I've never heard a song that hit me like Dance With The Devil. It just leaves you in a strange state no matter how many times you've heard it.
Only song that ever made me physically sick to my stomach
love that you listen to decent underground rap music brad. been a student of yours since 2018. hope you like canibus and jedi mind tricks too.
exactly. Never has a song hit me this hard before or after.
One of the only songs I've had my friends actually sit in silence and listen to for real... but damn, to think I'd see you here haha, love the content!
Mad seeing you here lmao. You've done great work on your channel :)
Song saved my life in high school I started thinking twice about hanging with my primos who laughed because I got a job at Walmart. Two are dead and one is still locked up in HV "The devil grows inside the hearts of the selfish and wicked".
Don't be scared homie I still hung out with every one in the hood but I know what to do and what not to do
You rican? What's hv?

“Dance with the devil” is easily one of the greatest storytelling songs, not just in Hip Hop, but in any genre of music. The story is painted so vividly that I still can’t believe no one has tried to make it into a film.
Vietnam Valor is also there
A Mad Mans dream is up there aswell
Not a fan of hip hop / rap in the slightest and could not agree more

I wonder if he realizes how many lives he saved with this song. Some of us were dancing on the line of criminal activity as kids. Flirting with it, thinking shit was fun.
Thank you immortal technique.

Still the most haunting song I've ever heard. You listen, you recognize yourself and you get the conclusion that let's you sit there and think about life. Truly a masterpiece.
Exactly
When I first heard this song I was roaming the streets with people that were half or not even half way in. And occasionaly we met up with some real dark figures that we all feared but looked up to. This song helped me get out before I got in. I will never forget this.
this is insane to think man. happy your life turned out different since that street life ends the same way most the time.
This hits close to home bro. Underground/backpack music saved me at the time as well. It was the only thing you could say was “woke” at the time and went against the mainstream flow of things.
i first heard this track in 2004 summer between 8th grade and high school. changed the course of my life. Technique the realest.
Same
So your around 31 32?
I feel like no matter when you were born, you always hear dance with the devil between the age of 13 - 14 😂
Bro same summer going into high school for me as well.
Literally same. Except I was between grade 8 and 9 in 2014😂
Brooo I had chills go through my body when he said “they killed his son just to get to him at the funeral”. I had a family friend Tito who went through this same exact thing. He was an ex MS member who had left on bad terms. To be specific he was given a hit contract that he fulfilled but when he saw a little girl at the house he couldn’t shoot her so he packed up and left. 5-10years later (I was a kid so I forget how long he was on the run) he’s relocated and dating a friend of my mothers and his grown kids even immigrated here also. His son is still loosely affiliated and he goes on a job and is killed. Tito hears about this and instantly knows they are coming for him. One day after his sons death he’s shopping and sees an old acquaintance who stops to say “hello” he’s trying on boots and tells Tito that he’s looking for new black boots. That he wants them to be nice bc he will be attending another funeral soon. Then he asks Tito if he understands. Basically telling Tito I’ll be wearing new black boots to your funeral. Tito says he understands and he quickly leaves the store with my moms friend. A few weeks later he shot himself in the head in a park here in town bc he was tired of running and knew if he was alive they would keep coming after him, his kids, and his loved ones. Shit was rough. I had completely forgotten until I listened to this. I hope he’s at peace now.
Great story. But if Tito died how did you know this story in so much detail? Surely he wasn't alive to tell this story?
@@kenny_floUh…maybe he told his wife. Not that far fetched…
🧢
@@kenny_flo just like how ppl know any stories. I was there to witness it first hand and the little I didn’t witness I’ve heard from his gf our family friend. I’m 30 now and this all happened when I was 13 so it’s been quite awhile. Tito wasn’t like a nice guy I mean he was obviously a paid killer but he couldn’t kill an innocent and later in life tried to redeem himself. He sacrificed himself for his family and loved ones. But is that noble or just what a man is supposed to do? Or both? His death left me with many more questions than answers.
@@simonsuarez2135 man sorry for your loss, but i think thats truly noble and courageous, there's only a handful of people i feel like that could work up the courage to kill themselves to protect loved ones
Remembering showing my boy this song in high school. Not a huge rap fan, but i’ll never forget watching him listen to it for the first time. He was completely entranced by every word. Powerful music.

First time I heard this song I was super stoned in a dark, smoke filled room in college. I’ll never ever forget it because the end made my jaw literally drop and I got goosebumps. Very very impactful music

