btw, the EDIABAS part can be completely skipped after code FDL. Just press and hold the head unit power button until it reboot with splash screen then go to ConnectedDrive app menu and press Option key and then update apps.
After that Carplay, Screen Mirroring, Weather, News and etc will be available.

Does it also work for MGU ID7 units? I saw that carplay can also be activated by changing vin in esys and using tool32 with mgu file...
Could you help me, I have an f30 lci, limousine version 2018, with an 8.8 touch screen, but it doesn't have navigation or carplay, it's an HU NBT_EVO, is it possible to activate carplay, even a unit apparently without a gps antenna? I already installed the wlan antenna. tks a lot!

What do you mean by EDIABAS Part? What time of the Video is it?
that was actually a very useful video, much more so than the videos which only show the process of someone connecting remotely. Something is wrong with the full screen there, you've actually got the narrow version stretched across the full screen so the display resolution needs updating

@@zeeBMW well i'm stuck with the tool32, after opening enavevo.prg .... when clicking on steuern_routine -> argument wizard -> select PROVISIONING and and run the job. It gives me an runtime error 401 - can't show non-modal form when modal form is displayed. After that the tool32 is closed/crashed.
@@MatejRatkoI had this exact same issue with the dell laptop I was previously using, I then switched to this HP and had no issues. I did notice however it sent the command through before getting that runtime error and it should provision. If it doesn’t you may need to try a different computer

thank you for your work. Thanks to your help with providing software I think I will try coding some functions to my BMW. Basically what I understand presented job is more complicated as it's about adding some hardware. What I'm looking for is to enable (or disable) some functions. I have bought US car without rear fog light and I will try to enable it. Would be very kind of you if you could make a video with simple turtorial like ex. how to enable (disable) start-stop function as for being off as default. Thanks to this anyone would be able to use the same technique to enable-disable other stuff like lights, closing sunroof from key fob ect. From my understanding it will not require changing vin number anywhere. All in all, humble thanks for you.
Thank you for watching bro, I’ll see what I can do, I have seen the start stop function and know where to disable it in e-sys, I wouldn’t dare do it as my hybrid would become a permanent petrol 😂

Is this step different if you have a NBTEVo HU vs EntryNav2 HU? I have a f60 countryman. Do you know if this will work?
Thanks Zee for this Video. It's really helpful. One of the best out there. I was able to install e-sys correctly, and coded some things. However, facing issues with coding CarPlay. I have pro navigation with BNTev0_Y firmware, When I try to update VIN as you show in the video, it says invalid. The existing values are "," separated, I tried VIN in hex with both comma and space separated. Neither worked. I got the VIN for a g20 330e VIN from US region. Does the region and series has to be the same ?
Awesome video man, I’ve got a few questions, since I’ve got pro nav but not an evo one, would it just be the case of getting a pro nav evo box and then having to code that in and then getting car play, or is there a potentially a different oem unit I could get which would be cheaper but also get me oem CarPlay, and would getting oem car play full screen with the normal looking resolution, could I get that with a pro nav evo box ? Thanks for the great video, I've subbed, hoping to make bmw videos too myself and you’ve given me great confidence to try this in the future ! Thanks again

No worries bro, glad you watched it! Regarding the head unit, you can get the pro nav one but I believe you have to buy a connector conversion kit which allows the old style connector to ‘talk’ to the new head unit. From there you should be able to follow these steps. Honestly bro if I was in your shoes I’d get an aftermarket head unit, would save a lot of time and hassle unless you want it to be oem 👍
@@zeeBMW sorry if I’ve confused you, but I’ve already got a pro nav (larger screen) system with ID4, but if I was wanting to get an oem pro nav, would I just be able to get either an entrynav2 evo or nbt evo, Code either one in, and then follow this tutorial in order to enable car play ? And also, what’s the cheapest idrive unit out there which I could buy which I could get oem carplay on ?
@@ryanthomas1882 nah bro it’s all good, I was on about the head unit aka the box, you need to get the entrynav2 box along with the converter cables and it will work with your display etc. I’m pretty sure there is a yt video on some guy in America who’s done it.
Converter cables are needed not only for the box but for the apix 1 connector which your display will have. You’ve got a 62 plate 1 series right?
Also if you want proper oem pro nav would require wiring changes, not worth it imo but doing what I said will get you pretty close to it… just with a bunch of cables jumbled behind your box…
@@zeeBMWSorry, that was my old car 😅, currently got a 14 plate 4 series with an oem pro nav, but when checking the version, it didn’t say nbt. I had an android screen in the 1 series and that was nice, but oem pro nav screen in this looks so clean, was going to get an mmi box but heard someone say it’s no where near as nice as oem carplay. Do you have an Instagram account I can contact you on or so ? 😅

