Mate 10 years ago your assumption was correct , im 52 from london 33 years service in the large telephone company , i handed in my notice 5 months ago . Yesterday i landed in bkk after jumping through hoops that to be fair wasn't that difficult . Now i am retired and after quarantine will be living my dream with my Thai partner of 10 years . Everything you talk about is 100% correct , all government money goes to illegal immigrants and none for indigenous British families and it's getting worse , even worse than you can imagine after being out of the country for so long . Your vidios have helped me personally and i appreciate you putting the time in to make them . Take care and be happy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I agree, most large English cities are on a downward spiral in regard to quality of life.
Crime, violence and drugs are rampant. The social security system is unsustainable due to the rise in long term benefit claimants choosing this as a life style. Hard working people are punished financially for this.

I worked with the welfare system during my last 10 years in the Fire Service that opened my eyes, if only everyone knew what the bad lads get it would shock you. Good people get nothing Bad people get everything. I agree every one deserves a second chance but one individual committed 28 crimes before he was sent to prison for 3 months. With a cost to society of 40,000 pounds per month whilst he was inside.

@@RetiredandLivingthedream The problem is, that all good people are leaving the western countries because of the evil system and it will only get worse after all the good people left. Also, you did not mention immigration of criminals in the UK. Wouldn´t you see that as a mayor cause for the deteoration of western societies?

I have a similer story Les and this one of the main reason for moving my family to Thailand. The last 3 years the council rented a house along side my home and put travellers in there. I worked in a hospital and watched people dying from Covid etc while every night parties drugs the police said nothing they could do. We took the landlord to court but they found the tenant guilty of anti social behaviour but allowed them stay while all these NGOs were giving them money fuel and clothes. My son often asked me why dont they work and where do they get money I decided time to get out lol. I agree the west is now totally broken and will never recover I fear.

I lived in a caravan for 6 months following my split up with a girlfriend I loved it I could of lived in a caravan for the rest of my life.
But I also feel for you living so close to travellers, they ( not all ) are so violent and non law abiding Every night burning cables off to get the copper they knew nothing it was not theirs, I arranged a council truck to gather up the cable in the morning, Wow did he go off it, threatened to kill me and my family, but at 3am in the morning when we were called to extinguish it he did not know who it belonged to.
There are good and bad in every community we all hope to live a quiet life with nice people, I have done that the last 10 years here in Thailand.

Southeast / East Asia have the same values as Westerners that's why it is so easy to integrate there. Your mind is literally free and you don't have to worry about your safety at all there. There is no conflict, no racism, no aggression etc. It is just peaceful because of the docile nature of our cultures. In fact you will probably make more friends there as Asians are so much more social and friendlier than Westerners on average.

I think many expats share your feelings about the life in the Anglosphere. We have similar problems in Australia. I always felt safer when staying in both Thailand and Vietnam. Chatted to a number of expats in Saigon bars who share our concerns. There is a total lack of leadership in the UK, Australia, Canada and the States. Thais don't mess around with criminals. Both Thailand and Vietnam promote strong family units which helps prevent the disintegration of society. We could learn a lot from them.

Thanks for Vlog and moving to Thailand myself for same reasons you gave.
As a retired police officer I saw the effect crime had on victims who received hardly any long term support yet the offenders were continually released from court with a small fine which as they did not work the tax payer was paying for in the benefits.
The offender would then go and commit further crime the next or same day and keep getting arrested with prison always being the last option.
I have visited Thailand since 1991 and feel safer there and I have NEVER been victim of crime in Thailand.

Just found your channel today, and I have subscribed. I agree with you 100%, I live in a small town in West Wales, UK and I see the bad people get all the help, and the good people get no help. I have worked in Thailand three times at various locations as an International contractor, and also been on holiday there several times and I have a Lady from Sakon Nakhon, however because of the last 2 years I have not been able to visit her, but also as a Freelance contractor I have been unemployed over the last 2 years. But when I get myself back in work again which I hope will be sooner rather than later, then I hope to relocate to Thailand full time. I used to work in Sattahip, Chonburi, but I used to stay in the Grand Garden hotel in Ban Chang, Rayong. My age now 53.

Jst found your channel here & liked n subscribed and know where ur coming from in detailing living in the UK. It all stems from no discipline or respect in UK society any more and the amount of drugs available that fuels all the crime here. Thailand does have crime but it’s more mafia controlled.
I’m looking at retiring in the next few yrs too as been travelling to thai over 25ys and like and would live in the Jomtien area.
Enjoyed watching a few of your vloggs and will watch the rest soon. 🤞🏻🙏🏼

Thanks Gord, Jomtien is a great place lived there for 2 years easy access to the Night life in Pattaya and a nice place to live. Good luck with your plans hope all goes well for you in the future. I would agree the UK is on a downward spiral I have been gone 12 years now and the biggest reason I left was the crime, ( and grey skys most days ) It is such a breath of fresh air living here I'm sat at my computer desk looking at trees, birds chirping, blue sky about to sit outside having a coffee on the veranda.
Best wishes Les, and thanks for subscribing hope you get some value from the videos.

U.K. is mess. It’s a rules, regulations and police state. Police are politicised. Government does not represent what the people want and there’s no difference between the 2 main parties. Violent crime is rampant and we all know who is doing it. Even football is politicised. I’ll be on my way to Thailand 🇹🇭 - few more years 👍

You are a gentleman. You made a smart decision to move to Thailand a decade ago.
The climate alone is enough reason to move, let alone all the social problems of the UK.
How sad it is see, that in our lifetime, Britain has become dysfunctional. You are in a much better place now. The west is in terminal decline. Such a contrast to our carefree childhoods! At the moment, where we reside, we can’t even leave Australia as state and international borders are closed. In Australia the full vaccination rate is only 5%, and now they want to introduce covid vaccination ‘passports’.
    Enjoy life Les!
    Life is good in Thailand.
My wife and me will move from Australia as soon as we are able to.

