what is something you hate about the 2015+ wrx?
I have a catted j-pipe with the ets extreme. Cold starts are pretty loud
No rumble like STi. Even turbo 86 with EL headers are pretty loud and got a rumble.
Hate the stock wheels
@@kylegiachelli1793 yes . Absolutely
I was shopping for a subie earlier this year and went with a 2012 WRX Premium instead of a 2015+ because:
1) “Wide body” chassis
2) Subie rumble
3) Stock bucket seats are sportier
4) That 🍑.
.. in my opinion at least lol
I hate the Rev hang, equal length headers, and your chin strap, just go full beard lol
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣
Those seats are so sick. I have 2020 WRX with heated seats. I like to upgrade them but would miss heated seats in winter months😢
Base speakers got much better at some point. I remember the completely inadequate stock speakers in my 2009 Impreza 2.5i, and I suspect that base WRXs were getting something similar until ~2019.
Great video man. Mods are a must on the wrx. Especially on the shifter assembly. Without the short throw, shift stop, and brass bushing it feels defective.
Couldn't agree more
I'll say it 1000 times in every WRX video.. it's the TGV deletes that make the tuner pretty much take out the cold start. Don't mess with your exhaust. It's the best sounding exhaust for the FA20 by a long shot
I have egr and tgv and cold star deleted after 2 weeks. No point in warming the cat if youre driving... engine doesnt need to udle 1k rpm higher for no reason if youre driving
Upgrade your head unit to an Android one and change out your speakers to Infinity reference 2 way speakers. Also since you’re Catless you should be worried about boost creep because it can blow your engine. In order to safely run catless and avoid boost creep you need to run an external wastegate, which requires you to change your headers. The only option you have for the WRX is the killer b headers that allow you to run dual wastegates. That and removing your resonator or deleting your mufflers will make your car a lot louder.
Solid info! Exactly what Ron at Phatbotti told me too.
Damn you beat me to posting this! lmao just filmed the same video this past weekend. Nice intro tho!
Upload some content we miss u bro
I have to say those wheels are the best thing that car has it makes that car pop but the mud flaps man , but over all its one of the best looking subis ive seen, i to come from a genny 3.8 and now on a type r
Awesome. Great car
if i'm being cheap and lazy i rub thick layer of paste wax on my front bumper and no buffing it looks ugly but it helps cushion any bugs or rock chip and hose it off on my destination.
Bro it seems like it’s been forever it seems like lol. We missed you man. Don’t stop.
Lol. Just stacked up some vids
Ryan's Random RideZ that’s good man. From a 17 sti owner I just want you to know there are plenty of us out here that appreciate what you do and look forward to your vids
@@kalekhalili8130 awesome thanks for your support
The exhaust I feel that I have ets with mufflers and resonator and it doesnt seem that loud and I see other wrx that sound alot louder I have to go straight pipe and headers lol if I got the ets with out the mufflers and resonator it would probably be perfect
Grab a big brake kit from Yellow Speed, and keep the quad tips :O.
Go with a tomei / nameless catback. I have mine straight piped with the nameless cat back, no resonators no mufflers, invidia catless downpipe. Sounds like a Honda from far away but sounds mean somewhat close, especially in a parking lot / structure.
A few inputs after year and a half owning my 2016 WRX if anyone is somehow interested!
1. Swapped out the headunit because I couldn't stand the laggy response from the HU. Like 0.5 sec delay for each damn button you pressed!
2. Still hate the oem paint being soft/weak. Mudflaps do help protect the fenders and doors from the kicked-up rock chips tho.
3. Put in a delrin shifter bushing, heavier short-throw shifter plate and short-shifter rod. Shifting is now feeling "can still be better", from the feeling of "absolute trash"
I think it was your TGVD that took out the cold-start helicopter-take-off-noise (I know you know what I'm saying lol); I guess when you gain something, you will lose something too, but it is what it is.
I do have a question for you about the Corbeau seats tho, Ryan. Have you ever had a drive with 3+ hours continuous driving with them? If so, how do they feel? I have a bad back from an accident in the past, these oem seats are literally killing me slowly. Considering Corbeau offers an option of retaining oem heated seats (at least I believe the option works for our cars too), I'm really interested in them since we do have climate being -40C in the winter (which is -40F) up here in Canada...
I have not had a drive for more than 1 hr continuous but over 3 I guess any seat would get a little uncomfortable. Especially racing bucket seats.
spot on complaints!
I think they 2016 has a great set of speakers but it NEEDS more power, like an amp.
I have the same issue I have the same wrx as you but I'm stage 2 right now and I'm currently looking for better seats any opinions?
400hp and stock brakes??
Ets turbo back extreme exhaust
Subarus best radio sound is in the legacy for sure
I hate the cost, insurance, maintenance, fuel and registration.
The headunit is the weakest point as it is under powered and not able to amplify the speakers with sufficient power. You would be amazed how much better the stereo sounds with a better headunit and stock speakers.
It's the junk stock pads , I switched them after the out west Rockies trip
Keep the quad tips. Completes the look of the rear imo.
backpain?
Love the wrx.. I have two subies.. ( I have an svx that I had completely rebuild and s 2012 impreza) I'm thinking about getting a wrx and wanted to know which year wrx is the most reliable.
2015+
@@RyansRandomActs thanks bro, just got preapproved for my loan and going to look at a grey 2015 wrx with 45k miles on it. Anything I should look out for when test driving. I know 45k is not alot of miles but you neve know how the car was treated by the previous owner.
@@ThePrettybo yea just look to see if you see anything modified.
I would say the 2017 18 19 and 20s the 16s and 15s had issues
@@ThePrettybo bro in 3rd gear start at 3k and do a pull up to about 5.5k .... if you dont mind that power dip i say go ahead. Something i wish i knew before my break in period ended. And try to get the sti st shifter.
