  • This is kind of an experiment. This video contains two versions of the same piece. The first version is recorded with an audio interface with two condenser microphones (Røde NT5 in NOS configuration) connected to the OnePlus 9 Pro with a USB-To-Go cable. The second version is recorded with the internal microphones of the OnePlus 9 Pro and mcpro24fps as camera/recording software. You can see between the two versions that I unplug the USB-C cable that drives the audio interface.
The remarkable thing is the recording software: mcpro24fps bypasses the internal signal processing for the microphones and directly records the PCM stream from the audio interface and converts it to 512kBps AAC stereo audio. Parallel to that it records the stream as a separate .wav lossless audio file.
The internal microphones used in this way provide an excellent stereo recording without any postprocessing i.e. noise reduction, speech optimization etc. To my ears this is far superior to any other mobile phone recording of a piano that I have heard so far.
The game changer is indeed this mcpro24fps app that transforms a mobile phone into a fully controllable camera with excellent audio. Caveat: You need to record in flight mode, otherwise the audio will arbitrarily introduce pops and clicks, probably duw to background activities of other apps. Anyway, for 17$ this is an amazing piece of software.

There are no comments under this video, so I wanted to write about how beautiful and talented your performance of the music is. Thank you. It's nice that it was filmed on mcpro24fps.

Very nice, thank you for this video. Could you tell me which audio settings you use in Mcpro24fps?
