    You should mention using the thread sealant and the O-ring sealant that BRP recommend. Bolts need Loctite 242 threadlocker Blue or Permatex Medium Strength Threadlocker Blue #24200 and a thin coat of sealant on the O-ring is Loctite 518 Anaerobic Gasket Maker or Permatex Anaerobic Sealant #51813. Thanks for the excellent video explanation of the process. I found water in my '99 GTX Ltd. pump oil because the O-ring was broken and the BOZOS at the marina tried to cheap out by putting some silicone sealer at the break rather than replacing it. Of course, it then leaked water! But it appears that there is no rust, so I'm drying it out and will replace the oil with fingers crossed!.

      Sometimes Loctite works to good. I am sorry to hear about your o-ring, I like to repair my toys myself because of what you are going through. That is one place you don't want water to get in. Hope it keeps working like it should. good luck.

    I usually wait 5-10 mins after filling the cone because I find it always takes more. I think it's 2.2oz. I'll put some in, tip the sled up and down a few times and let it settle, unscrew the filler and top it off.. Just my two cents and great video btw. I also changed my cone to the new style that has the spring which stops that annoying rattling many of us hear.. Thanks for sharing

    The BRP pump oil is expensive, but probably worth using if you want to keep it working right. Their 2 stroke oil is spendy too but it's been proven to be superior to almost all other oils.

    I have a1998 seadoo gtx limited and at the back of ski where u hook tow rope there are two holes is water supposed to come out that, and if doesn't what does that mean

      You need to back it in a lake and start it, (don't take it off the trailer) let it run for a minute to see if water is being pumped through the system and out the hole. If not, check your water lines for leaks and your wear ring for damage.

    Could you please post the type of oil you used? And do you have a video on how to replace te engine oil?

    • @LonnieJohnson1

      This is a 2 stroke engine and I use MERCURY 2 stroke oil. You don't have oil in the engine to change. This unit has an oil pump that has auto oil mix to the fuel.

      @@LonnieJohnson1 thank you for your reply. I’ve asked because I watched the video to replace the oil pump (rear) but as you mentioned there’s a reservoir in the front next to the gas tank. I barely use my jet skis maybe one orb two days a year but I checked and trued rob pump out the oil from the front container and nothing came out so I put synthetic marine oil in there like 5 quarts is that right?

      In video at 3:38 is what I used for the jet pump. What type of oil did you put in your tank?

    Nice video Lonnie. Do you have any video of the other maintenance required to be done each year or so on this Seadoo?

      I winterize every year by using stabilizer and fogging the cylinders. If it's outside all winter run antifreeze through motor and change impeller pump oil in case it got water in it, also take battery out and put in on a slow charge.

      And thanks, I'll try to make a video at the end of this season on maintenance.

    Is a full synthetic 75w90 okay to use? Also should the orang be replaced every time?

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oldlemons1986 I use 75w90 full synthetic and it should be better for your bearings. I use the same o-ring unless I see damage; then and only then will I replace it. Also, you shouldn't have to use a sealer because the o-ring is suppose to keep the oil in and the water out.

    How often do you check the pump oil

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I change the oil once a year whether it needs it or not. I also check it if I see a leak under it.
