Here's a recap from the videos of what to do for fertilizers:
    1. Start with a trellis using FoxFarms Ocean for the soil.
    2. After a month, add 1~2" of chicken manure or worm castings to the top to add more nutrients. Add another 1~2" of chicken manure or worm castings every 3 months, alternating which product is used.
    3. During spring (March/April), use Flora Grow + Recharge once every 7~10 days. Water once in between to remove excess fertilizer.
    4. During Summer (May/June) stop using Flora Grow. Use Flora Bloom + Recharge once every 7~10 days. Water once in between to remove excess fertilizer.
    5. Once flowers buds start to appear, stop using flora bloom + recharge. Add 1~2" inch of chicken manure or worm castings on the top. Episode 6 was a little confusing because the video showed giving flora bloom to a plant with a flowering dragon fruit, but episode 2 specifically said to stop using flora bloom when flower buds appear.
    6. Repeat this process again the following spring (March/April), but make sure to add chicken manure/worm castings every 3 months while waiting for spring. I guess eventually you will have too much chicken manure/worm castings at the top, at which point you dig it out and re-start the process of adding fresh chicken manure/worm castings to add more nutrients.
I'm ready to become a dragon fruit enthusiast! Thanks for all the information :)

Good timing for this. Trying to get my first little crop of dragon fruit this year. Just tipped them according to this video, and hoping they fatten up in time to flower and fruit now. I'm in Taiwan, so they have the perfect climate.

Hi Richard, I invested in 2 cuttings of I think 5 different varieties late last fall.
    Vietnam White
    Vietnam Red
    Red Laverne
    Delight
    American Beauty
    Haley’s Commet
They haven’t done much yet, but did grow some before the cold set in. I just bought the fertilizer you recommended and hopefully they will begin growing this year!

G’day Richard, congrats on the addition to your family. I from the land down under and new to dragon fruit and have been looking at many vids from different people to gain some knowledge from different points of view. The basics from all appear the same throughout but I do like how you explain what and how you do what you do. I assume when you refer to a mature plant, it is 1 that has born fruit? To take an off cut from an immature plant means it will take longer to fruit? I am in the tropics and has just gone into spring so to start planting off cuts now means they would be good for fruit next season? Wish we had the variety of species you have over there but that’s life. Not sure what expected growth rate for the cactus is but I have been getting up to 4.5 inches growth each week, is this normal expectation?

That is so crazy that in less than a year you could have producing plants. Mine are probably going to have to wait till next year to produce, since I planted them in the winter this year. I'm about to get another cutting too, called the Hana variety, and I may have to wait till the year after next for it to produce fruit.

Hey I'm not starting to grow them although I've never tasted it, but wanted to give a tip to plant any plant according to the moon because it would grow faster, just as the moon cause tides and so on it also helps plant growth

You can use germinated alfalfa seeds for a organic booster .
You can use germinated corn for sweeter taste and enzymes etc
Put it in a blender before mixing with water .

    Revisiting this video to ask:
I saw your recent Instagram post about your crosses of Ohana Express (autocorrect nearly turned it to Obama, imagine that!) and A6-A2, and something with Sugar Dragon. Will you do a video explaining what you do to cross dragonfruit? I saw you even cut the flower’s pollen-source, and was very curious about that as well.

Thanks for all you do. Have a quick question… I grew some local O’ahu DF and it has been flowering a ton, but can’t get it to pollinate. I used white pollen, orange, and it’s own with no luck. Is it possible it won’t fruit? Should I give it time? I’m very curious to see what fruit comes from it. Mahalo!

Hello sir, thanks for all your very informative videos on how to grow dragon fruit. I live in Cali as well and my uncle just got me interested in growing one. What's your opinion on Feather Meal 12-0-0 organic fertilizer to help with growth? Would like to stick with fully organic so had to find an alternative fertilizer instead of using your flora grow mixture.

I'm starting planting dragon fruit, a friend gave me few cuts from his uncle's backyard but he doesn't know what varieties they are, some have 3 sides and 2 of them have 4 sides, I watch few videos and haven't seen any with 4 sides. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Richard - I watched your video on rust - followed as much as I could but some of the mix you promote is not available in Sydney, Australia - I have been spraying constantly with a mixture of Eco-Neen Bio Oil & Eco Fungicide but the rust is actually spreading
Helps - what can I do?

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi there, what I would recommend is using hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. Do a 50/50 mix with it and see if it stops the spreading. If it continues to then add more hydrogen peroxide to the ratio like 60/40 and go up to 80/20 if needed until you see the rust stop.
