    Great work, really, it's humbling to see devices in such a state getting fixed. With that said I'm wondering, as the customer, given how much work and pieces to replace to get to this point, is this financially viable to get it repaired instead of buying let's say, a second hand one and selling this for parts. I mean, I'm all for repairing broken stuff, I'm just wondering how much sense it makes from the customer standpoint. Maybe your fees are reasonable enough that it makes it easier as a choice though. I don't know where I'm going with this haha, good work again, thanks for the video

    Question: I have a water damaged switch I have 90% fixed. Everything works except the lcd won't come on. I swapped in a known good motherboard and confirmed the lcd itself is fine, so it has to be something on the board, but I can't find any damage on board (I have pics with a cheap scope fwiw). I'm lost.

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chances are it will have either a damaged lcd connector on the board or the display driver may have failed which is located just left of the connector

    Be careful using flammable IPA in an ultrasonic cleaner, static discharge or the ultrasonic transducer failing can ignite it. One suggestion would be to put the part and IPA in a sealed plastic bag then drop that into water inside the ultrasonic tank.

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey bud, sorry for not replying. Did you check the switch on a computer to see if the device is in RCM mode? If not, you're definitely looking in the correct area. The issue could be related to one of the MAX chips, such as the big max on the P13 side of the board or the small fuel guage located behind the battery connector.

    • @CodyKennedy420
      @CodyKennedy420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @fcallum77
      @fcallum77 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because that would cost extra money and potentially add heft to the machine Nintendo would say which is a fair point but the real reason is why would they?
      Water damage is one of the number one causes of failure. Most people just throw their broken stuff away and don't bother getting it fixed. Of those who do, most will go directly to Nintendo for their repair who will just replace the motherboard and screen; then they charge the customer £120 for the privilege.
      It's basically good for their bottom line to have machines that are susceptible to water damage.

    • @TheCod3r

    I actually wanted your advice on something, I bought a Nintendo switch which I am in the process of fixing, I was thinking it might ve worth me also changing the shell because it is in pretty bad nic, do you think it is difficult to do that? I haven't really seen you or any other repairtubers replace a fully shell, is that because it is difficult?

    • @TheCod3r

      It's not difficult, tronicsfix does one on a Nintendo switch that he has being released either today or tomorrow. The reason I don't do them is becsuse I only film what I'm fixing for my customers so unless they requested a case swap I wouldn't have a reason to do it usually

      It looks like my plan to fix a switch went a little south...basically I was trying to do a reflow on the cpu to fix a blue screen of death, I know this would work because the switch was working normally when pushing against the cpu. Only problem is I must've had the heat gun too hot because the components on the other side have moved.
