I’m a Hyundai girl and recently converted my sister from Nissan to Hyundai. We actually both got new Hyundai’s on the same day. She went for the Venue. I traded my 2019 Sunset Orange Kona in for the 2022 Amazon Grey Tucson. I love a car with great safety ratings and a massive warranty. She drives nice too. I’m still figuring out all the bells and whistles.
This is the UK with our crumbling road network, if you drive a lot of miles, comfort is EVERYTHING! Tucson wins. Sporty driving is a lifestyle illusion, most the time our roads are so busy your just cruising from one pothole to the next. Firm suspension gets very tiresome, very quick
I got myself kia gt s line great dash screen few nice safety features . Had it only for 2 weeks averaged 47 miles galleon on motorway journey. The wireless entry leaves me abit paranoid some one might hack signal and steal my car
@@ikkool Sorry for a late reply which probably is a bit irrelevant to you now. I find it a good car with some glaring problems that for me are enough to not wanting to buy another one. The major one being that it cannot be used in the wintertime without the ICE running since the heating requires it. So whenever it dips below 10 deg C. the engine will start but it will only idle in order to warm up the passenger compartment which means that it actually takes quite some time for any heat to build up since there is no load on the engine because the actual propulsion of he car is still battery operated, so what you get is a car that is powered by a quite small 91 HP electrical engine and heated by a 180 HP ICE. And in order to get real heat quickly you have to use it as a normal hybrid which of course also means that the consumption is much higher thus rendering the entire PHEV idea moot.
I'm thinking of private leasing one. Even if I get the plugin hybrid and it's really cold I can still run it as a standard hybrid to keep the inside air warm. That being said having the option to use the EV battery for heating the air would be really good and I have heard that Toyotas RAV4 plug-in hybrid has that or maybe it's only some of the pure electric cars that have it from Kia, Hyundai and Toyota. In any case have you tried your Tuscon on winter roads and in tight corners and on highways? Does it feel wobbly and too soft in suspension? Do you think it is distracting not having real buttons for controlling the air conditioning and radio?
If I were going to spend £35k on an SUV right now, I'd be heading for my nearest Kia dealer, followed by a look in at my closest Hyundai one... The South Koreans are absolutely nailing it right now.....both from the design and tech angles. The Ford is looking decidedly dated these days. Having owned a 2013 Focus Ecoboost for 4 years, I'd have reservations regarding build quality too. The door seals on my Focus were falling off at 35k miles, and the squeaky plastics inside and Flit Gun paint work outside, didn't impress me much either.. Ford appear to have lost any vision they may have once had. Everything in their car range now revolves around the Focus, being either higher, longer, shorter, or having a more butch look than a basic Focus......
The Kia and Hyundai are built on the *same platform* with nearly *identical head and legroom* . The Kia has a panoramic roof in this model, that lowers headroom. They also have the same powertrains available. Interior choices and exterior design are the only big difference in the two. Kia's are usual more firm while Hyundai has the softer suspension tuning.
I have the Kuga st line x it's the best in my opinion I love the interior and that you have buttons. Not keen on just touch screens like in the other two vehicles and I love how the Kuga handles the bends it drives like a sports car I find the cvt gearbox great and flawless how it switches modes from ev to petrol
It's amazing how you're missing (perhaps) the most important point -- reliability. The Kuga uses a Mazda L Family (pre SkyActiv-G) 2.5 litre naturally aspirated engine, with indirect port fuel injection at that -- meaning no or minimal carbon deposits on the intake valves! Also, the gearbox is a (poorly named) eCVT, not unlike Toyota's box, built like a tank. The Sportage/Tucson use a direct-injected 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine and a planetary gearset with electric synchro instead of the torque converter. All of these differences become critically important once the cars are out of warranty. L.E. Oh, and we get a 9-year warranty on the Kuga, in our part of Europe at least. Also, it’s such a fun to see people looking after you came across the corner while others have to apply a break :) they are like : seriously ? An SUV beaten me on the corner? 😂❤️
A car that has the "twisty doo's" has to win in my humble opinion, a car with a CVT does not. Given the extended lead times with some dealerships unable to accurately quote at the moment, can you provide a winner for next year and I can place an order and get it the year after 😉

Hyundai won it for me because the lease deals are great for these right now. So you get may more car for your money compared to the deals on the shortage for similar spec levels. Also for me I prefer the looks of the Hyundai and need as big of a boot as I can get for dog and baby stuff. N-line S would have been the better car to give to all the journalists rather than the Ultimate just because it looks that little bit better.

I have been driving a Hyundai ix35 for the last 6 years, great car and so far have had no problems. Can't decide what to go for now. Looking at Tucson, Kia , or a Honda. Hmmm decisions decisions 🙂
My parents recently purchased the kuga Vignale and we’re very proud to show me. It’s a lovely car but the ride in the back can only be described as brittle. I asked are the tyres set correctly!? I would never get one of these for a family vehicle with such a poor ride. And that’s comparing it to my RS3 which isn’t exactly supple riding!
Well don’t have any of them. Got a Hyundai Kona 2022 petrol hybrid. Suits my needs. Seldom carry people in the back seats nor need a vast amount of boot space. Get decent MPG if you drive carefully and gently. Same could be said of any car. Has a decent amount of poke if you want to speed along. Just got back from a journey and achieved 138mpg.
That's the difference. Both Kia and Hyundai have been lighting quick to respond to market demands, producing the cars people *want* to buy. Not all car makers are so forward looking, and often just trade on their name and past reputation. Kia were the first car maker to introduce a 7 year warranty. Few others have dared to follow..... Just look at the success both Kia and Hyundai have enjoyed in the EV field, just in the last 5 years alone.....and they're just getting started.
The Kia is much better looking than the Hyundai, doesn’t look like a big compact SUV but for me it wins over the other 2. Not to mention my mum had a 2011 Sportage.

