Thank you, I was looking for something like this. Sometimes when you look for these alternatives they don't appear in a search result or are so far down they become overlooked.
Love this review, thank you. Wish they made a warm or "yellow" light color option because I can't stand bright white in my living space. My toddlers don't mess with my plants for the most part but all the expensive or delicate ones are down in my own plant dungeon
So there i was, 2 am, shopping black Friday sales on the Big A when I came across this light. I swipe over and what do I see but this review video on the listing! Needless to say I immediately added it to my cart. Thank you!
the concerning part is - there are not enough vents. these 40w can get really hot. like hot/burn to the touch. which is not a safety thing but more of a life spawn question. so.. yeah. also, the pendant light from Rousseau Plant Care looks like a more serious rival with all those side vents and adjustable light spread/angle :) whoever is thinking to buy any of these - keep in mind you would want the light in an angle, because all the leaves will turn horizontal in the longer term and loose the nice view if you just put it above. it's ok for bushes an tree-like plants, but for anything else.. yup. think twice .) I have a lot of Soltech lights, and the ceiling ones "Highland" are the best imo. But Rousseau has a nice solution with the little hook and string thingy to make the pendant ones hang in an angle - works wonders! Another thing - Soltech ones will work for years and years! that's what your're paying for. And build quality - like no other, imo. Nice review tho'! always interesting to see something new. Would love to see more innovation however, hah ;) The makers of these things need to talk more with the growers..
the only mod i can think of here is some kind of hook on the venthole. These do get pretty hot. I have not used the two brands youve mentioned and only have seen em online but your opinion seems pretty solid!
@@TechplantChannel I wish you could get those for a review or smth. might be worth a try to contact them .) like, Soltech, Rousseau, "Mother" (with plantspectrum products). You're an awesome grower and content creator! :) worth a shot. but of course, looking for a budget lights for large premises is no less of an interesting and important research and reviews to do! about buying those I mentioned.. welp. It's an investment no doubt. would I recommend to go for the expensive ones? it depends. some things are even cheaper to replace every few years than go with bigger brands. and it's more about the installation preference, I guess. but for one that grows just a handful, like, more rare/hard to find plants I'd say it can be a reasonable thing to do. especially if you want a warranty and just a really good product in your living room or smth. Because some even claim that cheap leds can go weak/bad or die out with everyday usage in time (for ex.~ th-cam.com/video/FCfmAzVMOGM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W1u7tO3bS8YRz3aP&t=170 ). For me - some cheaper ones I had did die irregularly, and for no good reason. I've used some inexpensive ones before, like SANSI and such.. before I got where I am. but in the end - well, one has to try those somewhat better thought-out/more expensive products too, just to have an opinion and compare with future reviews ;) who knows, maybe you'll end up inventing your own product one day! and thnx for the response .)
I have an experiment that you should try to see if it makes a difference with the growth of a plant. You should do an experiment with a regular water prop/growth and then adding a small cap full of hydrogen peroxide in the other to see what one does better. To see if the extra oxygen in the water contributes to a faster growth
My issue with these hanging pendant lights is that since the light source is coming from above, all the leaves on my monsteras and climbing philodendrons face upwards towards the light and they don’t look as nice from the front anymore. 😅
@TechplantChannel Redbubble has just about everything. Found some merch that said tech and had pics of plants. Lol. Completely random but still my plant peeps know what it means
that sucks! what if you asked them? im trying to think of how you could do this without drilling and all i can think of would be a big upside down L shap that was up against the wall and you hung it from that
I’d like to see a video of you testing 4 different liquid fertilizers with 8 plants of 2 different species. Like for instance 4 tomatoes and 4 melons. Testing Fish Fertilizer, Liquid Seaweed, Miracle Grow and Garret Juice Plus. There’s 3 different versions of Garret Juice. The Plus version has fish added to it. I’d like to see it poured over the foliage while being watered to get the foliar feeding also. Maybe you could do 10 plants and mix all 4 fertilizers together also just to see the effects.
I think you posted about a similar diy light on reddit about a year ago. which is how i found your TH-cam channel!! I almost made one until i found a similar dupe on amazon. Super cool to see more options nowadays. Love seeing your content!! 🌿🌙
dupes are a lot better and with the price its harder to justify making one, cuz by the time you buy the bulb, the cord, the paint, and the can of beans you are like 10 bucks away from something solid WITH hanging hardware and no risk of cuts or something from the can
Bought this from your video but it doesn’t work with my own smart plug. Was hoping it would work based on your test outcome but it didn’t. Not sure if it’s supposed to be this way or if it’s defective. The light flips on for a second and then powers back off when I try to cycle my smart outlet. Probably going to go back since I don’t like the built in style timers as I like them to turn on before I get up (which means I have to be up in order to set it up to begin with).
I have the same issue as well. It defaults to being off instead of on when plugged. Did you ever figure out how to change this? I noticed there is an option that comes with a smart timer that must default to being on instead of off.
These grow lights bother me a lot because once the LEDs burn out, that’s it. It becomes e-waste. It is so difficult to find cute grow lights with replaceable bulbs. I just end up putting grow bulbs in various lamps around my house. For the price, I want to be buying this for life.
yeah thats my gripe. I did make one with a bulb and a spray painted soup can that looks very similar. you might like that cuz you can get the aesthetic but not be wasteful
P. S. My 4 arm grow light died after two years. My bulb is going strong year 2 as well. Has a small high pitched whine which is a little annoying when standing next to it
Is it true you can kill your plants with grow-lights? I think that's how I destroyed all my tomato plants this past spring. They bolted and looked like ivy reaching for each other and then died.
tomatoes require one heck of a light to get something that stays bushy, hard to say what killed them, but if they are "reaching" it usually means the light isnt sufficient. thats a similar story to what happened when i grew some indoors. Also sometimes a grow light can create too much heat inside a box and cook the plants
I added cooler light temp (more blue) to my setup, i cant really see any huge differences but I also have made no attempt to document it. this light a bit more blueish in spectrum
THE BUGS ARE BURROWING IN YOUR SKIN! JK so other videos of mine have been fine but this one has diff audio? the intro and outro have a diff mic setup I can investigate
Thank you, I was looking for something like this. Sometimes when you look for these alternatives they don't appear in a search result or are so far down they become overlooked.
there are a few diff brands popping up on amazon now and all around the same price which is nice!

