I hated the event but I have to say I am rather fond of the ending. The true Captain America defeated the imposter with the use of Mjolnir. Because he is worthy. As it should be.
You could have endless philosophical debates about what real personhood means. I won't have those here. That Cap is the real Cap to me, because he is as Captain America is meant to be: An unrelenting fighter for all that is good and true in the world.
The other one had his whole history twisted by Hydra. I'd say that makes him pretty fucking unreal.

Honestly I really did enjoy Secret Empire, my biggest issue was the pacing, so boring, so drawn out and it felt like it would never end.

As for the Injustice and Secret Empire comparisons it clear that Injustice is superior product. They didn't needed a magic force to turn Superman evil. All they needed was for him to have a real bad day and build from that.
I feel like they could hace just as easily just had that same inhuman randomly find it and bring it to them but writing it in such a way as making his super power the ability to do what is needed when is needed was the problem.
It would still be a deus ex machina but at least they wouldn't be holding up a sign saying "btw my super hero name should totally be deus ex man "

LUISPRIME injustice was pretty stupid to I mean superman turns evil almost instantly and most of the other "héroes" join him without question or reason or got killed IN a really STUPID way (nightwing, shazam) oh yeah and batman is the only real hero because he is batmam (fuck you batman)
to me it's on par with Avengers VS X-Men (wich kind of has the same problems minus the mindless and pointless killing)

While Secret Empire had it's up and downs it was a good story depicting the danger of Steve Rogers tactical mind. Regardless of how anyone feels about him this story clearly depicts once and for all why Steve Rogers is an extremely dangerous comic character. The story also provided philosophical moments to question whether or not the superhero community in Marvel actually help or do they cause more harm than good. I liked it and appreciate Comicstorian posting it.
At least writer's made decent job instead of the cheesy way they have Steve Rogers win . You can really tell when a bad writer has Steve Rogers win because the villain makes a ridiculous mistake. Instead a good writer shows Steve's unorthodox strategy where he reaches the top of the tree by chopping down the tree instead of climbing it.
You did a great job on this. Especially since you didn't really like it.

This was only good because comicstorian makes it interesting, trust me the real comics are super stretched out and boring

Bro, your narration skills are the very best! I enjoy listening to your rendition of comic stories. But I think your critique of this story is wrong headed. This is a good comic series. I think it ended on the right note: folks need heroes and hope against the odds of a dark society we live in. I think you have forgotten that in criticism and dismissal of the story.
This could have been such a good story on par with a story like injustice for sure but god it felt like boring, confusing, and just lazy. But you still made it fun benny and thats saying something, good job ben.

In all seriousness i found this entire event to be completely and utterly pointless and wasteful in my opinion but the idea itself making captain america a bad guy while yes has been done before with a lot of other heroes this is one of the rare exceptions that i was really intrigued about but the execution was really disappointing in my opinion

The idea that Captain America had been evil the entire time was a crazy-ass plot twist that took the internet by storm when it first showed up. But this story was pretty good, especially the comeuppance for the Evil Steve when the WORTHY one brought down then Hammer.

Marvel has reached the state where i watch and buy on sale Parker Spiderman, Venom, punisher, old man Logan, spider Gwen, and guardians videos because I like the stories, and just briefly drop into the titles outside of those just so Ben and Rob get the ad revenue for their content.
Marvel needs to clean house or keep their writers on a shorter leash and new 52 style reboot away most every thing done in the last several years.

I agree with Benny, this story wasn't up to scratch. Sure the middle was good, but that's cause Benny went over the bare plot. The end fell short to me, the truly satisfying surprise was the xmen and magneto, but that's all we got to see. The ending is very predictable and cliché, and had they built on the hype they were implying with a truly chaotic and spectacular fight, like something along the original civil war and some elements of world war hulk with continuous introduction of power houses, that would have sold to me. But I haven't read the book itself, so I can't fully judge how it makes me feel, and how excited I get. But more stuff like magneto would help. Anyway that's just my opinion, so don't butcher me okay #TH-camsafezone
Oh and stuff like ultrons reaction, suspenseful stuff. And so humanizing, guy who usually does bad things is finally on the right side of things, but loses his temper at the mention of his misdeeds. Really good stuff, and builds up tension and suspense. But still a good story.
So.... where is parker during this?

