I have a copy of Young’s grammar. It was recommended to me by one of my professors, but I haven’t read it much. After watching this review I will start immediately. Thanks.
A small " tip" . In Koine greek the usage of the infinite form of verbs is very common. When you see a word ending with - EIN,this is most of the time, the infinite form. Like when we say for example i want TO DRINK etc etc. You might also see the word GAR - γάρ,too many times. This word actually doesn't have a direct translation, but it used when you want to explain something. In German language if anyone speaks it, it s the same as Zwar
Hi John! I recently discovered your channel and liked it from the beginning. I can feel your enthusiasm for Greek and the legacy of your father and your father's professor in your life. I'm enjoying this journey through God's Word in Koine Greek and have benefited from your content. Have you used Rodney Decker's "Reading Koine Greek - An Introduction and Integrated Workbook"? We are using it in seminary and I'd like to hear your thoughts. Every blessing,
@@alejandror.425 thanks for the comment! I've never used it, but I've heard a TON of good stuff about it! How do you like it? Also how long have you been learning Greek
@ it just so happens I’m editing a video for my channel and quoting Wallace’s book while I listening to your video. My first Greek textbook was Machen’s little black book “New Testament for Beginners”. He uses the KJV which was helpful in differentiating the second person singular from the plural form of ἐγώ. I took Greek my senior year of college in 1995 before I went to seminary. I then took Hebrew and Greek in seminary.
You re finally getting into the grammar e😂 I told you ,a proper Christian HAS to know either greek or Hebrew,Jezus s languages. Even by 20%. It just pays respect to him. Good luck though 👍👍👍 And take it slowly. Don't get " discouraged" if it s hard. Unfortunately ancient greek or koine greek bla bla is a hard language. EVEN for the natives 😊 And the fact that a " foreigner" wants to learn it ,is ALWAYS something admirable.
@@davecrawford4377 it would be excellent for a beginner. I wouldn't recommend getting it to learn Greek, in order to do that you need a beginning grammar, but I think this would be a fantastic resource to use as a companion piece with a beginning grammar
It s only for new testament etc etc? If this is the case, then probably yes, because it will help you with the translation. Otherwise it s what the dude told you.

That was a text book in my Greek 2 class in seminary along with “Greek Grammar Beyond The Basics” by Daniel B. Wallace. FYI, I’m Erik Wait.
@@KildaltonTheologicalStudies nice to meet you erik! That's super cool great grammar beyond the basics is a staple!
