I just want you to know that I’ve been watching you every single day for a while now. Not even 5 minutes ago, I got my very first heart kill and it was on ascension 10 no less. Watching you not only helps me fall asleep, but it’s made me a much better Spire player. Thank you for the very informative way in which you play and for putting out TH-cam content. I wouldn’t have slayed the spire today without you! ❤️
Was supposed to lull me to sleep, but no heal start, no upgrade later, no rest run with 6_9 energy, max orbs, lots of powers, blizzard and hyper beam in the same deck, artifact biased cog. Awesome run, I'll find something else to fall asleep too 😂
At some point in Act 3, I suddenly realize this deck is no longer a Hyperbeam overdrive deck and now it's a massive focus + orbs galore deck. Such a transformation doesn't seem possible or advisable, and yet you make it look trivial. Bravo!

I wanted to say thanks for your videos! I liked this game but it frustrated me because I struggled so badly, it would be rare for me to even make it to the third floor. After watching just a few of your videos and listening to your insights and tips and general thought process, I've been able to make it to the third boss and beyond regularly with all four characters! I even got my first heart kill today (but my luck was obscenely cracked, Silent with a Black Star boss swap with an early Dead Branch drop, ended with 31 relics)
I feel like maybe a Claw keyword might work better, so you could put it on Scrape too. Clawing: Any time a card with Clawing is played, raise the damage of ALL cards with Clawing by 2 for the rest of combat. It's probably still not the strongest/consistent deck archetype, but it'd be damn fun.
they don't solve the draw problem, but they help mitigate the consequences if you draw poorly on turn one, anchor softens the blow if you draw poorly other than a hyperbeam on turn one, you may be able to pick off weaker enemies and reduce incoming damage
Well, heatsinks and storm, as balanced cards, both make powers have effects that are worth less than 1 energy (zap is underpowered as a starter card and 1 draw isn’t worth 1 energy at all) however, this card would make powers also give the effect of defragment, which is a card that’s well worth playing for 1 energy. Considering it only costs 1 more energy than storm and heatsinks, it’s value per energy greatly dwarves those cards. It’s pretty overpowered but not in a way that would harm the game as there are cases where it wouldn’t be valuable, it has potential to be drawn after your other powers if not upgraded, does not give instant value (tough you can still play other powers before ending turn or evoking an orb, making this less of a downsides than with demon form or machine learning, for exemple) does cost 2 energy and doesn’t get crazy amount of focus right away, It would still work within the game’s balance altough it would still be one of the most powerful cards in the game. It would DEFINITELY need to be a rare card, as to not make it optimal to force a power build which would narrow the amount of good options even if it itself wouldn’t be in a card reward, and It would still be balanced if it cost 3 energy instead (and maybe upgrading to costing 2)
Disclaimer: most *powerful* does NOT mean best overall Sincerely, Barrage is an absolutely ridiculous card. Every card has a niche, and can certainly not work, but for Barrage to not work you'd have to: 1. Not go for more orb slots and orb gen(quite rare unless you are literally forced to or blessed with a Reprogram deck) 2. You are SEVERELY lacking in defense(even though Defect much more often has TOO much defense) 3. You want to kill the enemy slower, for... whatever reason. At base, Barrage deals 12/18 upgraded for *ONE* energy, AND it can scale with Strength up to *T E N T I M E S*. Upgraded and with no strength with max orbs channelled, this freaking thing does *S I X T Y* damage for 1 energy. And a simple Vajra bumps it to 70, max Gyria lifting boosts it to a whopping *90* damage for, again, *1* energy. Even at base orb slots, you still do 12/18 for 1 energy, at the cost of admittedly being a possible dead draw when you have no orb gen, but usually that means your deck is failing catastrophically on a Defect run. Why the HECK would you not take this card later into the run? Ridiculous. Singlehandedly THE most powerful attack card in Slay the Spire bar infinites and maybe Streamline Spam. Ragnarok can go take a hike. 5 times Strength scaling? Pathetic. P/S: Thunder Strike is technically the true most powerful attack card in the game, but 3 energy cost and lots of Lightning Orb generation is required, plus maybe some energy solutions
Barrage's problem is that it needs to be "activated"; it's the definition of damage that is not frontloaded. For sake of comparison, Barrage needs you to play about 2 orb cards to do with Blade Dance does at no cost. This is a significant factor early on. Barrage is, for lack of a better term, a damage solve. Its comparable its AoE cousin in Blizzard. Decks which want to evoke lots of Orbs are also another reason why you might not see Barrages; generally that's Dark Orbs, but you might also end up on the receiving end of a bunch of Loops and no Capacitors. 12 damage for 1 energy might be completely unneeded in a deck if you need better draw, too.
@@citizenofvenus 12, sure, 18? and that's base. If it's spam evoke? Sure. But if you have lots of orb slots, you can fill them consistently and quickly, which always is something you want with Defect, AND you can't yet deal 60 dmg per attack, I have no idea how you'd not want that. Also, Blade Dance comes with annoyances like hand space issues and card count for Time Eater and Heart Beat of Death purposes. Plus, there isn't inherent Strength scaling for Silent. Defect has Reprogram, and even without, he can have Focus, Orbs, AND a max 60 dmg base 1 energy Attack that admittedly needs set up, but so does any winning strategy, even Ironclad Corruption Decks and Defect's own Evoke decks. Sure, you have to channel orbs, but you already SHOULD on Defect, and yeah, it is 'just' a max 60 damage solve that does 18 damage at base orb slots, upgraded. That is almost a Streamline upgraded, it's only 1 energy, and it scales with Orb slots in attack count AND scales way better than ANYTHING except Thunder Strike with Strength, up to a whopping 10 times, which is ludicrous. With a few Holos alongside your orbs, I dunno what's gonna survive. Not to mention your starting relic plus a Glacier and your Barrage is already maxed in the early game, and only gets better and better as you scale more. So unless you go any path that doesn't scale orb count and (for whatever reason) does not channel enough or any orbs quickly, I do not see how this attack is not ridiculous
@@swordzanderson5352 considering that capacitor is a slimed before the act 2 boss, you shouldn't find yourself with one in more than 50/60 percent of runs, also consume exists, also if you have 10 orbs channeled you are already winning most fights.
