and directed these days).
You may have realized it later but I believe the French hunters were the ones that killed and skinned all the Buffalo. Which was a real life thing that made them almost go extinct as hunters hunted them just for their fur. Which I assumed really pissed off American Indians as they didn’t use the whole body just killed them en masse only for their fur.
can't be... The French won't meet a real Comanche till 1743. These will be Light fur traders and Weapons dealers. Quebec won't be fully Colonized with French till 1860, but they had Light traders that traveled west through what is Canada. Remember when your dealing in hides of Buffalo size, you need a Tanner not to far away. Traders in 1801 to 1951 would sell these hides to Tanners. The first Americans will reach almost west with Davy Crockett "1835" Most of the country on the west end and most of Texas was owned by Mexico at that time. Mexico was also at war with Spain, and they both were occupying what is to be the USA. So New Americans traveling through those states, they would be killed. The French traders knew this also, and traveled very light. The movie timeline is incorrect for almost everything we see in it. By 1701 Comanche breed Spanish warhorse themselves. They also acquired Low grade firearms and Iron tools, including Iron head arrows and Iron axes. We have pictures of them on their horses with 2 rifles slung on their backs with long spears, and shields on the side of the horse. I'm not saying none of these Events every happened. I'm saying they did not all happen in the year of 1717. This Fact will bring out the woke in many. {Comanche women never hunted with the men, or go far out on their own} They were the backbone of the Camp\tribe. They kept everything in order at the Camps, including planting food. The only true thing about this girl in the movie, was her being a healer. Comanche women planted many herbs for light medicine.
People complaining make me wonder if they even watched the movie. Killing the Predator took the work of several warriors, it was in a lot of pain, enraged, and underestimating her for a long time - none of which detracts from her victory.
Native Americans have a beautiful culture especially from each tribe that includes their craftwork which are thankfully protected by federal law that prevents the counterfeiting of their crafts
I only just saw this movie for the first time yesterday... as a huge fan of the original and I have those nostalgia glasses... this one is far and away better than the original. The cinematography alone makes it better. Naru is a better, more complicated, character than Dutch. Character development in general is better. Damn, I really should have watched this movie sooner. You can actually see in like a frame he actually shot out his wristblades we he didn't neccesarily punch out the bears neck he snapped it withcthr blades but that was still one hell of a maneuver
everybody has a plan till they get hit in the face, and she got hit multiple times, but she learned, adapted and overcame. Idk how the pistol timeline is gonna workout because this is a different tribe/group of predators then the ones we saw in Predator 2. Idk if they'd be boasting that one of their own couldn't complete a hunt so how'd other predators find out?
For me it's 1. Predator 2. Predators (watch this next!) 3. Prey 4. Predator 2 5. The Predator (don't even bother watching this POS, I'm glad Prey took the bad taste of The Predator out of my mouth!) ...also the first AVP was okay, 2nd one was okay but not as good.
This was way better than I thought it was going to be. I see why people are raving about this movie. If they make more prequels like this I'll watch them. My favorite in the series other than the original is Predators with Adrian Brody, that movie surprised me that it would be so good. I gave this 8/10! I saw this film on HULU With my dad, and it's pretty impressive! They even premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and the audience loved it! They gave it a 10 minute standing ovation!
Why did you think it was so good? Could you not see the CGI that was worse than movies 30 years ago? Could you not see how ridiculous it was to have a 5'5 110 pound female beating up men twice her size and beating up MULTIPLE men at once? Could you not see how ridiculous it was that no matter how much damage the Predator took none of it registered including a .50 caliber lead bullet fired point blank into the back of its head that traveled all the way through its brain and came out the front of its skull. In the first movie the Predator had to move off and perform battlefield triage after a SINGLE gunshot to the leg. Were you not aware that mountain Lions don't roar? Were you aware that the Comanche didn't live on the great planes? This was one of the worst films I have ever seen.

Next point, when you tie a rope to something and pull the rope, it will move towards you. I don't get how a grown man can't figure that out. Next, you are correct that on average anyone would lose 4 to 1, but that's not a guarantee. When it comes to fighting, there's a lot of randomness. Little skinny kid could kick you in the leg and pop your knee, and you'll go down like a sack of bricks. Plus, it's people from a firearm society fighting a person from a melee weapon society in a melee combat. Plus, as you implied, she is in much bigger danger, so adrenaline plays a roll also. Also, a mountain lion roared. OMG! Yeah, every movie should have an animal expert to avoid these mistakes. Also, a physics, weapons, plants, history, language, and 20 other experts to avoid any and all insignificant mistakes that no one except absolute wastes of life care about.

You may have realized it later but I believe the French hunters were the ones that killed and skinned all the Buffalo. Which was a real life thing that made them almost go extinct as hunters hunted them just for their fur. Which I assumed really pissed off American Indians as they didn’t use the whole body just killed them en masse only for their fur.
Well yep I forgot she revealed it outright later lol
can't be... The French won't meet a real Comanche till 1743. These will be Light fur traders and Weapons dealers. Quebec won't be fully Colonized with French till 1860, but they had Light traders that traveled west through what is Canada. Remember when your dealing in hides of Buffalo size, you need a Tanner not to far away. Traders in 1801 to 1951 would sell these hides to Tanners. The first Americans will reach almost west with Davy Crockett "1835" Most of the country on the west end and most of Texas was owned by Mexico at that time. Mexico was also at war with Spain, and they both were occupying what is to be the USA. So New Americans traveling through those states, they would be killed. The French traders knew this also, and traveled very light. The movie timeline is incorrect for almost everything we see in it.