Doing good towards others is reward enough but doing bad towards others need a tougher action.

I agree Les, the good people work hard and get screwed by the government through taxes, so all these people can make a life of living on the dole for life with subsidised housing, electricity, medication etc. when I started work at the prison 9 years ago, I told a prisoner we should get rid of the social welfare system, he retorted with it will drive the crime up and I said that it doesn’t seem to in South East Asia, if you don’t work you starve. In the west people just think it’s there right to be on welfare and get the rest to pay for them and go out and commit crime as well.

It seems that the madness is getting worse with every passing day and workers are penalised for being productive and the unproductive are spoon fed by the state. I have been with my Thai wife for 11 years now and we have plans to move to Thai. Upon being widowed at age of 30, then being divorced at age 50 I went to Thailand and loved the culture and eventually found my wife to be. A great plus is that her family and friends are terrific people, so excited about relocating to there. Thanks for your article Les.

I moved from a country that has everything to a poor country which lacks the Social care as with the UK No benefits system to fall back on. Without this the people living here are more content than those who live and abuse the system of the UK. You are correct I made the right move,

spot on les but let me run this past you you say there is not much crime in Thailand is this because police are more leanient or get paid off or they simply look the other way

    • @RetiredandLivingthedream
      @RetiredandLivingthedream  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There is crime in Thailand as with everywhere in the World but it simply does not happen here like most other Country's. Example ATM'S in England are barricaded to prevent thefts buy using heavy machinery Here some places you only need a crow bar. Scooter thefts in London wow epidemic mobile phone theft so easy. You just do not see that here. Many times we forget to lock the car. in the UK it would have gone. We have valuable garden ornaments in the garden these would be on the Car boot sale shortly after we bought them in the UK. Drugs is a big thing but the punishment is very severe. Crime is punished in a big way here so no the police are not soft. I seen one time a bunch of shoplifters were chained outside of a shopping mall to show these people to the public to shame them for what they did. Could you see this in the UK.

Sadly, the “bad people” are afforded experiences they would not otherwise have, and to some that experience may be a turning point. When parents are strugling just to satisfy basic necessities there’s no money for flying in planes or going to an amusement park. No need to look at it so negatively, it’sca consequence of the systems and societies in which we live.

    • @RetiredandLivingthedream
      @RetiredandLivingthedream  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I am not looking at it from a Negative view, I did this for 10 years plus and agree with you some of these people could change ( in fact I know it changed people.) I won awards for my work some 80% non reoffending in 2 years from being on my course. I just disagree that some of the kids that try really hard to get somewhere do not get such rewards for trying. I keep using one incident a man on my course did 28 crimes before being sent to jail, but he had many courses before being put into jail, what about the young man who tried and tried to better himself with no rewards for doing so. I agree that everyone can slip up once in a while but persistent petty crime still get rewarded.
What about the victims of crime this affects them for the Rest of their lives.

Not only in the UK but in the rest of Western-Europe....Crime Pays!BTW benefits in Belgium are at least twice as much as in the UK hence we have people living of benefits for the whole of their lives and then they get almost as much pension as somebody who has working for at least 45 years of their lives

It is so wrong and when you see people living here in Thailand proud to show they work and not reliant on anyone and Thailand is a much happier place to live than our own country's that have everything. Supporting people that do not want to work.

Interesting. Evil is good, and Good is Evil. None of this surprises me one bit. Being observational about what's been going on in thr UK over many decades, since the 1970's, you can clearly see patterns that have emerged from the one system that ultimately changes all life in a single country, the State. Every political party sings from the same song sheet, and Democracy just seems like a fancy word that has no validity to its cause, except giving the mindless, domesticated public selected choices of who you want to vote for. Greek thinkers must be laughing their heads off, because the public gets taken for a ride through the many generations, believing the left and right, far left and the far right or any party that consider itself independent. The people I meet can't even hold down a thoughtful conversation these days. The teenagers couldn't give a shit about immigration, because they've been internationalised by the schools or State Education. Even when I went to University, it was a about Multiculturalism, and learning to accept the greater good of the EEC. It seems national identity, even back then, was being very gradually erased. The family unit has been vertually destroyed to bits since the sexual revolution came into being in the Western World, and the more people just seem to either be willfully ignorant or totally ignorant to what's happening in the UK. This has been going on for decades, but the social change isn't from society, it comes from the powerbase. I'm 49 yrs of age. Seen a lot in this country, but since COVID appeared on the scene, certain things have excellrated. It seems there's a clear mandate to destroy this country, and build a new society from the ashes. We never left the EU, even though the public are told we did. I think Brexit was just a way to force the hand of the public, and teach them a lesson, that being outside the EU is not an option. Immigration has grown more since we supposedly came out of the EU, and now we have a recession, that adds further fuel on the flames of Brexit. The Establishment never had the intention of bettering this country, because they are all for the EU. I wouldn't even trust Farage either. I wish you all the luck in the world in Thailand. At least you have taken the dive, and I don't blame you. We've been done over in the UK going back decades, and British people are just accepting of it all. We have no spirit left, except living in a bubble and just being like livestock on a farm. Domesticated.

Stinks but good news for the homeless people, there were some people declared themselves homeless to get a free apartment as they were struggling with the rent.