4:12 I was like, hey stop it
lol sorry
Recently subscribed, just bought my first grow bulb to just use in my lamps around my plants that don’t have window access
nice! thats another great way to give your plants artificial light but in a nice setting!

Screenshotted and will try
I have my plants out around my kids, including a 2 year old. Guess i like living life on the edge 😎
nice!

thats a good point lol, i guess you gotta sorta rotate them out
There’s a version of this with a stand.
Just got my new hoodie and stickers. Love them❤
What do you mean?
@TechplantChannel Redbubble has just about everything. Found some merch that said tech and had pics of plants. Lol. Completely random but still my plant peeps know what it means
Man, I wish I could mount this on the ceiling but I live in an apartment 😞 I’ll keep it in mind though. Thanks for sharing!
that sucks! what if you asked them? im trying to think of how you could do this without drilling and all i can think of would be a big upside down L shap that was up against the wall and you hung it from that
Awesome! How do you remove the diffuser? 👀

I wish this video would have came out before I just ordered my lights 😢 Oh well the lights I ordered are good anyway. Happy holidays my friend 💚🌿💯
yeap, you still have nice lights in the end!
How did you use this light with a smart timer? It defaults to being off when plugged in. Which makes no sense to me.
What’s the color temperature?
4000k

Thanks for the review! I love the clean look!
finally someone using a proper par meter then a lux meter , lol

Can we get an isopod update??
Do different brands of grow lights affect the growth rate? I only have Amazon ones :

How long do your sansi lights typically last? Mine end up dying after a year :(
They have a three year warranty on almost all their grow lights. They replaced one of mine, no questions asked aside from a video of it not turning on
P. S. My 4 arm grow light died after two years. My bulb is going strong year 2 as well. Has a small high pitched whine which is a little annoying when standing next to it

@@TechplantChannel thanks so much for the input. I’ll keep that in mind for 2024. Merry Christmas!
Looks great
It does! Thanks for watching
Saludos cordiales amigo 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤😂😂😂❤😂😂😂😂😂😂❤😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Do you ever use blue lights for your plants? I have read blue light is good for lettuce.
I added cooler light temp (more blue) to my setup, i cant really see any huge differences but I also have made no attempt to document it. this light a bit more blueish in spectrum
if you want something more blue tho, I would look into like 6000k and up
Same product for about 1/3rd the price
yeah pretty much, even if soltech is better Im guessing its not 150bucks better
What's your accent? It's so strong. I can't understand
I don't speak English but his accent is fine for me 🤔
Maybe my hearing is bad today, I might have thrips in my ears. I love the videos usually
The thrips got my brain. Mealy bugs in my ear holes
LOL thanks for the nightmares!
THE BUGS ARE BURROWING IN YOUR SKIN! JK so other videos of mine have been fine but this one has diff audio? the intro and outro have a diff mic setup I can investigate
I think you need a different mic my bro. Or a different sound editor. Maybe a writing coach too
which parts?
All sounds good to me. What's wrong with the mic?
@@EverythingPlants I actually realised I had my Sound on the wrong setting. You're good my friend
@@Ahnocalypse 👍I was wondering what I was missing, because it sounds CRISP!
