    For the washers being placed on the nut side, that's how the assembly instructions say to do it. I'm building a new one and spotted that too.

    Thanks for your video! Have had issues with water from your air compressor yet?
    I had all kinds of problems, even after installing two inline water filters. Finally solved it by adding an auto water drain valve kit on the air compressor drain plug.
    I’m using the Dewalt auto drain kit….

    Excellent video. What type of compressor are you running it with it?

      I’m using a 60 gallon air compressor. The brand is Black Diamond. Same as Husky and Kobalt

    Why does everyone connect the cyclone to the intake on the side instead of the rear exhaust port ?.

    You should have taken the hopper apart and sealed the joints properly. Sealing the joints like that will just hinder the flow of the media.

    Looks beautiful!! I love the wood glass cover thing. I just found one of these on Facebook also and I am going to turn it into a vapor honing cabinet. Before I do that I might do the upgrades that you did first.. Thanks for sharing this great build...

    what compressor are you using? horse power? CFM? pressure?
    Thanks

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a 60-gallon 11.5 SCFM compressor. It does the job.

      I guess my little compressor is not going to do it.
      Would you let me know what brand compressor, motor voltage ( I only have 110/115, pictures because I may have to buy another one.

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      @tonyportella994 mine is a Diamond brand found at my local farm/fleet store however any 60 gallon compressor would be adequate for your needs. Kobalt, Husky, DeWalt etc. most of them are made in the same factory and have different branding painted on the tanks.

    That support ring is supposed to be on the underside of the hopper.. but its too flimsy to do anything anyway

    whats it like for leaking after you sealed it mate?? any dust/media out the seams still. im about to do mine

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only leak is where I passed the sand feeder tube through the box. I need to put a grommet on the tube to seal it off better.

    I got one for Christmas from my son .I Bound out if there's any water in your compressor the beat blusher will not keep working cause. It gets the glass wet and it will not go to thenazzle no. WI gotta figure out a way of putting the thing on the bottom of my compressor to drain the water out of it. I get an elbow and do that. But it works really well does a good job. I'm very happy with it god bless have a great day oldgeorge

    I'm shirt somewhere in the comments and I know it's already been done so it doesn't really matter but why not just mail a light bar inside and run the wire out put it into a multi plug flicker shop vac into that and then every time you plug in your multi plug it just turns both of them on but you would still have the power of turning one on or one off and in that configuration you wouldn't have to drag the shop back around cuz it would be detachable by just unplugging it from the multi plug

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a dedicated shop vac just for my sandblaster.

    Good work. After straightening the shelf I would have turned it over and also put the bent side to the rear. Hindsight is 20/20.

    Excellent find for 40 bucks! You were doing great with the rebuild till you made the metering valve. The basic concept was there but a poor choice of parts to construct it. I've watched many TH-cam videos on different designs on how to build one of these but the parts you chose to use were very restrictive (too small) and will result in poor performance and slow blasting results. When you get a chance you might want to build a more efficient metering valve and a better gun, you'll be glad you did.

    • @geoffmorgan6059
      @geoffmorgan6059 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've never had any problems or trouble with the simple internal syphon system; the few times I have had less than good results have been easily remedied. I have seen a bunch (!) of youtube videos where the first thing folks do is add a "gravity" feed "metering" valve to the cabinet. Some of these are homemade and some are commercial. The gun venturi provides the suction necessary to pull the media up from the hopper regardless of the arrangement. The least distance that the media has to travel is optimum. The only system design that is more efficient is the pressure pot system. They are mostly (yes, there are a couple of exceptions) commercial and expensive. I think most of the frustration with syphon tubes is damp media, gun nozzle trouble, mismatched components, and blocked or poorly made syphon tubes.

  • @peteaddis1548
    @peteaddis1548 ปีที่แล้ว

    The air valve is upsid down, your media will flow out of there like an egg timer.

    Great vid, but put off by the dozen or so adverts I’m subjected to throughout!

    • @SouthpawWorkshop
      @SouthpawWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. TH-cam has become ridiculous with the placement and quantity of ads during videos. My suggestion is to use an adblocker on your browser. TH-cam placed those ads without my permission. All my new uploads do not have ads in the middle of the video (called mid-roll ads), only at the beginning and the end of the video.
