Sorry to see you in so much pain - but you wear it well and clearly you’ve got a handle on it Tim! Looking forward to seeing your rehab and your smiling face and great rehab videos back on the web. You may have inspired me to finally get my own shoulder sewn back up-
....I’m a PT in the US with a torn AC and a labral tear as well that I’ve been living and working with for way too long.

  • @keritata

I had mine a rotator cuff surgery a month ago and have been going to physio since the third week, as I did not have any tears, but they did scrape some of the collar bone and cleaned built up inflammations. However, my shoulder currently is at about 50% of its capacity. After a certain point when attempting to do a front raise of the arm, the traps kick in to compensate, and I lift my shoulder in a weird way. The physio therapist says my scapula needs to regain strength in order to get involved in the movement, as it plays a big role. I am pretty good with mind to muscle connection, but as I've naturally used my scapula my whole life without thinking about it to fully rotate the shoulder, it kind of makes it hard now to try and perform this movement while thinking of it if that makes sense. Before the surgery the doctor said I'd be able to go to the gym and use the shoulder at 100% for heavy lifts, but looking at it now 30 days in, that is highly unlikely. I'd appreciate any advise. Thank you.

Regarding your bicep tear/fix, were you given an option on fixing it or just letting it dangle? I was told I had either option. The Dr said it wouldn't affect my strength or anything, just that there may be a slight bulge in my bicep. The Dr said it is less invasive to do that vs re-attaching it like you had done. If you have had a nerve block then just make sure you start your meds before it wears off as it will be quite painfully. A lot of people swear by ice to ease the pain but i found heat worked better. I just used a hot water bottle wrapped in a thin towel against my arm and it seemed to work. I slept in a chair for a week because I couldn't lay down and sleep wasn't easy but the pain eases quite quickly, really hope some of this helps and i wish you the very best, i know what you are going through!! Dr says he will also check the collar bone out while in surgery it’s giving me all day pain every day now so here I go again on Tuesday the 17th , praying I can get great rom back and full recovery. So now I’m hoping and praying for this left shoulder to recover as well as my right shoulder did and that has been since May 3 2021 including me going 2 times a week for physical therapy last time and my pure determination to get my shoulder working again with great range of motion. Of course it didn’t happen over night, but about 3 1/2 months or so. Now to be back in the game to regain my rom and strength in left shoulder Here we go !!! Wish me luck 😊 thank you hope everyone is also doing well that’s going through this type of surgery 🙌.
