I'm interested in learning about the best programs out there, whether to pursue a masters or PhD, and whether the online approach is as successful as choosing a brick and mortar program. I'm also older (40) and the professional experience I've gained through the years, I believe, is culminating into pursuing this field. Thanks for any help!

I'm on the fence between Clinical Psychology and IO Psychology. I have a very problem-solving, tactical mindset that could be effective for an IO consulting position but combined with my pretty decent empathy could make a clinical psyche position good too. Anybody here have any insight as to which might be better? I'm already aware that IO makes more money for less overall time spent in education, but what are some of the other pros and cons of each?
I am in the same boat as you, buddy. Personally I'm leaning towards IO Psychology, I want to help people, but I hear Clinical can lead to people getting burnt out (which wouldn't be fun after the huge amount of time that went into the degree). With IO i could work with people, make good money, but the stress of a corporate job may get to me.
I thought my dilemma was soooo unique, I feel the same way. I was wondering if I/O is like designed for USA? I'm sure it's alive and well in other countries but seems like a USA thing since it involves work. (I would like to have a career where I have the possibility to emigrate easily)
@@vanessaharrigan1691 wow same here guys. I was really into clinical at the first but then I understood IO was more perfect for me?. Have you guys joined for the masters ? I'm planning to do my masters from europe. Do you guys have any suggestions or tips pls share. Thank you.
I feel lost, I have a doctorate in I/O psychology but not sure how to get started or what jobs are a good match. My problem is that most of the jobs I see are requiring years of experience. As of now I just use my masters in clinical psychology and earn a living proving telehealth but would like to use my Doctorate.
SIOP offers the I-O Job Network, which features a job board and resumes bank: www.siop.org/Career-Center/I-O-Job-Network There are a few active jobs that don’t specify years requirements, just experience, and skills. Hi Sadiya, We don't recommend any particular programs. Instead we offer a number of tools to help you make the right decision for yourself. Find them here: www.siop.org/Membership/Students
Sorry for the slow response, Sarah! If you have access to research gate you'll find a lively discussion there about the difference. One response by an I-O psychologist stated that I-O psychology is like OBM and HR management combined. Another comment points out that I-O is grounded in psychology while OBM draws influences from several social sciences.

Is a licensed required to use the title io psychologist once you’ve completed PHD in io?
What can I do with an I/O Ph.D. And no psychologist license? I don’t want to be a clinician.

Do you think it is beneficial to get an MBA as well as a I/O psychology masters? or is a Ph.D in I/O psychology better overall?
mba is waste bc u learn it all in IO
and most successful IOP did minimal school and landed a sort of "lucky" spot.
I'm confused between MS in IO Psychology and MBA. Isn't it companies would prefer the person with MBA than IO Psychologist
Good question Abhinav, and sorry for the slow reply. That would really depend on the company and the specific role.
MBA! I have a doctorate in I/O and feel lost.
Which is the best course for M. Sc. In organizational psychology?

Is there a difference between OBM and IO psychology?

So, does an I/O psychologist do mostly research?
It depends. PhD I/O Psychologists primarily research. MA/S I/O Psychologists typically work in consulting or HR