Weird on the brakes. Oem usually has alot of initial bite. Hawk hps5.0 or performance pad usually have less initial bite but more controllable bite. At least that's what I experienced
I'm saying at high speeds
Your tuner most likely removed your “cold start” being your cat less... a cold start is used to heat up the cats.
I have this but mine is still super loud on a colt start, I guess he didn’t take it out fore me.
If we could get some new bumpers with a single cutout id def get the tomei. Its a single exit exhaust anyway. Or a fake dual exhaust as some would say. So honestly these cars should have a single exit exhaust regaurdless.
Top 5 gripes...
1. Seat and seating position
2.powerband delivery @ 4k
3.stock shifter assembly
4. Takes forever to warm up and runs like shit when its over 70 degrees outside.
5.stock brakes feel unsafe
6. An extra is the weak subaru paint.
Hope this helps anyone... reply with more questions im happy to answer them.
Wow 2 vids in one day
Nope. I uploaded the shooting flames video on Sunday
Ryan's Random RideZ 😂damn my notifications just gave them to me both at the same time lol
@@carterchi5245 ahh. Well that's still good
I got a tomei and it sounds so good w the mishimoto j pipe. Definitely worth it, but quad does look better
It's yours catless
@@RyansRandomActs nah still sounds dope though
@@gus6601 just wonder how loud the tomei would be with catless j pipe
@@RyansRandomActs around the same catless would just be raspier
Hey bro I have a question that I can’t seem to find an answer to. I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata 1.6L L4 gas. I’m determined to make my car a sleeper, laugh if y’all want it’s gonna be badass at the end😂, and I can’t find a cold air intake for it. Could you help me out please
www.carid.com/2015-hyundai-sonata-air-intakes/?filter=1&sub-model[Liter][]=1.6L
get the tomei for sure man
Might have too
The first thing I ever did to mine was a 1200W sound system with 800W dedicated dual subs in the trunk. By far a need for any Subaru. Hes not wrong, its trash stock. And hey if you want loud exhaust, the Remark BOSO axlebacks that I bought are loud and will pop and bang, throw an occasional fireball when HOT, and they're around 400$. By far my favorite mod. Sick video, honest.
Thanks bud
I have the axleback midpipe combo from remark and i love it. Great deep tone.
@@dnawrapsatl with the BOSOs? I'd like to hear it
@@benjaminshoenfelt9349 not with boso style its the v2 axleback but still sounds good
@@dnawrapsatl respect
I thought you like your r400 Gemini bro. I bought mines because of your review on them months back. 😢
I do like the way it sounds. It's got a good tone. Just wish it was louder
Get a tomeiii!!!!!! U won’t regret it
Might have to
If you could go back, would you stop yourself from putting on the Boomba shifter plate. ?
Yes
It's the best mod I did to my transmission. You need to try it for yourself man. The trick is a heavy shift knob not mounted too short.
Onky thing I hated was that it was slow. I had the same mods as you except I also had the brz manifold and made about 400whp and still got beat by stock muscle cars, so I bought a new Mustang GT lol. Shit ton of money just to struggle to keep up with muscle cars that have nothing done to them. I still also have the wrx and I do love some things about it but seeing as I already have a daily driver I needed something that was truly a weekend car and not a sedan that was trying too hard to be one
Agree. 💯
Muscle cars are not in the same category.
Damn.. thats an actual issue with the car i thought it was just me with the lower back pain with the stock seats
Nope. It's the seats
Sean might have to give that a try until i can get something better
Stock seats in my base '16 wrx are more comfortable than my '15 focus ST with full recaro leather....no one liked those recaros...except me
dont bother with the speakers until you get a new head unit. the stock one limits everything
I just dont wanna lose the backup camera when installing a new headunit
Ryan's Random RideZ check out autoharnesshouse.com harness. About ready to install their harness and a pioneer head unit with apple CarPlay on mine. It retains the backup camera
The one thing I hate is that it isn't a Ford rs 🚗💨💨
jokes for days!!
Road noise is bad as well
Hardly notice it anymore after owning a few years of Subaru lol
where you from brother ?
nativity xD check out his license plate
Yeah upgrade the speaker bro I have 16 Rex and that was 3rd mode I made got a bigger screen and all alphine speaker with sub
Do the alpine speakers bolt up directly or do you have to modify them to fit
@@RyansRandomActs bolt right in it's huge difference night and day especially when up grade head unit
@@dspierre28 sorry. But do you know the exact name and size to get . If not no biggy
I got Alpine speaker from Best buy there 6 1/2 type r the type I have but type s are cheaper tho
@@RyansRandomActs and if ur talking headunit I have seicane headunit there make for WRX so once u put the year make they give right size
You try adjust the bass
Yes
@@RyansRandomActs now that sucks
It's not the head unit or speakers the sucks...it's the music that sucks
Those are sick rims can you tell me what brand and size, please.
You look like you've been up for a week bro....
I feel like it
Thats the life of a wrx owner. Work hard play harder.
That’s what drugs will do
@@juelz4516 thats his business not yours
Just upgrade you're head unit.
regarding the stock radio... there are a couple vids that show how to set up your settings to make it decent. sound is fine after set up to about 3/4 vol... not bad... good enough for stock radio, since it sounds like you're more interested in sound of car anyways... have you seen this vid yet? share your thoughts... th-cam.com/video/R_OhKHk9rys/w-d-xo.html
I'll check it out
#1 on the list should be the fact that it’s a wrx and not an sti 🤦♂️
first
Ayy. Congrats 🤘
dam xd
Sorry. What does that mean?
