I love that you mention the lights and how they can impact the hue and even the mood of the room. I’m a realtor and it’s one of the things that really stands out when we photograph a house to sell. Well coordinated lighting makes a home look warm and inviting. Great tips! I’m be sharing this with my clients when they ask about simple things they can do to get their homes ready to sell! Thank you!
I agree! I’m a real estate photographer and lighting can make or break the house. I’ve even heard of realtors changing out light bulbs for their photographers to get rid of nasty color casts
Growing up we used our towels until they were threadbare. As an adult I replace them every 4 or 5years, it's a small luxury that makes a big difference
Love your videos because you move at a FAST pace to keep one interested ! So many TH-camrs have too much small talk and NEVER get to the point ! Thank you !!
I painted all my upstairs doors black with white trim, and the walls were like Accessible Beige. People thought I was crazy, but when they saw it, they loved it. Painting the doors black makes a huge difference, for the better.
Absolutely! People need to think outside the box. I bet it's very pleasing to the eye when you go upstairs and enter your hall. Accessible Beige and Baby Fawn by Benjamin Moore are two colours that are very sophisticated and have endless possibilities. I just bought a 19th century Edwardian cottage in Ireland (where I live), I will definitely be using Baby Fawn in my fixer-upper dream home.
I would totally love that something I would like. And I like all kinds of different colors.I'm just sick of seeing the sterile white white everything. They look like Office buildings to me something With Is color and warmth
I’ve helped hang art in a gallery and while I do think that having a perfectly uniform gallery wall is a more “surefire” way to have a put together look, we shouldn’t rule out a varied gallery wall. It’s all in your composition, making sure the spacing is equal and/or visually balanced, and lining up edges with one another. There’s still a “grid” even when there isn’t an obvious grid. No hate to a uniform wall, I just think there’s room for both when done well 👌

I teach graphic design and freelance- for gallery walls as in panel pictures/ consistent internal margins!!!! Also start with your largest and build around it- smallest pics to the outside and PLEASE don’t have anyone facing “off the page”! In your gallery mosaic all faces to the center other wise leads the viewer right away from your display. And black and white - YES! Unless all your pictures color echo which could be done on a digital file but likely not in a photo montage
Thank you! I have four kids, so I appreciate the little hacks. I work hard and sometimes I want a few nice things or to make the house look a little nicer when guests visit. More videos like this please!
Love this video Shea! I've been watching you forever now!!! We just painted our entire home SW Pure White and it is GORGEOUS! We did the entire thing ourselves. Highly recommend the color!!! It is truly a perfect white. There are a lot of youtube color experts that explain why it is so great. Oh my gosh... they are spot on! I'm glad you recommended it. Have a beautiful day! 💖
AWESOME VIDEO!! Like someone else said, direct to the point, no rambling and asking for subscription first, which actually made me become a subscriber! Thank you!
Bought a sofa from mandaue foam. I choose an L shape dark blue sofa since i have a toddler. The color compliments the furniture and wall paint that we have. ❤
Antique dealers will tell you to never refinish, paint, change any antique item of value unless necessary. You will decrease the value substantially if you do. If it's not an authentic period pc. and of little value, then have fun with it and do what you want. if you change the hardware on an antique pc of furniture, save the originals and don't toss out.
I need that Museum putty for my vases because I have rowdy cats at times! Thankfully nothing broke yet, but still. Thanks for letting me know about it!
Great ideas, Shea. I totally agree that white towels make a bathroom look much more luxurious. I'm going to grab one of the large trays and place it on my nightstand, which is fairly large, like yours. Great for hand cream, face creams, and even a a small jewelry box for keeping pieces that you wear daily. Thanks for the great tips. Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day❣❤❤
Heirloom pieces... I have a ton of vintage pieces in my apartment. I prefer before 70s, but do have some pieces from the 70s. I also have a Singer Sewing machine table from the 40s.
Absolutely fantastic tips!! I wish you said which oil to get. But your style is great. You start immediately! That is HUGE! You don't have annoying music to transition which blows my ears out with headphones and I need to go back and forth lowering and raising volume throughout videos. And you avoided that. And your upbeat style is so great! Thank you. PS if you can do favorite furniture and links that would be great! Lamps, accent chairs (especially so hard to find quality even at high prices), dressers, consoles, etc. Kind regards, Kathy
My wife uses the same trace mineral drops. I store it away and use it to refill an amber glass bottle with a dropper (it may have been a Vit-C bottle with the label removed) that along with a few other similar changes and it has elevated the look and feel of our bathroom.
I love amber lights, my new build has bright lights in the bathrooms, kitchen, living room has soft white, but my recess lights in the kitchen and living room are super bright
Ty Shea. You save me time in finding certain products. Could u do a show on lampshades and different types of lights and smaller ambient lighting. I can’t find a variety of lampshades either. All seem to look the same.
Love this. I could not stand warm light bulbs so I switched to daylight and my husband hates it. We will try cool white. I actually thought the cool white has the blue tint. Would you ever do a home tour?
I have very similar blue prints as you and those blue vases, I’m actually getting over all the blue and going to spray paint some of my vases in a matte black for something different, it’s all very Hampton style the blues, whites and greys, it is here in Australia 🇦🇺. Your home is Beautiful Shea and some great tips as always.
Starting right off the bat…the first tip is totally a taste thing..especially the symmetrical thing. Don’t agree at all. In fact, on to #2… canvas prints can look very high end. I’ll watch til the end but what I’m taking away from this video is…do what makes you happy and keep it up and your house will look nice. Edit to say I totally agree about upgrading to little things like the faucets THAT YOU LIKE, this goes for like wall fixtures and stuff too. And the gray thing is also true. Easy and not super expensive. Buy like one or two at a time.
About the “scent of your home”… remember that there are people with allergies, cheap chemicals also affect your hormonal balance, so if you’re going to use that diffuser, use 100% essential oils, not blends.

