The reason phosphora lost to pit so easily was because she was exhausted from her battle with Thanatos it’s implied that if she had been at her full strength they would at the least be evenly match if not her being victorious
Very fitting. I remember hearing horror stories from my friends about how hard Thunderblight was, which is why I ended the Divine Beasts with Nabooris. Then when I actually got to Thunderblight, I had the most perfect run fighting him and I don’t think I can ever do it again or recreate it. I barely took any damage, kept getting Flurry Rushes and Parries, barely used any champion abilities, barely had to eat any food (even though I prepped like a mad woman with foods that could heal my 12 hearts of health), and I didn’t even have the Master Sword. I was pleasantly surprised by how well I did, it was truly an amazing test of reflexes and timing, one I can’t wait to revisit in the champion’s ballad, cuz I still need to do that yet. 😅
We did find out more or less how Urbosa vs Thunderblight went down. In Age of Calamity (SPOILERS) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . we can see that she gets absolutely overpowered because of a few factors: -Thunderblight's speed is the main reason, obviously. Urbosa is a strong power character that takes time to build up her own internal magic to focus it as lightning while moving swiftly and gracefully, but that doesn't matter if you can't hit your target. Her attacks can hurt a lot, but she couldn't even touch Thunderblight, it literally danced circles around her. -She's used to fighting against opponents that she can take head to head, but Thunderblight can literally be wherever it wants, and she has to focus on guarding herself at all times, which means she won't get the time she needs to charge up or begin her dancing-like movement to counterattack. She even complains during the battle about how unfair Thunderblight is for being so fast and cowardly, and she's driven to exhaustion because of its sheer speed and ability to be everywhere. -That shield that it has not only was made as a reflection of Urbosa, but also because in the few times that Urbosa could actually even manage to take a swing at Thunderblight, it blocked her. Thunderblight was clearly made as a Blitz fighter, moving in to swing and then out to avoid a counter. What better than to give something like it a shield in case an opponent could read its moves? Urbosa's no fool, she's very experienced in combat and she DID manage to throw a few swings at Thunderblight that WOULD have connected, IF it didn't have the shield. So yeah, like you said, Thunderblight was literally created to kill specifically her.
Yes Larxene I absolutely love that woman. Her attitude is piercing as the knives she throws and she has much more deadly elegance than any other member of Orginazation XIII