Can a NBTevo VIN be used for this type of activation? Or should we use only a entrynav2 vin?
I was able to enable carplay on a NBTevo_O using this method. I got a vin from a 2020 g30 3 series, I don't even know what system that vehicle has, but it worked for me
It can be any as long as CarPlay is provisioned on the car, thank you for the support!
@@Thesniperrkid Did you use g30 series VIN on same series or older ? i have trying G20 VIN on F36 car. It says invalid.
Hello bro, thank you for this method youre a legend! Quick question, how do we get android auto & screen mirroring?
I believe the only way to add those features are via feature installer, for android auto you may need an MMI box as BMW were against android implementation for a while 😅
Quick question, ive seen some people say that they can get lifetime carplay, does this method expire or is it permanent until you flash the idrive? Im presuming it will stay, as ive switched the vin back to the original, and carplay is still working
I believe this will still be wiped if you did an istep upgrade, changing the vin back after CarPlay is provisioned does not change its functionality, many people do it. However if you find a vin with active connected services and CarPlay there is no need. Fem body vin does not change and the bmw app reports the correct vin…

You can try this process, does your head unit have a WiFi symbol on the sticker or a Bluetooth one? If it has the Bluetooth one only it will fail to provision through tool32 and crash the head unit, however you can try it…
I've got another question, does this method alter the FSC codes automatically?
I’m not 100% sure but I don’t believe it changes FSC codes as connected drive still works for me
Hey, changed the VIN with Esys, booted up Toolset32 and when im hitting the Provisioning and run job i will get an error saying runtime error. Toolset32 will close, i skipped this step, rebooted everything. Carplay is now visible in my HU but when i try to connect I get an error that carplay cant be activated in the car. Please help!
I had this error also when using my dell machine, I had to reimage my laptop again due to some corrupt files linked to Java. I then completely switched to another laptop (HP) with Windows 11 and have had no issues whatsoever even though it’s slow af
Maybe try disabling your firewall and restart your laptop, then give it one more shot for Toolset32. I had the same problem and fixed it.
I've got this issue, was successful on a few cars, but now I'm facing this issue, have you managed to resolve it
This is what happens to me. You don't even have to provision, if it's not activating it means you don't have a WiFi port in the back of your unit. Double check

Most 2020 g20 models have CarPlay just add that to your Google search you’ll find a few 👍

in series 3 2014 my old system is hu_entry the nbt 6 works well after coding with my car I bought the fsc patch (feature installer) but I cannot activate the carplay

CarPlay will only activate if you have the wifi antenna on your unit aswell as the extra 2gb ram the newer units have. Even if CarPlay activates it will crash the head unit. 2GB of ram is not enough to run idrive and CarPlay simultaneously. You need a head unit with the wifi antenna and 4GB ram aka hu_entrynav2 or NBT 2
Do you have an pdf of word document with all the steps to code? Would like to try this on my bwm X1 f48 FL 2020.
Where it says ‘change ‘interface = (x)’ where exactly can I find this in the file. I can see a good few entries starting with interface = …. Is it any particular one? Thank you
There is a txt file inside the folder, if you open it, it will give you a step by step guide on how to setup tool32
I have iD5 version H and want to activate my car play , do you know if the FSC code for the map is the same to activate car play ?
Or wondering if I can just follow the esys instructions to see if I can activate it
I honestly would not have a clue, I was thinking of updating the maps but Apple Maps and Google maps so much superior in CarPlay so I didn’t go ahead with it…
Thank you for the reply , the fsc is different , I got Apple car play on it , by usb using a file yesterday but my only issue now it’s WiFi antenna getting one soon
You can upgrade to ID6 theme and then upgrade the evo version from H to X and then activate Apple CarPlay

Hi, yes it is possible even on the smaller screen just follow the same steps. However it is strongly advised to use the bigger screen as it doesn’t scale the best on the 6.5

@zeeBMW hmmm I dont get it, how can i get a VIN from a F30 from Productionyear 2020, when they stoped producing the F30 in year 2019, or do you mean, get a VIN from a G20? But does that work??
Get the vin from a late 2020 g20, f30s are solely subscription based…

You have to wait the 30 minutes for provisioning
Would this work if you have ID4 rather than ID6? Or would you have to get ID6 prior to doing this?
I believe you will need id5 or id6 to provision CarPlay

anyone know if these steps work with the 2016 340i (the head unit is compatible, but its on an older iDrive system than this). any idea @zeeBMW ? Need to upgrade first or something?
What about early f30s with the basic basic nav literally the smallest screen, can I do this? Or shall I upgrade to a 8.8 inch first?
What year and what screen shape, is it fully glass covered or the version with the depressed in screen with plastic bezels?

E-Sys sometimes bugs out, while recording a new yt video I ran into Java runtime errors. It seems the software can be finicky at times. Just close it and open it again…
We can activate carplay with wifi antenna on entrynav screen as well?
Yes you can although it would be better suited to the bigger screen

Hi, thanks for really usefull film and procedure. I've done all according it but still have small screen window with Car Play. My I-step version is also correct to have full screen (18-11-563) Do you know what is the reason?
Update your istep to the latest version, if you have hu_entrynav2 full screen CarPlay became an option in sometime around 2020. Check my TH-cam video on how to update the istep variant.

I’m not 100% sure, you’d have to check online or take the cic unit out and check behind for the antenna connector, what year is the car?

