Love your Prelude. Had one years ago and wish I still owned it.
THIS! I had a 97 Prelude that was in great condition. I hated the fact it was automatic transmission though... so I sold it. Stupid mistake. I later got a 2005 Acura RSX Type S. That was also a sweet car. I got rid of that to get a more family friendly car because I had a baby on the way. I miss that one too.
Just FYI dude DAB & DAB+ are not internet radio as you said. Its 'digital' radio... as in pure 1's & 0's you can receive over an RF signal from your local tower (just like AM/FM) - and its AWESOME! 👌

No it’s not detachable. To run two amps, you would just splice the “remote” wire that tells the amps when to turn off and on but there is only one auxiliary out for the subwoofer and it’s left channel. Depending on your setup, it shouldn’t be an issue if one amp is for the speakers and the other is for the sub.
Great video! Does it come with right/left tilt or adjustment for more direct viewing for driver? All I've seen so far that has this function is the Boss units.

Thanks this is a good rundown. I don't suppose you could make a video showing how SiriusXM looks and works both in Android Auto and just as the Android app outside of Android Auto? I've never come across a Android head unit video that showed it and I want to be able to use SiriusXM (and none of the Android head units come "SiriusXM ready." I've read the SXM apps in Android Auto and Car Play are terrible so wondering how bad, and how good the regular Android app for SXM works on this device. Can steering wheel audio controls work with regular Android music apps? Thanks.
EXACTLY! I have used the app years ago on a ebay cheap android. I am thinking of getting this for 2023 nissa leaf as the HU they put in there for it being so new SUCKS sooo bad when your used to a system like this

How's the radio 8 months later?
Nice video. Out of curiosity, why are many people interested in installing Netflix on these gadgets that I think should be primarily used in the car? Or are they meant to be used both as car entertainment/ navigation and personal tablet?
I personally don't use netflix but I assume people just like the idea of using a nice big screen to watch a movie or play video games in their car. From my experience, I really like using youtube on this head unit because theres a lot more content to listen to while driving vs a music app.
I’m concerned about theft. Are there any floating units, that the panel comes off relatively easy hopefully w longevity. Your video is by far those most informative. Keep up the great works,!

How does the 'Live Rear View' feature work? Can I display the rearview camera at all times, then have it switch to a dual view of the rearview with grid lines and birds eye view when I go into reverse? I can't believe a single reviewer has not discussed this.
@@paulr7719 yes, Live Rear View will keep the rear camera view on at all times and when you switch into reverse, it’ll change into the back up camera mode which will show the Birds Eye view

Hey man, in your opinion, which is the best 7" unit, ATOTO S8 or Teyes CC2 Plus?
I haven't had the opportunity to review the CC2 and so this is just from my observation from skimming their website.
1.) theres a very big sale on the item from $500 down to $235. - that's a very big discount and so maybe the production of the product wasn't too high to begin with.
2.) their DSP interface looks very similar to the maxpeedinrods DSP, you can see here th-cam.com/video/i2HC3Onh1o8/w-d-xo.html - so more than likely, they're using an operating system that is widely sold to other companies with little modification to their DSP
3.) Their user interface looks unique, pretty cool that they have the live rear view feature
4.) they're not on amazon. This can mean that the company or products are fairly new, maybe the customer support/warranty may not be reliable. I feel like customers can trust a company more if its on Amazon versus having a standalone website that not many people know of.
but I haven't watched any reviews on the Teyes and so it might be better than I expect.
I can't say that its any better than the S8 but there's a lot to consider that may make it worse than the S8. Personally, I love the S8 Premium that I installed on my Honda Prelude. I would be interested to find something that is better within the same price point.

Is the wire harness the same for other ATOTO stereos? Meaning can you easily swap head units if you have an older model?
it depends, according to the manuals, Atoto has two type of connectors. 16 pin and 20 pin. As long as they have the same pins, you'll be able to swap them. The A6PF and S8 lite are 16 pin and so they're interchangeable. The F7 and other S8 models are 20pin

Do you really an adapter for the steering wheel controls?
No you don't, and because ATOTO isn't a big brand, the adapter will need extra steps to work correctly. I used this website axxessinterfaces.com/product/ASWC-1
It'll show you how the adapter is wired up to your car. Typically it requires 3 or 4 wires, two of them being for power and ground for the adapter, the others for steering wheel controls. Just figure out which wire(s) are for steering wheel control and you test them out on the ATOTO radio. The ATOTO radio will have 2 wires for SWC. in most cases, you only need to use one.