Comanche breed Spanish warhorse themselves. They also acquired Low grade firearms and Iron tools, including Iron head arrows and Iron axes. We have pictures of them on their horses with 2 rifles slung on their backs with long spears, and shields on the side of the horse. I'm not saying none of these Events every happened. I'm saying they did not all happen in the year of 1717. This Fact will bring out the woke in many. {Comanche women never hunted with the men, or go far out on their own} They were the backbone of the Camp\tribe. They kept everything in order at the Camps, including planting food. The only true thing about this girl in the movie, was her being a healer. Comanche women planted many herbs for light medicine.
People complaining make me wonder if they even watched the movie. Killing the Predator took the work of several warriors, it was in a lot of pain, enraged, and underestimating her for a long time - none of which detracts from her victory.

I only just saw this movie for the first time yesterday... as a huge fan of the original and I have those nostalgia glasses... this one is far and away better than the original. The cinematography alone makes it better. Naru is a better, more complicated, character than Dutch. Character development in general is better. Damn, I really should have watched this movie sooner. Great reaction!

You can actually see in like a frame he actually shot out his wristblades we he didn't neccesarily punch out the bears neck he snapped it withcthr blades but that was still one hell of a maneuver

everybody has a plan till they get hit in the face, and she got hit multiple times, but she learned, adapted and overcame. Idk how the pistol timeline is gonna workout because this is a different tribe/group of predators then the ones we saw in Predator 2. Idk if they'd be boasting that one of their own couldn't complete a hunt so how'd other predators find out?
Honestly this movie is my favorite in the series thus far.

...also the first AVP was okay, 2nd one was okay but not as good.
This was way better than I thought it was going to be. I see why people are raving about this movie. If they make more prequels like this I'll watch them. My favorite in the series other than the original is Predators with Adrian Brody, that movie surprised me that it would be so good. I think one of the AVP movies takes place in Antarctica or somewhere like that, anyway I thought that was a good movie too. Great reaction J.

Alien, Aliens, Terminator, Terminator 2, Fargo, and even Buffy the Vampire Slayer are all movies that would fit in your “woke” argument but people consider all these classic movies that are absolutely amazing. I personally think they problem is y’all forget these movies is made for entertainment and to be fun and anybody who likes it are “sheep” not realizing that y’all are the same “sheep” just in a different herd. So instead of enjoying the movie y’all complain and tear apart every little thing about it because a woman is in the lead or they remaking stuff and having people of a different race play a certain part but on the flip side y’all are perfectly fine with them replacing an actor with someone white and/or forgetting that the above movies y’all cherish so much have more plot holes than donuts. I saw this film on HULU With my dad, and it's pretty impressive!
They even premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and the audience loved it!
They gave it a 10 minute standing ovation!
Why did you think it was so good? Could you not see the CGI that was worse than movies 30 years ago? Could you not see how ridiculous it was to have a 5'5 110 pound female beating up men twice her size and beating up MULTIPLE men at once? Could you not see how ridiculous it was that no matter how much damage the Predator took none of it registered including a .50 caliber lead bullet fired point blank into the back of its head that traveled all the way through its brain and came out the front of its skull. In the first movie the Predator had to move off and perform battlefield triage after a SINGLE gunshot to the leg. Were you not aware that mountain Lions don't roar? Were you aware that the Comanche didn't live on the great planes?
This was one of the worst films I have ever seen.

Flat out stupidity like having Mountain Lions roaring. I shouldn't overlook things like attaching a string to a Tomahawk turns it into Thor's hammer. Yes movies are make believe but there has to be some level of believability. For example a small 5'5 110 pound women beating up 4 men at once. That is not a fight any woman could win. You're just nitpicking because you have some personal issues with this movie. Seriously, name any movie and I'll find 10 things wrong with it. Any movie. You can nitpick anything to death. That doesn't make you smart. Actually, quite the opposite. Yeah, CGI on the animals is obvious, but it's pretty difficult to make a believable CG animal. Get over it. Next point, when you tie a rope to something and pull the rope, it will move towards you. I don't get how a grown man can't figure that out. Next, you are correct that on average anyone would lose 4 to 1, but that's not a guarantee. When it comes to fighting, there's a lot of randomness. Little skinny kid could kick you in the leg and pop your knee, and you'll go down like a sack of bricks. Plus, it's people from a firearm society fighting a person from a melee weapon society in a melee combat. Plus, as you implied, she is in much bigger danger, so adrenaline plays a roll also. Also, a mountain lion roared. OMG! Yeah, every movie should have an animal expert to avoid these mistakes. Also, a physics, weapons, plants, history, language, and 20 other experts to avoid any and all insignificant mistakes that no one except absolute wastes of life care about.
