Adding More Features To Lyra Starter Game

  • I've been seeing a ton of devs & youtubers hopping on the lyra starter game hype so I figured I might as well. lol No but in all seriousness this project was a gift from the Dev Gods themselves. I spent the last month migrating all of the features I added in my other project into Lyra Starter Game. Character & Weapon Skins, FPS/TPS Hybrid approach & the one feature that most gamers will either hate or love - FLIGHT. This Is not a devlog persay more like a hey here's what I've been doing for those of yall who dont watch my streams.

    I would like to create co-op mode in lyra, play in red team .. all bot spawn in blue team, custom spawner.. but i have not found tutorial about custom bot spawner :( Will be any chance to create tutorial about it ?

    ugh I love this menu, I would love it for my game as I'm doing something similar
    only not so much like call of duty, anyway I can pay for this verison of lyra? I already
    modified mine char wise but they only spawn in blue * custom models but I am very new*

      This is not for sale it I do have one that is for sale on my Patreon. However like I’ve told multiple others who are just starting out the code base is not meant for beginners. You will spend more time asking questions than developing. I’d suggest taking my lyra course it’s free on TH-cam

      Are you talking about the GENESIS instead of Lyra graphic? I just changed the texture that it’s referencing to my own

    I know your a c++ guru but do you think this can be accomplished using BPs?
    Contemplating giving it a go using BPs (and I'm no BP guru either).

      Yes technically it can but I don’t recommend it. Also I am no c++ guru

    let me guess you can still shoot around corners without exposing yourself so hide behind a pillar and shoot players ....

      @@DevGods Yeh I have been developing for years mostly on third person games that should not exist people just don't know how to solve it.

      @@SuperGotgames SCUM has a good system where if anything is blocking your player models eye line of sight it wont show up on the screen. But its weird to see a room that really has people in it just on you're screen they arent rendered. Does force you to fight in first person though.

      No, not at the moment. I’ve been more focused on building up the community. This summer I’ll try to free up a month to create a couple of in depth tutorial series on different systems.

    Super cool ! Would love to see a couple little tutorials or even just walkthroughs of 'hey here's what my blueprints look like and where I made connections to the starter content' etc

      It would have to be a series. There are a ton of different things that have to be set up for it to work. Then getting it plugged into lyra is a whole different story. Not sure if I will have time to do all that while in a development mode. But I try to stream pretty much everything. If you’re in my discord I post the vods for all the streams there

    any idea where they attach the gun mesh?

      They attach it to a custom bone “weapon r” but with the system they have set up you can attach wherever you want. And just adjust using the relative offset. If you want really nice grips just animate each weapon to a specific bone that way it’s perfect. Takes longer but in my opinion it’s more efficient. Especially with control rig.

      @@DevGods Thanks fixed the ik position! Our weapon code was from scratch and we needed a reference.
      I thjnk I'll try adding some offset so that I can repurpose the rifle animations. Reload will have to be redone per weapon tho.

    Any idea how the left hand ik works?

      Yes, inside the anim layer base class there’s a layer in there called “Skeletal Controls” it has all the logic for hand and feet iks in there

      @@DevGods is this inside control rig?We are using lyra as anim bp foundation for making our character and the handk ik was not working on the left hand

      Are you using a custom character? If so you need to add a virtual bone with the same name as the one they are using inside of the anim layer base bp. It has to be set up a certain way as well I can’t remember off the top of my head whether it’s root to left hand or right hand to left hand. Join the discord

      This project is pretty old and not for sale. I have one that is for sale but it requires a seasoned developer to actually take advantage of it. I do feel like the best thing to do is learn how to do it on your own because even my projects have bugs that I’ve been putting off fixing. I have a 15 part series covering a lot of stuff you should check it out.

    I'm curious how you got the currency and buy menu working. I've tried doing something similar with the project but been unable to get it working right for clients and servers.

      It’s a pretty involved system that I wrote for my other project and ported over. Would have to do an entire mini series to explain it because there are so many moving parts. If you’re in my discord I believe I have streams in the announcement channel that show some of the work.

      @@DevGods Perfect I'll take a look into it and see. I got part of it working using the same method as the weapon spawner pickup although basic it works in ways unfortunatley the client has some issues with it no matter what I try.
