This would be a great question to ask on Kicker unmasked live. I think the way it’s designed the mechanical attachment on the landing is more that sufficient for extreme amounts of power and it makes it field serviceable without waiting on glue to dry.
Modular for sure. Kicker has built a very easy to repair system and it’s amazing quality as well. I repair their older model L7 woofers and this is way easier…lol Great product and great vlog.
I have a zv5 15 in the wife's car just ordered an upgraded drop in kit but this is super neat no need for CA glue and so easy a dummy like me can do it without fear of messing up this will be my first recone i have ds18 horns that are drop in replacement diaphragms so they can be fixed in about 3 mins i love it all subs and speakers need to be this way
Really nice to see that they repair kit doing is so easy like this 12x9 Boston spl555 sub back in the day.. but it was just the coil... good one kicker
I have 2 older L7 15 the front of the cover where the s is got damaged and I blew one can i take the rubber and cover off the bad on and put it on the other one if need i can send pictures
I have an old 15” Kicker L3 (I believe it says L3) that’s locked up tight. A rebuild kit is made for it, but after researching its power handling capabilities, I decided not to try to fix it. I believe it’s rated @500 watts? Figure I’d just damage it if I fixed it.
Let's go Hifi! That is the best subwoofer I have ever seen. So much thought and engineering. Best of all field servicable and can be customized. I would paint white with purple splatter.
7:40 Should have made a larger box. That might be ok for a regular 600W 12".... but not the L7X when going for numbers. Would be a nice daily bumper box though! Looks like solid construction too!
This one is built to Kicker spec. I typically build mine using winisd, but so many people complain I’m not going by manufacturer specs that I stayed with the recommended enclosure for this one
Glad you did a video. I hope I never have to do this, but I'm definitely buying the recones just in case. For like 200 bucks your getting a brand new sub if you ever blow one. Too cool.
Sadly as a former lead installer/ shop manager at an authorized kicker dealer for 10 years and a customer who used kicker for even longer I can say from experience you’ll need those recones often. Kicker subs just don’t last like the other brands I have used and more importantly currently use. I’ll avoid naming these brands to keep hate comments from the fanboys to a minimum
I love hearing honest feedback from someone who has experience with the products. I hope that’s not the case with this one, but you never truly know until you’ve beat on it for a while
@@HifiVega I don’t have any experience with these subs . I know kicker has gone a different route like bigger coil and what not so hopefully the issues of the past are just past issues. Better products means better competition in the market and as consumers that’s what’s in our best interests
@@HifiVega yea. I already have soooo many amps collecting dust already. Heck I just bought a taramps 3k just cause it was on sale for 100$ lol. It’s sitting next to my jl 1000/1 again collecting dust.
So it’s basically twice as hard as the previous generation solo x. You gotta remove the whole thing from the box to recone it. Seems like they went backwards on this one.
Very nice video. How much would you sell a unsed 18 kicker solo. I was thinking $1500 plus shipping. Please let me know what you think. Oh it is a dual 4.
I think it's a super cool driver.nice to see kick back in the game..but if we are honest..it's not in the zv6 and night shade and DC lvl5,6 or big Fi woofer world.this is in the world of the sundown x. Which is great. And a wonderful throw back woofer with wonderful upgrades...
Some people are never satisfied. All these unsatisfied people how about you make your own sub and put it on the market. People just can’t stand kicker for whatever reason you know the solo x is a great product and the most innovative sub the game has seen in long long time period. So you nit pickers go pick out your favorite panties and drool over the L7X

But if using a regular amp that does not account for rise, i would get a bigger amp, like a jp83, or a Surge audio 10k! Good luck with the 150Db, i cant wait to see it!

A very attractive selling point and super convenient. I'm buying one just for that in itself.

This would be a great question to ask on Kicker unmasked live. I think the way it’s designed the mechanical attachment on the landing is more that sufficient for extreme amounts of power and it makes it field serviceable without waiting on glue to dry.
@@HifiVega Bingo! No gluing means you're back up and running in 15-20 minutes. No longer is a blown sub the end of your day!
By the way, what is the net cu. ft., port area, and port tune Hz, of this enclosure you built, for the soloX 12inch?
I’ll be releasing a box build video, but it’s aligned with the recommended box specs.

I can repair that for you. Find me on Instagram.
Where did you purchase the kit from
Does anyone know when the 15's will be out?!?!?! I am waiting on those but damn I can't wait too much longer lol
I haven’t a clue 😬
The 10's will be out next, then the 15's. 18's next year.
I wonder if they got ideals from orion hcca???
The original solo x was field replaceable and it came out before the Orion Hcca subs
I think all premium subs should take a good look at what kicker has done here.. I absolutely love this design
Where can i find this speaker
Ummmm... Whats the specs of that box? Internal volume? Tune? Port area?

If you play Bass Cube and cock your head to the side, will produce tetrahedral sound waves?
I heard you could only make idiot kids?
Awesome. I love subs that can be fixed easy. 👍🏻🔊👍🏻