I'm a dentist and i really disliked working in the "daylight" lightbulbs! Its more like "warehouse white". I actually had them remove it immediately:) I keep lighting in the warmer tones as you enter and wait in the reception area so you feel "cozy". Then when you are in the treatment area, we use cool tone bulbs so we can see shades for color matching porcelain and filling..People spend most of their life in cool lighting. Thanks for the dental shout out.
You can use the Dollar Tree poster tack just like the museum putty. It is great if you live in earthquake zones, but it also makes it faster and easier to dust!
Dittos to Repose Gray. Walk into a room painted in this color and it feels like a cool lungful of oxygen. It doesn't come across as gray, either, just something soft. Everything with color looks more vivid, and everything with white looks more crisp and tailored. Daylight looks less harsh and lamplight takes on a glow. It's truly a miraculous paint color.
I need that Museum putty for my vases because I have rowdy cats at times! Thankfully nothing broke yet, but still. 😂Thanks for letting me know about it!

Gone would be the family dinners, birthday parties, dinner club hosting, friends & family gatherings all tied up in these pieces. I want to repurpose, he wants them gone for good. (HUGE eye roll here). I know what needs to go. LOL
Regarding the bathroom faucets….you switched from a 4” to an 8” which you cannot do without switching the entire countertop! Turns out it is expensive….

They do not come in equal sizes and uniform framing, so finding the best spot for each of them is challenging. Also, I agree that framing makes painting look better but it is not cheap. Good frames are very expensive.
I need a tip. I e read and my vet is adamant that essential oils are toxic to cats- all except lavender (go figure). I always had candles and wax tarts going now I’ve switched to Lamp Berger but even though company says safe for cats I worry.

The blue "paisley patterns" are "chinoisserie" which is Chinese inspired French design. Not paisley 🙂 and I do love it. Good tips.
