Brilliant work with the ski and the video! I have some confidence to tackle this at some point on my ski. Cant wait to see Christine and you making the big trip to Bimini!
Good Job ! A lot of guys put half grease, and half marine gear oil like they used to use . Never tried it, but they say it gets into the bearing better, not just sitting in the cone, which makes sense. Maybe when you have a seal failure, the grease stays better than gear oil would? I did a seal job on mine, used Amazon seal kit. Month later I pulled the cone off to take a look, and it was full of water. I went , and picked up expensive Seadoo seals, and it never leaked again. I won't use cheap parts in my pump anymore to save a buck ,OEM only.
Thanks for the tips. I've not heard that about using half gear oil. I'm honestly not sure how that would affect things. It is a little disconcerning how much void space there is inside there though. I can understand the desire to fill it up with something. I agree with your point about using the OEM parts. I have not heard of anything good coming from the Amazon specials. 😃
Great work good idea replace anodes,Myself when reinstalling bolts I am going to use Permatex non hardening sealer on the threads this way salt will never penetrate the threads, been using it for decades on Outboards jet skis.
Love your logo who did it for you? I have yet to do this to my GTI either but it’s on the to do list. Thats a good idea to just swap the anodes for now. You should order 2 extra sets that way next time you already have them on hand. Have a great summer & thanks for sharing! PS hope your Bimini trip goes great :)
Thanks you. The logo came from Fiverr. A creator called ALSHEN. As far as the anodes go. Whenever I order from partzilla, shipping is so expensive I always throw in a few extra odds and ends, screws and bolts, extra anodes in this case. That way I have them laying around if I ever need them and don't have to wait for shipping. Turns out swapping the anode did not Make it any easier. I thought maybe I could get the one off easier because it was so close to the end. But they make that bolt about a millimeter too long that I still had to remove the entire steering nozzle again. Lol Looking forward to Bimini. Just a couple more weeks and we'll be there. Hoping the weather holds out. 😃👍
I suppose so. Personally I just like to stick with whatever it had stock just to make sure there's no issues. Here's a link to where I bought mine off of Amazon amzn.to/4eHGEKE

Can I just use marine grease in the jet pump as well? The xps stuff isnt available locally in my area.
I suppose so. Personally I just like to stick with whatever it had stock just to make sure there's no issues.

Regarding the anodes, do you rinse the pump area after each ride?
I do. It is possible that the one in the back doesn't get rinsed quite as thoroughly. Good point.
PS Take a wire brush to your zincs from time to time,They don’t work as well covered with corrosion
Good idea! I did end up swapping them both out a week later.
Greeze