Did it work for you. When I use G20 330i vin For me it says invalid VIN
can I change VIN in FA then write it to VCM and code hu instead of FDL coding?
I wouldn’t recommend that bro, you will most definitely loose connected drive if you do that

Is the wifi antenna needed ? If I already have activated CarPlay and it works fine wirelessly.
I bought the antenna as I thought I would need it but so far I haven’t noticed any connection problems
It is definitely needed, if you move your phone from where the cigarette lighter is around too much CarPlay will disconnect. I thought exactly the same thing until I started having to wait 5 minutes for my phone to connect when it’s in my pocket. It’s for stability, I advise you connect it…
@@zeeBMW yeah mate I’ll connect it since I’ve bought it, but I usually put the phone on passenger seat and been working fine for a few days.
@@zeeBMW I’ve put in the new 8.8 screen but nothing is showing. The “no signal” is not there either ? Does that mean my screen is faulty

If you followed it and it still doesn’t work the screen may be faulty. If it shows no signal it is actually a bad sign as you’ve bought a pre lci screen…
When I connect the cable, it doesn't recognise the vehicle, it says no zgw available
You need to turn the car off and then replug the OBD cable into the port again, let me know if that works

It should do as long as it’s selected in e-sys CarPlay provisioning is the same. I’m not sure if it would work with tool32 though. You’d have to find out and see…
@zeeBMW hmm i did try it however all the folders were showing without a name just dots, tool 32 wasnt wanting to connect so i tried it through connected drive as someone mentioned below but didnt seem to work
@@Ishtiaqh14 yeah it doesn’t seem like it will work with this older version of esys. It’s detected sure but there is probably a different method on a newer version of esys.

@@syxncars9714 you have to double check by taking out the head unit. I had the same error come up with a weak signal/no antenna

Is it worth paying for a lifetime FSC code or doing it this way?

I done this on the exact same car and head unit, carplay is there but it says csnnot be activated
You need to remove the device and then re-pair it, if it keeps happening you need to istep upgrade the unit for a more reliable connection
@@zeeBMW turns out the headunit didn't have a WiFi port in the back. Which is why the idrive couldn't activate carplay

You are better off looking for 3rd party head units for android mirroring
if it’s a 5 series can you use a 3 series VIN# and vice versa ?
I wouldn’t know but if you have the same head unit the premise is the same
Where do you change the "interface = (x)" part. I can't seem to find it in the EDIABAS file. Is it the first line in the file that opens? Mine says "Interface = STD:OBD" and right under that #Interface = Remote. Also can I use the MHD adapter with ethernet cable to do all of this, or do i need another cable ?
also I was checking out Esys and I don’t have the 500 option i only have 530 and 510? which one would i use in my case ?
tool32 keeps giving me this error EDIABAS Fehler 162 : NET-0012: NO CONNECTION. I'm using the MHD black adapter esys detects it but having issues with tool32 any help would be appreciated

@@zeeBMW One more question, have you tried whether it now accepts the installation of a new map? Does inserting the VIN number also affect the FSC map? Since these are separate FSCs
@@igorigor926 I only use Apple Maps via CarPlay, I haven’t tried to update my maps. Stock BMW maps are garbage man
Have you tried it on MGU? I am also interested in carplay activation and map update on BMW G05...
How to search for vin numbers. Can not find any
You’ll need to search a CarPlay compatible bmw and then use something like car vertical for the vin

hey I have set tool 32 open the correct file but get error IFH-0018
Try reopening Tool32 it sometimes runs into runtime issues

Have you tried reinstalling esys, also is the car ignition switched on without the engine on?
@@zeeBMW Working fine now but whenever I enter a hex value converted from a VIN number it won’t apply changes as it says it’s invalid in E-Sys

Thank you for making such a detailed video, and your other videos as well.I followed the installation without any issues. However, I am having an error when trying to read the VCM. An error pops up. The same is in the log: description: Service RC_VCM_GEN_SVT returned a negative response with response code requestOutOfRange; LinkName: VCM_ETHERNET

I have a 2020 Mini Clubman F54. I read that I should be choosing the same vehicle number f20 as you are using.

More info as I wait for help. I found on a couple of forums reference to this error. They stated to read the ECU instead. So I am doing that. I did not state that someone already put Carplay on my system for a fee. I have been irritated that my connected service was working but in Dutch and not usable. I have now found the VIN number he used, thanks to this great guide. Thanks. Can I put my VIN back in and expaect that my connected services and my ability to send destinations again via my app? Could Ithen try to install another VIN myself to activate CarPlay later? Thanks.
If you are 100% sure he used this method of activating CarPlay then yes, if he used feature installer then I wouldn’t try amending the VIN, it could cause you to loose connected services permanently!

Hi, thanks for relly great video. Whan I start LOOLS32 and try to open enavevo.prg the error apear: EDIABAS Fehler 28 : IFH-0018: INITIALIZATION ERROR. Do you have any idea what is wrong?

@@zeeBMW i have just tried this and the same error appears. Firewall is off and used device manager to disable other devices