Yes, I hotspot to my phone for TH-cam 😆
Sometimes you might have issues if you’re connected to hotspot and then go to CarPlay (wired). I never used the wireless CarPlay and so that might open up another can of worms if you’re trying to use wireless CarPlay and hotspot together. If you have issues, I would simply turn off Bluetooth and wireless on both devices, clear the cache on the head unit and try it again. Seems like a lot of steps but it can work

Yes, it just depends on what year it is.
on amazon, just look up Double Din Kit and make sure you get one that is for your year. You'll also want a radio wire harness too so you wont have to chop up your oem harness to plug this up.

no, your car will only work with single-din radios. This one is a double-din radio.

what steering wheel do you have on your prelude and does it have an airbag?
its a Prelude Type S steeringwheel and I recall that the USDM airbag will fit. The only modification I did was retaining the cruise control buttons

Yes, all ATOTO units I’ve tested so far have the dimming wire. It also turns your maps in Carplay and Androidauto to night mode when you do so

Nah, it’s actually the perfect distance, especially since I have big hands. But if clearance is a big issue for you, can slightly tilt the top of the screen forward so that the bottom will tuck in a little bit if you want more adjustability, consider the s8 and s8 ultra plus
So you need an amplifier installed?
it has one built-in but it isn't much louder than your stock radio. I would suggest installing an amp later down the road but give it a chance and see how you like it. With stock speakers, it might sound good but I have aftermarket component speakers and they could def be louder

There isn't a plug and play wire to work with the oem camera BUT there might be a jumper wire harness that will allow you to retain your OEM camera depending on which vehicle you have. You can check out crutchfield.com for full guides on what parts you'll need and whats available for your car.

It’s has both, 4 auxiliary for the speakers or you can use a rca to hdmi converter to input sound from an external device such as a gaming system, dvd/blueray player

Yes, radio works normally without internet. Only thing I’d use internet for is TH-cam 😆

@@HF1.0 yes, you’ll need to turn in hotspot on your phone. Supposedly the included WiFi antenna will help with the connection.

This is android 10 and after emailing ATOTO support, it doesn’t seem like they have any plans to update it to a newer OS. I don’t think it’ll be possible to upgrade any hardware specifications

@@paulostyles9484 its simply the size of the radio. On older vehicles, they use a single din radio which is a few inches tall. If your car has room for a double din, you can fit a 7 inch screen into your car. Some radios with screens fit into a single din but they're either detachable or slide out like a transformer :D

I recommend the Premium because the only difference between the Premium and the more expensive models are that you can raise and lower screen and you get physical buttons. Otherwise, the computer hardware is the same except on the Ultra Plus which has more storage memory and ram

do you have subs hooked up to this head unit people was saying atoto head units had very low subwoofer output??
yes I have a sub hooked up but its hooked up to an amp and then powered on/off by the head unit. If anything, the car speakers might be a little low and so you might want to get an amp for the car speakers as well. With my setup, the sub hits very hard and loud but again, thats because I have a separate amp for it.

No, I actually like the regular interface. The launchers seem like they’ll take a lot of time and effort to set up fully 😆 but there’s probably some nice setups you can find on TH-cam if you’re interested

Rawr… I can’t decide. I ordered the ultra plus cause I like the hand gesture. I do tow a lot and the hand gesture for quick back up cam prompt is nice to check things are secure while driving. I like the premium because of the layout and touch buttons look more premium. The ultra plus unfortunately has the cheap plastic buttons. $200 for hand gesture, internet radio, and LTE capability which I don’t really care for except, the hand gesture. 😢🤔😕
@@gn3ricc In my opion, I def prefer the the buttons because you get some sort of feedback reassuring that you're turning up/down volume. Even smart phones still have physical buttons for the volume but they're hidden. I'm not familiar with the hand gestures and so I'm not sure if there's a preset gesture to activate the camera. That does sound super convenient though, I think you'll like it!
Thanks for the input and quick response. You’re right about the actual feedback feeling of touch buttons. Regarding the presets, I saw some other videos of the ultra plus and people showed that you can set each gesture to launch certain programs.

I have an Atoto S8 Pro. It DIED after 1 1/2 years! A worthless brick. Tried working with Atoto. 1st suggestion was to ship it back to China. At my expense, pay for the repair, and pay to ship it back. Timing, Customs, money, headache. Not an option. I took it to 4 stores. All said DEAD. 2nd suggestion from Atoto was 8% off my 2nd unit. $40/50euro. I already spend 580euro plus professional install, They want another 650+ euro. 1,300 Euro - starting over. Buyer beware. DEAD after 1 1/2 years. I understand warranties, but a 600 euro shouldn't be DEAD after 1 1/2 years.
I bought a refurbished s8 Atoto on eBay for $159, dead in 18 months, bought another one for $159 refurbished, still going strong
But does it do Wireless Apple CarPlay? Who wants to connect cables in 2023
