One personal optimization I've found- I try as much as possible to put cast time GCDs on my d-pad and oGCDs on my buttons- this makes it a lot easier to do certain inputs while moving without having to do the MonHun claw (this is esp relevant for the Addersgall abilities). Also I tend to find it easier to put LB on my hotbar 3, it's so situational for healer and I prefer to keep sprint on my main bars. Prevents an embarrassing misinput as well.
Haven't finished the video, but I already deeply thank you because I didn't know you can actually have 2 cross bar at the same time, without having to switch
Honestly this helps so much on so many jobs: got Sage earlier today, WHM for keeping tools like Swiftcast-Raise, Lucid, Rescue, etc. available without having to memorize layouts, even Paladin loves it since the key rotation requires 12 buttons(4 for melee, the Requiescat rotation is also 4, 2 for AoE, FoF, Holy Sheltron. And arguably Circle of Scorn makes it 13). And then there's tons of utility stuff like PoA, Clemency, Provoke, Guardian, Hallowed Ground, Divine Veil, Shirk, Arm's Length, Intervene, LB... Basically requires a second bar and at minimum making it visible is incredibly useful
Picture me trying to hear the made up words for the spell names while trying to match the picture emblem for each ability because the ability names on your hotbars aren't turned on for some reason. Did he say Karachiholymoly? Hmm let me find the blue box icon with a little light thing in the corner. It would help so much to always turn on the ability names in the hotbars! Thanks for though.
That cross hotbar is all over the place and won't be natural for many people, you do not need your swiftcast/res at the main front, in reality if you're doing your job correct you wont need res that often
Mine stay on far left side directional pad. It definitely needs to be on the main hot bar, you can't control what dps or the other healer will do. Accidents happen
Bro, you are pumping these out. It's awesome. I've been sharing this with my new crew, who are all on console/controller. I have a question for you though. How do you quickly get from point a to point b while navigating quests on console? My friends are still having trouble with that and since I'm on pc I can kinda cheat.
@@latelotus Oh I see what you mean, its as simple as going to actions and traits and then general, which the teleport button will be there which you can assign to a hotbar and quickly press. If you show them my controller guide setup video, then there will a cross hotbar three they can setup for all the ulitities stuff that they can access by pressing r2(hold) l2 to access it. That will will show them how to set everything up
So a quick question because I don't see you show it but how do you target allies? So far from my experience targeting allies is incredibly tedious with you having to use the dpad to slowing scroll down to the person then having to manually select them after. Is there a way to speed that up?
You do have to use the dpad but you can re arrange party list for tanks to be at the top. You also don’t have to select them after scrolling. There is a soft target and a hard target. If you scroll with dpad and then cast a healing spell it will still work. It’s kinda hard to explain I guess it would be a good video
@@BunBossFFXIV definitely. I hear a lot of soft vs hard targeting and advantages to both. Would be a great video idea for explanations on how to use both and in what situations. Also never knew you could rearrange the party list so that's really cool
I usually use ninjitsu on l2 and weapons skills r2, ninki Gauge attacks on double r2 , and everything else on double l2, teleport and sprint work well also when you set a 3rd hot bar for l2 and r2 at the same time
Any tips on targeting partymembers fast on a controller? I do it with the arrows on the left side of the controller, but it feels so slow for high end content...
I just dpad up and down arrow to target party members. Some people do use macros and stuff or figure out some way to do it on controller that’s out of the box but I like to stay consistent
Thanks for answering! I have my tanks up too anyways - was rather about dps getting accidentally hit by something. But I'll try to work around. Tbh I was too scared to heal high end content because of that - but I really want to give it a try to be more versatile on roles
I’m new to ffxiv as I’m getting back into games, I do hope to be able to adjust to your hotkeys especially with a stiff left hand so pressing can be slow and tough sometimes but I love healer classes so I do hope I fare with your controller hotkeys 😂
How do you get the trigger 2 dpad options? I was only able to switch to the trigger 2 buttons and not dpad as well. Idk what i missed in the options menu
Hi! You can find it under the playlist and controller guide video, but if I remember off hand, it’s under character configuration-hot bar- scroll over to “cross” and when you enable the r2 double tap option or r2-l2 option it will have two check boxes under for just letters or letters and dpad

Getting back into this game after like.. years. This is SO helpful. Thank you so much king~~
Thanks for all your videos!!!! Used them to set up my Crossbar so I can have a easier understanding when I try different jobs.
Yay! Glad they help!
Thank you for this I couldn’t figure out a good controller setup for this. This helps out so much. Thank you again
Thanks I'm about to play sage and it will be my 1st healer on controller in general, I don't feel as anxious now

Oh my goodness thank you so much! It’s so tough to find controller focused setups!
When you do a vid like this can you leave the names on to make it easier to copy the setup please
Great guide, thank you!
Ty for this. Personally my muscle memory has the attack as circle so I always swap esuna with an attack spell.

Thank you so much!! I appreciate that!, I am not sure I understand the question? What do you mean point a to be point b? Like walking? Or
@@BunBossFFXIV teleporting to the general location seems to be the problem. For me I just do a few clicks with the mouse and I'm there.

when doing more guides put on hotbar assist so can see the abilitys name cause you saying stuff cant see exactly what ones are what

I haven't tried ff14 yet. How do you target friendly players to heal them? Is this not needed?
I really wish the actions were labeled so i knew what i was looking for. The ocons are so small on my phone and i am hard of hearing. T_T
You can literally hold the phone infront of your screen to figure out what you’re looking at.

You’ll find it under my controller guide playlist in the description box : D
Would be great to see the names cuz some of yours look much different but have the same name
damn sage has a weird skill names
You play on ps5 or pc?
I play on pc with a controller 😍
@@BunBossFFXIV is it possible to play ff14 on my ps5 with keyboard and mouse?
@@calitime8695 Yes
Breh u could’ve held the buttons so it would display the names at least.
sorry by dude
Like button demolished. Should've went with LB1.
BLM next please
Controller is goat, especially if you know how to change macros. I use the "hold L1>R1 or reversed, rather than double tap. Definitely faster
I think AST was the easiest especially since the cards got nerfed, SCH is by far the toughest to use on controiler
Ninja on controller pls
Please do reaper
Oh yea! Dps are coming up!
@@BunBossFFXIV Thank you!!!!