Wtf? This Bullshit... first, Black Widow can dodge bullets but she can't duck a shield cross from fake Cap? Bootleg Spider-Man just walks up and punches Fake Cap (a hand to hand combat specialist) in the face. The Avengers can't take out Fake Cap so how the fuck Real Cap can? I forgot, Real Cap's plot armor beats Fake Cap's cosmic armor any day.
Dawon Ellis she went up against cap to save miles and that's why she got hit, miles got cap when he was in shock, you can even see that he's devastated that he killed her on accident, the good cap was only able to defeat him when the avengers couldn't because when he was fighting the avengers he had the cosmic cube and when he fought the original cap he didn't so it was basically him fighting himself on equal ground, if you're gonna hate than at least bring good points

So Miles basically killed Black Widow for being stupid.
You know what would have a greater impact? If instead of having the fake Steve materialize to fight Hydra Cap; Sam Wilson could have "honored his legacy" by using his piece of the cosmic cube to give him an edge similar to Black Panther vs God Doom, having various panels which shows Sam essentially doing similar poses to Captain America throughout history, ending with him picking up the Hammer just like Cap did back in Fear Itself

This felt like a recycled ultimate nullifier story. At least USAgent made it in a background scene. He was a far better Cap than Bucky or FalCap. Miles must have his own cube to have any chance of beating Rogers.

Does Marvel expect the readers & the Fans to buy the Next series of Cap-America, knowing he's just a Kobik-Memory made flesh Steve Rogers? he's going on a "Redemption =Apology tour? For What? to apologize for his twins, actions, he might as well tell the public he was the last one to see Cap-Hydra and somehow he escape, Hail Hydra, make America white again.!
I despised this storyline. Connected as it was so soon after the attempt to remove Steve Rogers as Captain America ( Captain America in Vol. 5, #25-42). To me it felt like Marvel was trying to lessen public comic fan opinion of Steve Rogers by turning him into a villain. Its no secret that for a few years MARVEL was on a huge kick of trying to eliminate older classic heroes to allow them to revamp with younger, then considered to be the future trend of "Millennial Versions" (i.e. the attempt to replace Iron Man with Ironheart ( RIri Williams), and trying to make Falcon the new Captain America, (to add ethnic diversity ---which is crap since Falcon is already a solid hero in his own right). Gladly the mass appeal from the MCU movies shut this kind of thinking down, especially after CIVIL WAR 2 failed so badly with comic fans.
As always, Comicstorian came through with the dramatic readings. Unfortunately, "Secret Empire" was a big nothing. A big anti-climactic nothing. Wasted Hulk and killed off Black Widow for nothing. Just dumb. Again though, Benny and the team did their thang so props for that.
I *Love* Marvel and i know a LOT of Marvel and also quite a bit of DC, Image and Dark Horse Comics. Thou i gathered most informations around youtubers like him, Variant Comics and etc. the small little rest i gor from the Marvel Shows from X-Men the animated Series, all the way up to Avengers: Earth's mightiest Heroes. I do consider myself a big Nerd towards Comics (but in private, i love comics and stuff, but defenetley not like in the Big Bang Theory), but i never read an actual Comic or at least not to the end. So sadly, even thou i would've liked it, i never could've read Secret Empires.
How many ideas has MARVEL stolen from Japanese ANIME In an anime called Inuyasha: there a Shikon Jewel that is shattered and the quest is to go find them, bring them together for unspeakable power "I never knew it was possible to shatter a Cosmic Cube and it still obtain power? the original Cap-Mar-Vell shatter one, nobody went back to find the pieces to put that back together? AIM keep making these Cubes, cause they keep taping into a power source, that could be from the "Beyonder" In Dragon Ball you have to keep finding these Star-Pears Balls in order to grant the collectors their wishes? So all the Marvel Heroes have to find these shatter Cosmic Cube "Shards" but them together just to gain a wish? and some INHUMAN name "Barf" could barf-up "what an artificial Cosmic cube" and this same piece can make Kobik whole, yet Madam Hydra still has the real other half of the cube, hiding in the shadows? They made it look like Madam Hydra was dead, but she on the last page after Cap-Hydra was defeated by a Kobik memory made flesh "vanishing point" Steve Rogers? then there the page in SE#10 of Vegas sign is that the Black widow & Rick Jones alive? No open casket at her funeral , there a lot of inconsistency through out this whole story line

I believe that an old adage had taken hold at Marvel during the writing of this story. Whether it was "nothing last forever", or "nobody's perfect", or even "ugh, this again, I'm bored.... Any of those could be a possible catalyst for turning the Ultimate Symbol of Heroics into a "Misguided Villain". I sorta noted that Marvel never decided to make Cap an actual villain at heart. Just look at his dialogue with the heroes throughout the story, he just was trying, in an errant way to make the world a better, safer place, not unlike Superman (or rather the assaulted form of his alter ego Clark Kent (a unanimous vote for Homecoming King for the Annual Super Good Guy Day Ball...... no seriously, for real, who would ever really blame Superman....) I felt a strong responsibility to take part in this discussion (I prefer Caps Hydra uniform playing MFF, if I must, then I apologize for that, but it makes him hella tanky. All of the international controversy surrounding the character has me feeling sorta guilty... ugh {*Shameless plug*}) Me aside.... I really enjoyed learning about it from channels like this one, I read some of the comic but I knew most or all of the story by the time I came across it. It was nice to be all caught up though......
