    I just got a sling and he made it very clear he needed to check me out before moving over to his new tank.
    I’ll make sure to gently add more holes to his enclosure

      @@tesstomson8942 For your first tarantula you might want to pick another species. This one tends to be bolty.

    THAT is an awesome tarantula tattoo. Jeez. Probably was a no-brainer, but a BIG commitment to get inked like that. Really beautiful spider. Good thing to know, not to handle the tarantula, if you can avoid it. Probably like 7 years bad luck if you injure her.

    My versi shot up my arm when feeding it and it was fast. But it was Happy to walk on me, and when I cupped it with my hand, it didn't bite me or threat posed. Just settled until I found a container to cup it and it back it the enclosure. It was calm 😌. ( must have been in a good mood for a walk ) I don't handle it but it was one of them days it wanted a stroll on me😅. I will say I did panic a little as I didn't want it to get hurt but I felt relaxed coz it was felt relaxed if that makes sense. Mine has had 2 molts in the past few months and has a bit of red colour. Next molt I will re house to a bigger home. God help me 😅

    Could you please tell me. Why they are now called "Carebina" and not "Avicularia" anymore? Just change of the name? Or species? I had a few of them and they are very, very beautiful!

    Beauties for sure. But I'm also interested in what you have in your aquarium.

    • @WeaversWildlife
      @WeaversWildlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was my old roommates tank and frankly it was just a mess of bull catfish, big cichlids,and severums. It was a rather hectic set up. Currently I have a 3 gallon aquarium with chili rasboras and crystal shrimp that I also did a video on. Not as big but much more peaceful :p

    Any idea how long this species has taken to grow from sling > juvenile > adult? I feel like the growth rate never seems to be in the conversation when people discuss what slings/tarantulas to purchase and raise.

    • @WeaversWildlife
      @WeaversWildlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can differ between species, feeding rates, and individuals. Say for instance, last year I got three new slings which have overtaken the smallest one in this video already. One of my Brazilian blacks has gotten to about the size of a nickel in that time from a hairless sling, meanwhile I have another who's about three years old and the size of a quarter! (Pulchra are notoriously slow growers though)

    For some reason I find the way that versicolors walk to be so strange. Like how much their reach out with their front legs. Do you know why they do that? I feel like a lot of tarantula videos i watch their legs move uniformly for the most part but not the versicolor.

    • @WeaversWildlife
      @WeaversWildlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure, I call it "prancing" though. It may be an adaptation to living in thicker vegetation than most tarantulas more foot work=more runable surfaces?

      @@WeaversWildlife
      I think it more so has to do with them feeling for a higher structure to climb up onto, being true arboreal tarantulas that feel more secure higher up in trees.

    I just got a sling and one who is a juvenile. I've heard that the slings need more moisture than the bigger ones. What is your experience? How often do you spray water in their home?
    Great video, keep it up!

    • @WeaversWildlife
      @WeaversWildlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I honestly dont spray the babies very often maybe once a week, make sure their substrate is never damp and that they have plenty of ventilation and I'm sure you'll do just fine!

  • @Georgeos777
    @Georgeos777 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    why people dont do the tiny stage ones directly into a big cube?

    • @WeaversWildlife
      @WeaversWildlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's easier to maintain humidity in a smaller set up. Also for viewing and feeding purposes, say if you have a big cube with a sling in it and tossed in the one baby cricket they'd eat there's a good chance the feeder will avoid the slings burrow entirely and end up dying in there with a hungry sling still in a hole.

    • @WeaversWildlife
      @WeaversWildlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Breeders will buy your male! You can only charge a bit more than a sling but some breeders like myself will split the clutches too or replace the male with a sling or two if all goes well