So buying a hybrid according to the back of my envelope would save me £433 per year compared to a petrol engine, but hybrids are 0ver 7k more expensive, meh, not happening!
Road tested the Hyundai and Ford as new Kia was not available but in the end I opted for a XC40 VolvoB3 2.0 mild hybrid, very similar price but the finish sold it for me. Just hope it’s a good as my Octavia Scout has been.
Kuga looks like a big fiesta but how the Ford drives can't compared with Korean cars. I think Kia and Hyundai are well equipped with high tech technology but Ford is Ford, can't compared with Asian cars.
I used to think this way, but I just bought my first SUV, a Kia Sportage GT-line. It's built seemingly as nice as the E class merc I traded, especially the interior. It drives as comfortably, albeit differently because coupe vs SUV is different, but not as much as you'd think. Also, I bought a rowing machine a few days after I received my Sportage, and for the first time ever was able to chuck it in the back and take it home immediately vs my normal wait for a delivery. And now, best of all, I can actually see over the surrounding vehicles in traffic as opposed to getting a blocked view everywhere when sitting in my previous coupe. If you can't beat 'em then join 'em, and the Kia is a stylish way to do it imo.
opposite end of the spectrum here!!.I'm very much getting a liking for SUV's because you have some seriously flexible bootspace. The dimensions are much easier to deal with a full load of equipment. In my case it's flight cases for expo's and demonstrations but could just as easily be for camping/sports kit or baby stuff and/or wheelchairs. Some of the smaller ev's just can't swallow a load.
Well there's more and more of them appearing on our roads here in Northern Ireland ☘️. With the UK stopping sales of new petrol/diesal cars by 2030 many people if changing cars now are looking at hybrids/EVs.
I'm wondering how well the plugin hybrids perform in the winter. First I thought I want a plugin hybrid that can heat the air only in ev mode but now I don't know if there is one out there that can do that and I also think it's OK running the engine a little. After all in worst case it's acting like a hybrid in those situations not pure ev driving. People say they get used to the screen controls but I'm not sure I will. Just feeling where they are with my hand while I'm driving makes me keep my eyes on the road all the time. Something that seems impossible with a touch screen. Otherwise I like the look and standard included tech of the Tuscon. Aren't there buttons on the steering wheel as well to control the air conditioning and radio/music in the Tuscon?
While big displays look amazing, it just stupid to move controls to a display which hinders your driving - you have no feel for the controls, you have to look elsewhere. Manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves since they chose to follow those idiotic Teslas. An example of a UI related test: how fast can you turn the radio off?
I have the Kuga ST-Line. No regrets, the handling especially is excellent. My wife had new Sportage for a courtesy car recently, simply horrid handling compared.
I’m buying one of these early next year, so this test is helpful. The Ford fails by the fact of it being the ‘chav’ theft car. Fords are so easy to, and are the most stolen. Then the Tuscon is being updated early 24 or sooner, it probably is the winner for me.
So did BMW, Lambos, etc. All companies have had problems with fire and had recalls. Only badge warriors keep slating Hyundai or Kia because they just don't know better.
You can keep calling the kuga outdated but European families are still gonna buy it if they want a phev and it will retain as the best selling phev in europe

Kuga looks like a big fiesta but how the Ford drives can't compared with Korean cars. I think Kia and Hyundai are well equipped with high tech technology but Ford is Ford, can't compared with Asian cars.
Would take sportage at 2nd hand price
7 yr warranty
More spec per pound
She bought a kia, let see what she thinks
Good review, but personally I god damn hate SUV's. What the obession is I don't know - pretty much everything is a compromise.
Agree, not as economical, nor as good to look at as some hatchbacks and saloons and not as fun to drive either
@@glennchinyangarara8225 Agree but the elevated position attract many of us...
Kia for me 😁
Less personality, more facts
Most people don't buy hybrid or electric . I wish you would have reviewed the petrol engines.
Well there's more and more of them appearing on our roads here in Northern Ireland ☘️.
With the UK stopping sales of new petrol/diesal cars by 2030 many people if changing cars now are looking at hybrids/EVs.
Sportage looks good, but they seriously need to slim down the spec - it's hugely complicated to work out options and levels. Keep it Simple
Well she likes the Kia, cos she bought one…
And the best is toyota rav4 plug-in hybrid
The RAV 4 is too big, too heavy, and isn't the best to drive, compared with these cars.
And today we will shoot the video with none of the presenters addressing the camera. Hmmmm. Why?? It really does not work.
Err u did not give a final verdict...
Nicola did. Weren't you listening? In fact she went on to buy a Kia Sportage for herself.....
@@Brian-om2hh I was but it was not official...
Uhhhhh... forget perhaps the economy??? How much fuel they use???
Hyundai Tucson is the winner!!
Far better than it’s rivals!
Nice review guys!
Well its obvious why the Kia is the middle.
Because it's the newest car here?!
Nice reviews of them all. The woman reviewing is almost unbearable talking like she is hosting a cbbc show.
The doors on the Ford Kuga look like they have been hit by a lorry. It put me off buying one.
Ford kuga is probably the more economical and cheaper off the three to buy/lease but it doesn't have the look of a SUV.
