Most commentators here assume that Tsmc comes there so happily to build plant in the US, and makes money. They conveniently forgetting the fact that tsmc was arm twisted to set up their plant in the US. Despite the billions of dollars enticement from the US government, tsmc may not be able to recoup back their investment here.
Im kinda wondering who's doing the complaining. I worked out there for 1.5 years, it goes like this On the construction side its at least 85% undocumented migrants from south of the border the rest are white and black from the US thats a fact.. As for TSMC itself they are predominantly Taiwanese in the operating Fabs and inner offices of that less than 10% are American... People can lie all they want to and deny what im saying, but i was there!!!!!
Having TSMC in Arizona is good for the U.S. and lower prices to avoid tariffs. It creates jobs locally. It’s good to have it here because China can invade Taiwan. Trump wants peace and not wars he said. He wants to negotiate peace for all the wars. He won’t fund Ukraine anymore. Thus this could give China the green light to invade Taiwan and take over TSMC without military repercussions.
TSMC's Arizona plant has just been established, many tasks and confidential information need to be handled by Taiwanese experts. How much authority do employees of a newly established company expected to have? How could this be considered discrimination? The demands of the U.S. employees are excessive and will anger TSMC's management. I think the Texas plant construction plan might end up stillborn. Instead of going to the U.S. and inviting humiliation, it would be better to keep advanced manufacturing process in Taiwan and relocate mature processes to countries like Japan, Germany, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, or Vietnam, which would be more cost-effective and easy to manage. The subsidies from these countries won’t be inconsistent or treat TSMC like a fool.
TSMC is SMART not to let DEI policies interfere with them hiring the "Best Candidates" for those jobs!! Just ask BOEING how their DEI programs have worked out...?!

I work at Intel Chandler and I know a few people that took the package and went to TSMC and complains about the culture is way different than Intel. Intel maybe struggling and trying to get back on there feet but least Intel has a Safety first mentality.

It is very difficult to let community college grads work for them. 😂 It is more like construction workers with engineering skill kind of work. Very demanding job. I doubt how many americans can do the job they require. They do not need 10 vice presidents for one factory worker. 😅