Honorable Mentions: *Fuse Man - Megaman 11 -There are quite a few electric bosses in the Megaman series from Elec Man to Web Spider and so forth, but I gotta give it to the latest electric Robot Master. *Imagawa Yoshimoto - Nioh 2 -He can fire a volley of electric arrows, and his guardian spirit is an elephant that can call large AoE lightning strikes. *The Electrocutioner - Batman Arkham Origins [record scratch sound effect] -Hahahaha! Just kidding. No. He just didn't get the memo from Lucien that people actually HATE the boss that stands perfectly still, never attacks you, and is defeated after 1 hit. So he does NOT make this list. As he is just a joke boss that is thrown to the side in favor of Deathstroke. But luckily, there is another electric supervillain... *Electro AND Vulture - Marvel's Spider-man -Technically this is half an electric boss. But I'll take any opportunity I can to include what I can. Aaaaand... *Dragonslayer Armor - Dark Souls 3 -This is Ornstein 3.0! Old Dragonslayer was... eh? So it only seems fair to give it a MASSIVE overhaul! Give it a greatshield and greataxe, imbue the axe with lightning, and give this boss a more power-focused approach to fighting what with him trying to smash you in with his shield.
Ah yes, lightning. My absolute favourite element and power, above sound and ice in that order. Number 2 and number 1 along with the quick lightning facts Josh throws in perfectly explain my love of the force of nature.
Since there was no Electric themed boss from a Mega Man game on this list (not even an honourable mention of one) shockingly enough, Cloud Man would definitely be a good contender. Not only can he summon lightning that travels down along the ground and bolts that home in on you for a brief moment all while riding a cloud, he can also summon rain so strong that it can slowly push you off towards a cliff or slowly pull you closer and closer towards him. He's only a pushover if you have his weakness, which is bubbles of all things
One great thing about the final part of the Zeus fight in "God of War III" is that you can keep pressing the circle button as many times as you want as you beat up his corpse. I only stopped when the Trophy popped up, which made me say "Wait, it's over?"
I actually remember watching a video of the final battle before I had the game. I was *shocked* when all you had to do was just.... stop pressing the circle button.
I half expected Elecman to have a mention. He was the first of the electric robot masters and was a pretty challenging fight in the original Megaman (considering he can 3-shot you with his Elec-Beam attack) and is a pretty popular Robot Master, even today.
At the risk of being that guy, Ben Franklin's lightning experiment has a bit of a misnomer. His kite was actually never struck by lightning. However, he did still do his studies on electricity from it; he simply instead did so by touching the key he tied to the kite itself, as it left a shock from the electrical buildup from the storm.
I will say one of my favorite Lightning bosses has to be Ramuh from Final Fantasy XIV. I'm not referring to "The Striking Tree", the first appearance of him. I'm referring to "Eden's Verse: Fulmination", effectively a round two. Not only will he continuously blast the arena with lightning bursts, he'll also throw down lightning rods, requiring you to make quick examinations and find the shorter one(which gets harder when he does 4 of them or more hectic when he incorporates other mechanics). He can also call in dopplegangers to rush the field which will send you tumbling to the side or send you right off the field if it hts. Alongside that, he'll mark two players with a marker and they gotta scatter because thunder clouds which blast the field even further will spawn and if they're too close, they fuse and hit the whole field with a lot of pain and a damage down. Oh and lastly, creating a localized thunderstorm(more than just a weather effect) literally around the battlefield and having you dodge targeted lightning alongside summoning those dopplegangers, forcing you to think on your feet. And this is just normal mode. Savage mode adds in new mechanics to the mix. Such as him summoning a lightning bird that constantly hits the off-tank from a distance and if it gets too close, insta-death. He does a chain lightning attack where everybody has to pass off the lightning fast before it kills them, and if they take another before waiting long enough, insta-death. And let's not discuss fury's fourteen, because that's a tough attack to deal with.
17:28 All these lightning factoids as well as these lightning bosses themselves are perfect examples of why I always have a soft spot for those that we all the all inspiring powers of lightning.
Finally you're talking about a list I can get behind because when it comes to video games I love lightning characters. Pikachu's my first Pokemon, my favorite avenger is Thor, My favorite dragon is Toothless and I would love to have the power to bring the Thunder.
A couple ideas: -Top 10 “Divine” Bosses. You finally have an excuse to include Chakravartin. -Top 10 Duo Bosses: You vs. 2 opponents -Top 10 Light Bosses -Top 10 Darkness Bosses -Top 10 “Duel” Bosses: You vs. An opponent supposedly equal to you. -Top 10 Cheapest Bosses -Top 10 Worst Difficulty Spikes/Difficulty Spike Bosses
I can explain why Thunderblight had a sword and shield, and yeah it was because Urbosa did. The blights were designed both to match the element each Divine Beast utilizes, and be better in the weapon of choice of each Champion. Urbosa used a sword and shield, Daruk used a greatsword, Mipha a trident(which the game treats as a spear), and Rivali used a bow. That means the blights would have guardian sword and shield, guardian greatsword, guardian spear, and for Windblight since there's no guardian bow it had a laser cannon.
I’m glad Electro got at least an honorable mention…even if it’s from a game I’ve never played and fighting Electro and Vulture at the same time is endlessly fun

