Lemme help u out:
1. Stats were inflated for players across the league during this time. It was home cooking, & literally every player from assist credit, steals credit, blocks credit, rebound credit had a lil #2 pencil love.
2. If u actually look at more than those 6 gameswhich another YTer graced us w/finding an archive site, yes MJ’s steals were inflated by about 1-1.3 per game overall, cumulatively, at home; but, ironically his blocks were actually lower than he what he was credited for by the same statistician.
So if anything, his steals should’ve been lower, but his blocks should’ve been higher which is mind numbing when u think about a 6’6 guard as prolific in that dept.
3. All defensive metrics, and analytics showed he was by far the most deserving of DPOY in 1988, even if u reduced his spg to like 2.1.
There’s a lot of things that didn’t show up in the box score but count towards his defensive impact including deflections, altering shots, hard traps disrupting offenses, etc.
1. you're basing this on 6 games, there's 82 games in a season, check them all out. 6 games of 82 games is only 7.317%.
2. back then majority of players have better stats during home games than road games, you know, flying commercial to other cities, sometimes in back to back games is tiring, back to back to back games. with home games, the players are better rested.
3. those times that you've seen Leflop play defense, have you seen the advance stats during those seasons? like defensive rating and such? he is not even in the top 10.... he got voted into the defensive 1st team by journalists not due to his defensive stats, maybe those people that voted him got in contact with klutch, who knows.

I feel that my recent video didn't quite capture the points I wanted to make. If Michael Jordan's stats were boosted, it would significantly alter many advanced metrics. I've pinned another TH-camrs video that explains this concept more effectively. While LeBron James' stats might also be padded, I'll be addressing the integrity of the game in an upcoming video next month, comparing the NBA to WWE.
I bet if MJ is watching this trash he's laughing his head off like he did against the Glove, Gary Payton! Plus, if you're to try to tarnish MJ's legacy, why you nitpick the 1988 season and not the other 2 seasons where he led the league in steals? Why don't you say anything about the fact that his own teammate Kyle Kuzma pushed him to play some defense? There's video evidence of that, too! What about his turnovers and all the flopping he does? And I haven't even gotten to the worst parts! But I'm gonna throw them in for good measure! LeBron needs The Avengers and the Justice League he still has a losing record in the NBA finals plus 2011 did happen! MJ on the other hand just needed one all-star in Scottie Pippen! Plus in 91 and 98 he was the only all-star!

Facts! Because even if you remove MJ's DPOY in 1988, and you give LBJ the 2013 DPOY, MJ still has all the accolades that you mentioned, plus MJ never even came close to losing in international competition! And on the other hand, there was a time when LeBron was nicknamed LeBronze!

@@BBallBlueprints Sorry but Haberstroh provided ZERO VIDEO PROOF. That's exactly why his article is not being taken seriously by any rational person. Habrstroh's article DID NOT prove that Jordan's home stats were gifted or inflated, his article simply established that the biggest majority of DPOY candidates in the 1987/88 season (and throughout NBA history) have recorded more steals and blocks at home than on the road and that Jordan's home steals and blocks in 1987/88 are marginally higher than the number of steals and blocks his fellow DPOY candidates recorded in their home stadiums. Establishing a disparity between home and road stats is NOT PROOF of home stat inflation, players generally perform better at home, that’s not unique to MJ and it’s not unique to one NBA Era...less back-to-back games, no travel, more rested, often more energised in front of a home crowd etc. BOTTOM LINE...Regardless of what your opinion is of Jordan, the ONLY way to prove that home stat inflation contributed to him winning the DPOY in 1987/88 is to complete the following 3 steps...
1) Analyse the game footage from ALL FORTY ONE of his home games in 1987/88....evaluate each steal and block on film and compare those findings to the official box score.
2) The process in step 1 then needs to be completed for each of the other DPOY candidates from that season, in order to prove that home stat inflation (if it occurred) was limited to one player.
3) The footage from ALL 41 home games, for ALL DPOY candidates, then needs to be made public for independent review.
Haberstroh failed to complete ANY of the 3 steps laid out above, in fact he didn't even come close! Jordan played 41 home games in his DPOY season, Haberstroh analysed just 6 of those games (what about the other THIRTY FIVE!!). Since when is ANY investigation considered credible when 86% of the data in question is eliminated from analysis! Of the 6 games he claims he did analyse, 1 game was found online and has since been reviewed by several sources (ZERO evidence of stat inflation, the film matches the box score) and the other 5 games he sourced from Latvia on VHS tapes. Here's the kicker though...Haberstroh claims that there is evidence of home stat inflation in these 5 VHS games but he failed to make the VHS footage available for independent verification!!! We are expected to simply take his word on what he has observed on those tapes?? Ask yourself this…if he is so confident that the footage on those VHS tapes supports what he is alleging in his article, why hasn't he made that footage available to the public so that his claims can be verified?
You can log into the nba classic games and count yourself- it 100% factual. But it’s not just Jordan - people are finding LBJ padded stats too

Mike conley was 3rd in steals, 10th in dbpm and was voted for 2nd team all defense. both had more votes than gasol. so gasol finished as the 3rd best defender on his own team and also voted as the third best defender at his position. but he wasn't even voted third best, he was voted fourth best. he had 12 votes and larry sanders had 16. gasol was the third best defender on his own team and fourth best at his position.
