Thank you for making this video! Currently Im thinking of going back to school to get a degree but I didnt know where to start or what I like really. Thought of going for clinical/organisational psychology but sociology sounds nice as well. I dont know yet but I do know that it will definitely be in social sciences, so thats a start. Being able to watch videos like these helps me pick a choice without regret, so thank you again!

Unfortunately, consultants never get to the root of the issue and rarely create success long-term for organizations, departments and/or teams. I’m glad to see many companies are moving more towards hiring embedded experts within specific programs, as opposed to hiring external consultants.

    • @ChapterStackss

Hi! I looked at both internal roles on HR teams and and consultant roles. Some of the skills for my current role were background in 1) facilitating workshops 2) a DISC certification 3) background in culture development and 2) experience with employee engagement surveys.
But that was very specific to my job and it would vary a ton depending on the role. Hope that helps and feel free to let me know if you need anything else!

    • @ChapterStackss

Thank you! Luckily no. At least with the company I work for, the majority of times when clients would be upset is when they’re dealing with high stress issues such as terminations, legal compliance, and employee relations issues. Because I work more so on the employee engagement and learning and development side, there are rarely emergencies that they would be getting upset about :)

That’s a great question! I’m pretty sure that I talk about it and the video that I have linked in the description because in it I talk a lot about different types of jobs in the field. If you’re trying to focus more on statistics, data, and employee engagement then I would recommend I/O psychology. However for most roles within an HR department a big companies a masters in HR would work great. Hope that helps!

This is extremely interesting video, I started an IO degree but due to life circumstances I never finished. I’m just a few years older then yourself and I always feel like I should go back and finish the degree. have been lucky enough to work my way up as a consultant from a major tech company in the US to manage a knowledge Management team for a project. I’ve love your opinion on if you think it would add value at the end of the day? I would only focus on completing my BA, I don’t know if a masters would ever be in the cards for myself (as much as I wish it could be). How much of your daily task etc do you reply on your formal education. My daily suites include content development, managing technical trainers, working with leadership and culture and management leadership’s development. I’ve been doing this role for the last two year but before that I was managing a quality assurance team.

Congratulations because it sounds like you already have a great job!! I don't refer to my class notes much at all. One option instead could be to get a certification such as say from the Academy of Brain-based leadership - who knows, your company may even offering continuing education and would pay for it. Happy to answer any other questions you may have!

@thankgodforpunkrockbandaid8903 Hello. School psychology salaries vary greatly from state to state and even within districts that are close to each other. I live in Texas and salaries range from low 60s to over 100. This really depends on the contract type. I want to leave the field due to the work life balance not salary. You can make over six figures in this field with experience ( 10 years plus) or working contract or private practice if you have a PhD. You work alot though for the higher salary. Well over 40 hours per week.