Man, I'm aware that Nevan is pretty easy, but she's so damn fun. I think the only bosses I didn't enjoy was Arkham, and it wasn't even that hard. *VERGIL THOUGH*
One boss I think is worth mentioning is Emperor Palpatine from The Force Unleashed. Palpatine is already one of the best villains in all of fiction, but the game gives a really cool boss fight. Since his lightsaber was stolen before the fight he relies on the force and uses force lightning in unique ways. In addition to just blasting you, he uses the lightning shield ability to protect himself, has a challenging power struggle if you use Force Lightning at the same time as him, and he throws electrified objects at you. He is kinda easy but I see that as a good thing as the previous fight against Vader and the level itself was a pain in the exhaust port. Plus Palpatine shows his intelligence in this game as he gets to Vader to manipulate the player character to get all the biggest opponents of Palpatine in one place so he can have captured and executed. These same people are the three major founders of the Rebel Alliance meaning he was almost able to kill it before it even got off the ground.
Zinogre is an interesting one, since his electricity isn't something he inherently has or something he harnesses from the atmosphere. Instead it comes from a symbiotic relationship with Thunderbugs, which is just such a cool idea when it comes to the whole theme of Monster Hunter having fantastic monsters in more realistic ways. There are also plenty of other thunder monsters that flaunt their bolts in fun and interesting ways, like Boltrever Astalos who can basically create an electromagnetic black hole.
Elec Man from _Mega Man._ The first and prototype for all electric-type Robot Masters and Mavericks in the series. Even being the earliest, his Thunder Beam is _still_ one of the most powerful weapons in the series, capable of three-shotting Mega Man from full health. There’s a reason it’s the weakness of the fearsome Yellow Devil. And when you combine it with the pause trick to ignore I-frames, it’s devastating.
for hydrus, if they gave him a maw that he had open while rising from the deep to swallow the player, I think more people would remember it and talk about it, given that the only other colossus with a discernible mouth that actually functions is dirge, and people certainly remember that one.
Number 10: Laughed my head off at the title and ending. Haven't played any Souls-like games, though. Number 9: *Blinks slowly.* Nice bait and switch at the beginning, love the Hocus Pocus references...aaand one more huge reason for me to play the DMC series. Number 8: Now, see, it's a mark of Snake's ability to be able to win against that kind of person...by all accounts, he shouldn't be able to lose. Number 7: ...*Scoffs.* I hate when they leave gaping plotholes like that. I love the concept of fighting someone who has the same skillset with lots more experience, though. Number 6: In general, videogames are lacking in properly challenging bioelectric bosses. Thank you for making me say that sentence. Number 5: Asura's Wrath sprung to mind for me first, what were you thinking we were thinking? Number 4: Mad World does seem underappreciated...and I love seeing people with power over one element using it to control another. Number 3: Mmm...based on your portrayals, I'm unsure he should be so high. Maybe once I've played BotW. Number 2: THERE she is. I was wondering if she would be at the top. Number 1: A good conclusion, yes. Gotta be a final boss to top a boss list.
17:44 In collage, an Arc Flash came up in conversation during a lab. I mentioned that, according to the book, were basically miniature light bolts! They could be 10X hotter than the surface of the sun! They didn't believe me, not even the teacher. Despite showing them the *sentence* where it said that in the book, they still felt the need to google it!! I question if we all read the same material or not. The point being: *Anything* hotter than the surface of the *sun* is difficult to imagine.
Lightning is to me like Fire is to Josh, so I'm glad he got the time to make such a shocking list of thunderous combatants, jolting us into the new year with his first electrifying top ten of the year (if you exclude the obligatory Year Wrap Up video). I don't think he's Top Ten category, but I do wanna give a shout out to Alastor from Viewtiful Joe (aka, the sword Alastor from Devil May Cry if that quick quote in the PS2 version's to be believed). He starts the fight reading the games script and story plot, so that's just a funny way to start the fight, but says he'll fight just cause he wants to test his strength. He does have a few similar attacks to you, but he can shoot lighting from his hands and shock some floating platforms to cut you off from the rest of the stage and later move them around the stage, turn into or shoot out multiple swords and float at you (kinda slowly), disappear and fly, and he's even got some stage hazards (like a small pool and some lava) that both Alastor and you can use to your advantage. I wouldn't exactly call him a strong fight (heck, not even the best fight in Viewtiful Joe imo), but I still wanted to give him and the game a shoutout cause dude, VJ deserves more love. (He also has a boss fight in VJ2, but I don't remember that one as well as VJ1)
I want to throw in an honorable mention to Enel from One Piece. A Lightning-Based Devil Fruit User with a God complex, and yet his kryptonite is the rubber-fruit pirate, Monkey D Luffy. In the games, Luffy takes reduced damage to Enel's bolts, but can still get harmed by his staff. During Pirate Warriors, you can use insane combos to shock thousands of enemy soldiers. And the face he has... sparked a great meme. But hey, great list! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the KH2 finale

