The only problem with this idea is if you live in an area where it gets really hot, the glue on the back of the velcro gets greasy won't stick very well. Better to dab a little bit of silicone on the screw. Too bad Milwaukee didn't add locking clip tabs to the bit case so they just snap or slid lock into place like the pack out boxes do.
Just got some Milwaukee packout for the 1st time. Was looking at modifications and decided I might give it a go. Then saw your comment and thought that's even better! Thanks CaptMike!
Which bit case would you recommend for me. Ive got a compact low profile organiser, I'm after one case and along the bottom 2 of the original organiser bins
Has anybody installed some kind of small access to the front of the bottom rolling cart because I’m not using that space due to removing everything on yo to access that space please help let me know if there’s a video thankyou.
thanks for your comment, The IP stay the same because it still IP65 for rain proof and dust tight Milwaukee Packout are not IP68 for water proof and dust tight, here is some info about IP en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code
@@toolboxtransformer9735 I'm familiar. Just didn't think those unsealed holes would help with keep the same rating. May want to try some EPDM, neoprene washers or silicon.
dzięki za komentarz, tutaj w Kanadzie mamy dużą różnicę temperatur, taśma dwustronna będzie działać, ale nie na długo, ponieważ gdy plastik PP ostygnie, taśma dwustronna nie przyklei się i tak samo w letnie upały w samochodzie roboczym, ( i próbuję dużo taśmy, nawet taśma Gorilla nie działa) thanks for your comment, here in Canada we have big temperature difference, double-sided tape will work but not for long, because when PP plastic get cold the double sided tape will come not stick and same for summer heat in a work van, (and i try a lot of tapes even Gorilla tape doesn't work)
thank for this idea but i try it before, when you leave yours packout in your truck for the first winter yes it's okay but the next following summer the heat start to react with the extreme heat and the tape let go, (i have been in the plastic industrial industry for 20 years , and with all the experience there is nothing will bound to PP (polypropylene) it will stick for a period of time but not bound)
here is the parts: PACKOUT LOW-PROFILE 48-22-8431, the bit cases a large case 48-32-4021 and 2 small cases 48-32-4028, 4 pan head screws 1/4x20x5/8, 1- 1/4 washer, 1- 1/4x20 nut ( for all the bits i put the one i need the most, so you will never find these bits set, i customized them for my self)
thanks for your comment, packout are made with polymer plastic call PP or Polypropylene, so this said there is no glue, resin or solvent will bond to this plastic, it will stick for couple of days, months but at soon you will have a deflection or weather change to shrink or expend the packout the glue will peel off ( i am a plastic welder by trade) if you need more plastic info!!! (i will be doing an other video about this topic, how to fix a packout and is it worth it? ) i used double side tape velcro in the passed it work okay until i put the packout in my truck the summer extreme heat kind of melt the glue in the packout and when winter hit the double sided tape shrink and all the boxes get loose in the packout
I Guess I'm lost here how do you take a Box that does not have a threaded screw built in it, And Magically build up one you need to pass on the Magic tric Seriously I bought a Milwaukee Set absolutely 0" No threaded Nut was built into it Anywhere Please show a little more of HOW!!! A B & C fit together.. or pass on how you can aquire a Milwaukee mini box that has Nut built into it..🙎♂️ I'm adding i wanted to know more so I did some Digging on what I purchased (Kit # 48-32-4023) and here's what I gathered up either Milwaukee doesn't want ones screwing with there mini boxes and they intended them not to be mounted in packout's so went the mounting bump where a Nut can be placed or they got feel up there Skirts and said lets remove that big pimple that lies in our box and you the consumer can find another way to mount it.. Guess can only Hope there's a New Way to mount the Box with there Design changes maybe sticky puddy😆
thanks for your comment, if you do not have any built in nut just drill a hole in that same area and do like the video at 2;19 using 1/4 x 20 x5/8 panhead bolt 2 washers an 1/4 nut, i will be posting an other video of an other bit cases packout design in April 2021 using some case with out nuts built in
Hey Jeff I did find a mini box at a Automotive parts House that carries Milwaukee and the mini box has the bolt 🔩 built into it Coooool might get before the Weekend..
Amazing! This war prepared like a cooking show with every step already prepared.
I used wide velcro. No drilling no leaks
I was going to say use some double sided tape to keep the profile low. Also Velcro or tape would keep the packout reusable and hole free!

Good idea! Thank you, sir!
Liked very much. I hope we can be neighbors some day. It will a plaiser to assist your work.
We all really enjoy Jeff…
Amazing great job
Nice guys !! More videos like these please 😅

Or you could buy a Sharpie and label every box of bits
I also used hook and loop, but it is tough to pull out the case because of that.
try the 3m command hook and loop, much easier
Can you please add some gas struts to a Packout box?

Lazy
I use magnets. The cases can be swapped out.

Po co wiercić otwoty w skrzynce skoro można było użyć taśmy dwustronnej.

@@toolboxtransformer9735 rozumiem. Dzięki za info. Pozdrawiam.
I'm assuming your NOT related to the Houle's in Forest Lake, MN. Or are you?
no i am not
Practical!!!
Why would anyone drill through the case like that instead of just using some heavy duty 3m double sided tape?

Super glue?
No drilling necessary if you use VHB tape.
why drill through the individual cases? Just use the threads in the case instead of the nut.
Just hope I can get the bitcases in Europe
Why pull the pins? It doesn’t seem to give you any more room.
We need to split one case to fill the hole left near the handle
No nails the boxes down. No holes and no chance of water ingress.
They make the cases to work in these now.
List of kits you used ?

I’d just replace the boxes with the 3D printed bit holders albeit it would cost more.
Where can I buy the 3d bit holders I need a few.
@@jefff8956 jake of all sells them and Etsy. Nothing beats the customization of printing your own but it’s not easy and there is a big learning curve.
My cases don’t have that hole
Way easier mod (I don’t want to bother with Velcro I mean I have the bits and a drill so why not) 😎
Why not just super glue the cases down?

Doesn’t fit for me
Or....I could just put labels on my bit cases saying what they contain.
Or use double sided tape to mount them inside.
