    Recently,Sir Tobi shared images of the Kuttenberg and Rattay maps on X(Twitter); So I did a rough comparative analysis of their sizes by overlaying the latter's castle perimeter on the upper right corner of former's,using the scale of its houses as a loose guide. It seems his statement from one interview is fairly accurate,Rattay is indeed roughly one street of Kuttenberg.

    6:39 Macht (=Power); by the description text it's "manipulation/influence through positive call and good looking"
    Nötigen/Nötigung (=coercion); by the description text it's "manipulation/influence through fear including/by bad call"
    Dominieren (=Domination); by the desription text it seems a mix of "Macht" and "Nötigen", but with the result they keep out of your way and avoid conflicts with you.

    At 8:10 it seems to me that the enemy actually does combo. He holds the longsword in only one hand witch we never see again in normal stabb. Amazing video by the way 👍

    4:44 kcd1 also had this though, there was the blue tressprassing sign and the red one. Just being is a strangers house was blue i believe, being in their bedroom or storing for example red though if i remember right. This one clarifies that it‘s „red“, so there is probably also a blue one, the same as kcd1

    Cool, analysis. Thanks for the video :)
    Concerning the part about convincing NPCs:
    “Macht” means “power”. It writes that powerful knights are known to help the poor and punish lawbreakers. And if you wear a shiny armour and care for your reputation, people might be more willing to listen to you.
    “Nötigung” is not manipulation in the cunning sense. It's rather urging someone to do something. Pressing on with whatever arguments until he gives way. But it can, as it says there, involve lying or dragging others through the mire.

    Really seems like Red Dead played a role in some of the inspiration for these changes - considering development started less than a year after RDR2 we can see the stuff with how you treat your horse, light/dark alignment scaling, the greet/antagonize thing, etc

    I expected they will meddle with lockpick, and they will temper with stealing from vendor chest 1000%. You can forget Peshek's trade chest armor conversion into Groshen. Earning money will be grind. But its based on what will you need to spend it on. If its only for armor maintance it wont be so harsh.

    Lockpicking in KCD 1 was actually pretty easy once you understood how it worked. Before that it was impossible. What was silly, was that you only had basically one legal place to practice it, and even then only for a few tries, at Peshek's mill. I think in the modern real life world people buy locks and practice on those. Why couldn't you do that in 1403?

    • @mappy-5934

      Exactly, i always get a lockpick first try, but pickpocket feels way to stressfull, maybe like skyrim but the game isnt paused

    • @DJWeapon8
      @DJWeapon8 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know.
      I personally thought KCD's lockpicking system is the easiest because it told you a lot and left little to RNG.
      You know that to pick someone's pockets unseen you need to be crouched, behind and near them, and hold X while aiming at them and never look away while doing so.
      You know how much time you have left before they notice you rifling through their things because it has a visible timer.
      And you know how fast you can go through their inventory slot because moving the cursor once provides enough feedback to give you an idea of the speed.
      Even with low Pickpocket level, with patience and always minding your positioning and surroundings for anyone who'd notice, you can take a person's whole inventory.
      Compared to say Fallout or Skyrim where stealing an item isn't a guaranteed success even with Sneak 100 or Pickpocket 100.

    • @ThatOtherGamer
      @ThatOtherGamer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My experience with Pickpocketing is that it gets a lot easier at L5,but my reservation about it is that failures are randomized and instantaneous. We're not even given a split second to try prevent being detected.

    • @chino436
      @chino436 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lockpicking was too easy on pc but on console it was hard unless we made it easier and even then it was a pain

    • @ExpectedBoy
      @ExpectedBoy หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lockpicking absolutely isn't too easy. I'm on PS5 and it's a nightmare. Combine that with how expensive lock picks are and it's silly.
      First and foremost, games are meant to be fun, with reward.
      So lockpicking should be made easier. Pickpocketing is fine but sometimes you get detected when there's no way anyone has seen you.

  • @asdf-bm4df
    @asdf-bm4df 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hopefully that hideous automatic lock on mechanic from KCD1 at least ensures that Henry closes the distance to the enemy he's attacking so he doesn't hit air. But really, that automatic lock on shouldn't even exist. Not even a manual lock on should be needed; the player control over Henry should be all there is to it- SKILL. >PLAYER< SKILL at maneuvring Henry when facing one aswell as several opponents.

    • @DJWeapon8
      @DJWeapon8 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Auto lock-on definitely shouldn't exist. Especially the astronomically stupid and illogically arbitrary *movement speed restriction* it puts on Henry whenever he's in combat.
      As for manual lock on. I don't know...
      On one hand, the best first person sword combat games I've played are the Dishonored series. No lock on mechanics for melee or movement speed restriction in those games and as a result, fighting squads of 4 or more enemies armed with pistols and grenades or capable of using magic powers without using anything other that slashes, blocks, parries, and movement is challenging *_but feasible._*
      On the other hand. The concept of "Attack from a set sequence of angles to pull off a special attack combination" is pretty neat.
      So my ideal system for a first person melee combat game like KCD is:
      • Even without locking onto a target. You can attack with your weapon, kick enemies to create some space, dodge at any time, block and parry attacks in view of your screen, and your movement speed is as fast as your current stats and equipment allow.
      • While locked on. You can now perform more advanced attacks with your weapons by manipulating the angle of which your attack comes from, and you are able to perform a unique parry-counter by matching your enemy's stance and simultaneously blocking and attacking when he is at the midpoint of his attack animation.

    • @asdf-bm4df
      @asdf-bm4df 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DJWeapon8 you're tossing pearls into space probably, but I couldn't have said it better myself. But I think combos can be replaced with a deeper feint system where Henry creates openings to exploit- in enemy defences aswell as armor. Abit like that adorable combo description text describes it- but isn't carried out. KCD1 combos had basically no function. At all.
      Dishonored series is epic. As for combat mechanics however I'm sure Dark Messiah would be up your alley. As it is mine, my favourite game- while Dishonored features unmatched acrobatics and movement fluency of course. Enemies in Dishonored don't respond well to bottleneck tactics though as they can leap right through eachother to get to Corvo. Dark Messiah is abit better in that sense;
      th-cam.com/video/8F0y6HNHapg/w-d-xo.html
      Alkahest could be an epic game by the way, as it aspires to combine the qualities of Dishonored Dark Messiah and KCD.

    The lockpicking in kcd on console is a heavy design oversight and one of the console versions biggest problems and their simplified lockpicking patch did nothing to actually help, people actively walked away from the game because of how bad it actually is so it definitely won't go over well if the lockpicking isn't properly optimized for console again