Between these guys and Frank... as much as a horror buff I am, I gotta say that the Masters have the better fight. Though having a shared health bar is kind of a double edged sword, meaning your partner(s) can drag you down if they screw up. 3. Even more creative, when he summons metal spikes, you can use Magnesis to lift one of the spikes up to have his own lightning strikes zap himself, that's pretty clever!
Man, this is a great list. Thank you for making it. I wonder if it's possible if you can make a list of top 10 video of video game bosses, but this time focusing on those with earth or fire power. I know you did video for the ice, water, and electricity bosses, but I don't think it would be really cool to see who the top bosses are in video games that use earth or fire power. Also, if you're interested in trying any games, I would highly recommend giving FGO, also known as Fate Grand Order, a shot. There's a lot of great characters and awesome bosses in the series. I highly recommend checking it out.

I will say one of my favorite Lightning bosses has to be Ramuh from Final Fantasy XIV. I'm not referring to "The Striking Tree", the first appearance of him. I'm referring to "Eden's Verse: Fulmination", effectively a round two. Not only will he continuously blast the arena with lightning bursts, he'll also throw down lightning rods, requiring you to make quick examinations and find the shorter one(which gets harder when he does 4 of them or more hectic when he incorporates other mechanics). He can also call in dopplegangers to rush the field which will send you tumbling to the side or send you right off the field if it hts. Alongside that, he'll mark two players with a marker and they gotta scatter because thunder clouds which blast the field even further will spawn and if they're too close, they fuse and hit the whole field with a lot of pain and a damage down. Oh and lastly, creating a localized thunderstorm(more than just a weather effect) literally around the battlefield and having you dodge targeted lightning alongside summoning those dopplegangers, forcing you to think on your feet. And this is just normal mode.
Savage mode adds in new mechanics to the mix. Such as him summoning a lightning bird that constantly hits the off-tank from a distance and if it gets too close, insta-death. He does a chain lightning attack where everybody has to pass off the lightning fast before it kills them, and if they take another before waiting long enough, insta-death. And let's not discuss fury's fourteen, because that's a tough attack to deal with.

All these lightning factoids as well as these lightning bosses themselves are perfect examples of why I always have a soft spot for those that we all the all inspiring powers of lightning.
Finally you're talking about a list I can get behind because when it comes to video games I love lightning characters. Pikachu's my first Pokemon, my favorite avenger is Thor, My favorite dragon is Toothless and I would love to have the power to bring the Thunder.

He already did that, Chakravartin [apologies if I spelled that wrong] made honorable mentions; once again because he was locked behind a paywall.
I can explain why Thunderblight had a sword and shield, and yeah it was because Urbosa did. The blights were designed both to match the element each Divine Beast utilizes, and be better in the weapon of choice of each Champion. Urbosa used a sword and shield, Daruk used a greatsword, Mipha a trident(which the game treats as a spear), and Rivali used a bow. That means the blights would have guardian sword and shield, guardian greatsword, guardian spear, and for Windblight since there's no guardian bow it had a laser cannon.
I think I’d like to see some light based bosses in the future; the element of light is an incredibly fascinating one to me.
I hope Reno is gonna be on the list. He's a lightning boss and nobody can convince me otherwise.

So glad you included Thunder Blight Ganon, and as high as third place as well. Thank you so much as Breath Of The Wild and its sequel are very much in my future purchases list.
Man, I'm aware that Nevan is pretty easy, but she's so damn fun. I think the only bosses I didn't enjoy was Arkham, and it wasn't even that hard. *VERGIL THOUGH*
One boss I think is worth mentioning is Emperor Palpatine from The Force Unleashed. Palpatine is already one of the best villains in all of fiction, but the game gives a really cool boss fight. Since his lightsaber was stolen before the fight he relies on the force and uses force lightning in unique ways. In addition to just blasting you, he uses the lightning shield ability to protect himself, has a challenging power struggle if you use Force Lightning at the same time as him, and he throws electrified objects at you. He is kinda easy but I see that as a good thing as the previous fight against Vader and the level itself was a pain in the exhaust port. Plus Palpatine shows his intelligence in this game as he gets to Vader to manipulate the player character to get all the biggest opponents of Palpatine in one place so he can have captured and executed. These same people are the three major founders of the Rebel Alliance meaning he was almost able to kill it before it even got off the ground.
Zinogre is an interesting one, since his electricity isn't something he inherently has or something he harnesses from the atmosphere. Instead it comes from a symbiotic relationship with Thunderbugs, which is just such a cool idea when it comes to the whole theme of Monster Hunter having fantastic monsters in more realistic ways.
There are also plenty of other thunder monsters that flaunt their bolts in fun and interesting ways, like Boltrever Astalos who can basically create an electromagnetic black hole.

