  • Queen Elizabeth became well-known around the world for having a special bond with her pets throughout her life, and in the wake of her passing, speculation is swirling about what will happen to her surviving dogs. "I imagine the dogs would be looked after by the family, probably Andrew [as] he's the one that gave them to her," royal biographer, Ingrid Seward, told Newsweek.

The Queen's little corgis will really miss her. I'm sure they when anyone enters the room they will look expectantly, hoping that it is her. Animals do feel grief. The Queen loved dogs and horses. I always felt that showed her exceptionally kind nature. Her dogs were very loved. I hope the dogs will be happy with their new owners.

That’s true. A few year ago we had an an older Ally and the younger Rudy. Ally had passed away. And Rudy kept making this most pitiful whining noise. It is a heartbreaking sound. Dogs are more perspective then we know. They know when they’re gonna go for a walk before we do. They know when a trip is happening just based on the activity around them.

That disgusted me so much, I could not get over the flippant way they were disregarded after their devoted service to keeping him safe!!! It is not commonly known - but if you google it, I believe the excuse is, they were trained so well, they could not be placed with a normal family....... my response.... they could have gone on to do other duties as guard dogs!!!!!!! As an animal lover I'm so grateful they are considering the dogs as they were obviously very important to her, so I think it would be her wish to have them stay in the family, perhaps nothing will change and they will remain in the same place with the same care. Regardless considering how loved she is, I'm sure her family will do the best they can to ensure they have the life they would have had if she was still alive.
As an aside I'm glad she died peacefully and my heart goes out to the UK during such a time of tragedy. I know Queen Elizabeth was well loved, and looked up to, even by we Americans. She was an amazing person and did so much for her people. May she rest in peace.

While we can be sure her dogs & horses will remain in the family or her dogs may go home with or stay with the trusted staff that has cared for them, I'm shocked at how many people are too selfish or too sorry to take in a close relative's dog upon their death; I don't know how someone could just drop their parent's dog off at a shelter & just walk away, knowing the dog may be put down. I want a dog again but I will get a senior because a very young dog IS likely to outlive me and that's how many end up in the shelter.. A senior dog whos owner has died and nowhere to go and not many people wanting to adopt an older dog. I can't believe the Queen would not have that figured out. Also her horses and ponies. Any of the family who likes to ride will see to them and the stables will g on as always.

A friend recently offered me one of her new chihuahua puppies. I looked them up, many live to be 17 to even 20 years.I am 75. I dont think it would be fair to the dog. I very likely will not live another decade so the dog would have to adjust to a new owner.
My Rottie is three years old and likely will live another five or so, being a large breed...seems fairer to me.
Of course the Queen was in a position I am not with MANY loyal retainers. I do have ONE, a young man who came to work on the construction of our Latin Americam home in the tropics. He mixed cement at the age of 14 to help feed his younger siblings. Now he is a very fine man of 29 and married, no children. He does everything for my husband and I , his father is now our gardener...they keep.this place in good shape house and ttopical garden and running smoothly. I count myself VERY very lucky to have them. The young man walks our Rottie since the dog is far too strong for me. I did not have the chance to obedience train him as I did all our other previous dogs so he is less than perfectly obedient out walking where there are other large dogs. The young man is just not as consistent a disciplinarian as I. Do it with love, but CONSISTLY if you want a well behaved dog.

I can't see what was so great about the Queen.. She had a fantastic life of privilege. None of her duties were dangerous. She had a long happy marriage and 4 healthy children with healthy grandchildren. She had great health and her mother lived until a few years ago. She got to see the world's people and meet a huge variety of all cultures and creeds. She dined on the finest foods and wore the finest clothes and jewels. She was treated with huge respect because of her status. She had the best of everything from the day she was born. Private planes and helicopters to take her anywhere in the world for private visits. Untold wealth, jewels and palaces to enjoy. Was driven around in expensive cars with rugs and hot water bottles. She only had to step out of a car do a short walk shake hands and be shown the latest in technology and manufacturing methods, new inventions, exotic animals, exotic cultures, etc., her mind being kept interested all the time. She had her horses and dogs, theatre visits etc etc. Not for her the fear of being lonely, alone and cold, the fear of dying neglected, or of her home being taken to pay for care fees. Being bored all day long because nobody either rings or calls. Having to maintain her home if a pipe bursts and in being elderly having to deal with unscrupulous repair men out to rip her off. She has had her share of sorrows too, but we all have. Somebody tell me - what exactly is she being praised for? She had a life that most people would give their eye teeth for. She was a very very privileged woman. Propaganda. Propaganda. Propaganda. All to preserve the Monarchy and our rulers the Aristocracy. Not being disrespectful to the Queen. She was landed with her role but she had a life to be envied. May she rest in Peace.