Man underground hip hop pre 2011 was wild
@@zachslump5844 it was the WILD WILD west
I remember when this song came out, I was blown away by his story telling. He is absolutely a hip hop legend
Most definitely
I started listening to immortal technique when I was 15 years old and now I am 30 years old and still to this day listen to technique at least twice a week. He has songs that are timeless and classic. He has songs that resonate with me as a poor white boy who grew up in a Hispanic community. His message has been extremely helpful while navigating life & seeing the world for what it is, beyond the white and the black! I hope to every higher power known & unknown to man that he releases new music soon. We absolutely NEED a Revolutionary Vol. 3 album ✌️
Other songs I recommend is listening to his personal releases such as revolutionary volume one, revolutionary volume two & 3rd world. After listening to those albums I highly suggest looking at his features, immortal technique jumps on songs with some of the best rappers ever! ✌️
This man’s lyricism is highly underrated
No fucking kidding bro
I like the way he calls it a “tale” cuz that exactly what it was and felt like growing up. This wasnt a song played on the radio and at parties (obviously)…it was a random underground song that some random dude tells you about and you found it on napster or limewire or somethibg and listened to it like a tale from the darkside and the talk about the song just scattered throughout the streets
He’s so humble and laid back met him once in El Paso TX where he did a show and he signed shirts took pictures and acted 💯
I remember hearing this song when I was 17 and absolutely blown away by what he said
this song is like a movie that i can only watch once a year
One of the few songs to ever give me straight chills down my spinal chord. Such a great artist
Got a whole new level of respect for this man. This song is one of the most unsettling tales I've ever heard, but insanely captivating at the same time.
This man is a LEGEND top tier hip hop artist. I still haven’t heard music that makes me feel like his music. His music was truthfully revolutionary

The storytelling. I still get chills everytime I hear this song. Damn. I've never heard anything that hits this hard.
OMG that song is SO POWERFUL. It leaves you with the darkest feeling. I can only go back and listen to it every couple years because it’s just so moving. Written so vividly. A dark artistic masterpiece. It’s like a full length film condensed into 6:53. I’ve never had another song touch me the way that one has.
Man I heard this song for the first time when I like 8 or 9. It was like watching The Exorcist in a dark room alone at 3am. Traumatizing... It made me have a lot of respect for Immortal Technique as an artist and being that I'll be 25 next month, I'm upset I haven't explored more of this man's music. Reality raps at its core. Respect.
I won’t lie, I only know Immortal through this song and this is my first time listening to his interviews but what I’m struck by is how intelligent and well spoken this man comes across. That and given the particular way he writes his rhymes, I would much rather consider him a poet, he’s a beautiful story teller, even if those stories are dark in nature. Very under appreciated artist
I'm 33 years old now. And I was listening to that song when I was 15 with my home boy Jose. Almost 20 years ago, we heard that story, and I just ran into this video.
I love the fact that podcasts / interviews have become a new trend because some artists I forgot about have come out to tell their stories
One of the only songs that will fuck you up 20+ years later after listening to it hundreds of times
Technique’s music gives me chills. Shoutout to him, still independent, still grinding.
his songs changed my life when i first heard him at 17, early 2000s, even his song "obnoxious" had a positive effect in me, basically to not care about others opinions, and to turn that feeling on, at will. Him and krs-one, its sad, thats all i can think of at the moment, who really had a positive effect on me. Positive life-giving ideology is truly the underdog in this world
Yes president sleepy joe had a conference with cardi b lol
running through little havana yelling viva fidel
Wu Tang had a positive effect on me 1000%
Dancing with the devil deserves a Grammy. This man saved a lot of lost ignorant souls and for that he deserves his flowers for educating and opening our minds to the chess board. One love OG
Bro I remember the first time I heard that song. I had to reevaluate my life. That song is so impactful. Before that I never thought music could make you feel that type of way. Immortal Tech a legend in the streets.
He's gotta be one of the only people ever who can tell a story about telling a story and make it captivating.
Bro this dude really helped me mold into who I am. His music was gold
A timeless song with a deep message. It really goes into the reality whether we like it or not but for improvement as well.
Murdering someone’s son to get them to a funeral just to kill them is crazy!!!
I don’t get how kev doesn’t get more views for his videos he gets the most legendary guest

He a real one. Best story ever told in hip hop form hands down in my book.
I listen to music just as much as the next guy. I can honestly say that song will forever be burned into my memory. A true work of art and a very powerful message
I will never forget the first time I listened to the song and my whole body got goosebumps when I hear “and his was staring into the eyes of his own mother”
He’s an inspiration man. He’s one of the reasons I started picking up books and educating myself.
Beating my addiction made me want better myself and educating myself. I admire someone who's willing to better themselves no matter who they are.
He should get a Grammy for that that's what you call a hit

Update: I’m sorry I don’t have access to my documents anymore I graduated university last year. I appreciate you all wanting to read it 🫶🏽 For context though, I wrote about how Hip Hop culture serves as a historical memory of socio-political phenomena and how it could in turn be used as a catalyst for change. I used Immortal Technique’s ‘Dance with the Devil’ to support my argument. Hope this gives some insight on my essay :)

Immortal Tech, thank you for opening my eyes as a young teen. My man was spitting facts about this dystopian world we live in
I heard the first few notes of the piano on a short video my nephew was watching and started tapping my fingers beat-for-beat, told him the name of the song, the artist, where I was EACH time I listened to it, and tried to convey strongly to him just how haunting it is. The story told in Dance with the Devil is not that wild when you tour around the world and get exposed to realities that are nothing but soul breaking. That shit is happening right now, I assure you, in a lot of places. Long ago a 16-17 yo from my school stabbed his father 24 times in the back, killing him in the process, while he was r*ping him as a vengeance of abusing him and his mother for years and years. Then he walked into the closest police station and confessed what he had done. The woman took her own life a couple of weeks later. The boy followed her days after.
Shit still wakes me up sometimes, and it happened like 15 years ago.