The first and prototype for all electric-type Robot Masters and Mavericks in the series. Even being the earliest, his Thunder Beam is _still_ one of the most powerful weapons in the series, capable of three-shotting Mega Man from full health. There’s a reason it’s the weakness of the fearsome Yellow Devil. And when you combine it with the pause trick to ignore I-frames, it’s devastating.

InFAMOUS is my second favorite rpg genre and I agree that it isn’t talked about as much as other games which is very frustrating

for hydrus, if they gave him a maw that he had open while rising from the deep to swallow the player, I think more people would remember it and talk about it, given that the only other colossus with a discernible mouth that actually functions is dirge, and people certainly remember that one.

17:44 In collage, an Arc Flash came up in conversation during a lab. I mentioned that, according to the book, were basically miniature light bolts! They could be 10X hotter than the surface of the sun! They didn't believe me, not even the teacher. Despite showing them the *sentence* where it said that in the book, they still felt the need to google it!!
I question if we all read the same material or not.
The point being: *Anything* hotter than the surface of the *sun* is difficult to imagine.
Lightning is to me like Fire is to Josh, so I'm glad he got the time to make such a shocking list of thunderous combatants, jolting us into the new year with his first electrifying top ten of the year (if you exclude the obligatory Year Wrap Up video). I don't think he's Top Ten category, but I do wanna give a shout out to Alastor from Viewtiful Joe (aka, the sword Alastor from Devil May Cry if that quick quote in the PS2 version's to be believed). He starts the fight reading the games script and story plot, so that's just a funny way to start the fight, but says he'll fight just cause he wants to test his strength. He does have a few similar attacks to you, but he can shoot lighting from his hands and shock some floating platforms to cut you off from the rest of the stage and later move them around the stage, turn into or shoot out multiple swords and float at you (kinda slowly), disappear and fly, and he's even got some stage hazards (like a small pool and some lava) that both Alastor and you can use to your advantage. I wouldn't exactly call him a strong fight (heck, not even the best fight in Viewtiful Joe imo), but I still wanted to give him and the game a shoutout cause dude, VJ deserves more love. (He also has a boss fight in VJ2, but I don't remember that one as well as VJ1)
I want to throw in an honorable mention to Enel from One Piece. A Lightning-Based Devil Fruit User with a God complex, and yet his kryptonite is the rubber-fruit pirate, Monkey D Luffy. In the games, Luffy takes reduced damage to Enel's bolts, but can still get harmed by his staff. During Pirate Warriors, you can use insane combos to shock thousands of enemy soldiers. And the face he has... sparked a great meme.

4. Between these guys and Frank... as much as a horror buff I am, I gotta say that the Masters have the better fight. Though having a shared health bar is kind of a double edged sword, meaning your partner(s) can drag you down if they screw up.
3. Even more creative, when he summons metal spikes, you can use Magnesis to lift one of the spikes up to have his own lightning strikes zap himself, that's pretty clever!
Man, this is a great list. Thank you for making it. I wonder if it's possible if you can make a list of top 10 video of video game bosses, but this time focusing on those with earth or fire power. I know you did video for the ice, water, and electricity bosses, but I don't think it would be really cool to see who the top bosses are in video games that use earth or fire power.
Also, if you're interested in trying any games, I would highly recommend giving FGO, also known as Fate Grand Order, a shot. There's a lot of great characters and awesome bosses in the series. I highly recommend checking it out.
